Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie has disclosed that her first daughter, Purity, is starting to be more inquisitive about her past life.

The mother of four stated this in a recent interview with Goldmyne while explaining why she can no longer act unclad or feature in romantic movies.

The 38-year-old actress, who was a force to be reckoned with in the movie industry and took many movie roles regardless of how scandalous they were in the early years of her career, said there’s a lot at stake for her now because she is married with kids so she can not afford to play suggestive roles anymore.

According to her, being a mother has changed her perspective about life, and she wants to live a model lifestyle for the sake of her children, adding that she regrets some decisions she took in the past.

Speaking further, Mercy Johnson revealed that her 9-year-old daughter, Purity, is very curious about her past and sometimes google her name to know more about her past.

Her words,

“When I do that, what would the younger girls do? When you grow past a certain level, you try to go ahead and do better. For me, you don’t need people to tell you what’s right or wrong

“Age is telling on me. I’ve grown past that level, I’m answerable to too many people: my husband and my kids. I hate to embarrass them in any way. My daughter is growing.

“She gets hold of my phone sometimes, begins to google, and goes like, ‘Mum, my friends said…’ And they’re very inquisitive.

“I don’t think it’s (playing nude scenes) something I want to do to make my kids question me in any way or have something in their mind that they want to ask and they can’t.

“My sense of maturity is better, my judgments are better. Some of the errors I made in the past are things that I wouldn’t do now. Some choices I made back then I wouldn’t make now.”

Popular Nigerian singer, Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has been accused of ordering an attack on a student at the University of Benin (UNIBEN).

A Twitter user who made this claim on the micro-blogging platform said the incident happened at an event center in Asaba.

According to him, the singer was in Asaba, Delta State for a performance when she allegedly ordered her bouncer to assault the fan.

The Twitter user accompanied the claim with a video showing blood gushing out of the alleged victim’s eye.

He further alleged that police officers who were present at the scene of the incident made no attempt to intervene.

“Teni Makanaki @TeniEntertainer rebuffed my friend’s cheers and instructed her bouncers to assault him. This happened at The Dome Event Centre, Asaba. Police officers witnessed the assault but made no attempt to intervene and the artiste drove off without even one question.” His tweet read.

In other news, the FCT police command has revealed it has commenced an investigation into the allegation made by one Miss Ugwoegbu Ugomwa, claiming one of its officers, DSP Jude Ifeanyi, attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the FCT Police Command, attempted to rape her in their office.

In a video shared online, Miss Ugomwa claimed Jude lured her to his office and asked her to follow him so he can ease himself. She revealed that when they got there, he attempted to rape her. She alleged that while defending herself, he pushed her from the staircase and she injured herself.

In a statement released, the FCT police command spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh, suggested that both parties are “most likely in some sort of erotic relationship,” however facts surrounding the situation have not been fully gathered as of now.

Adeh revealed that while an internal investigation for necessary disciplinary actions has been instituted against the erring Officer, it is important to state that Ugomwa was at the Command’s SCID earlier that day, to report a case of Blackmail, Threat, Defamation of character and sexual Harassment and sundry offenses against another person and had lauded the investigation approach of the Officers.

Exotic dancer cum reality TV star, Chichi, has cleared up some misconceptions about exotic dancers in a recent bare-it-all interview.

The Big Brother Naija season 7 star, in a chat with Hero Daniels, said exotic dancing is a profession, but it’s heart-wrenching to see people judge exotic dancers because they see the work as unclean and inappropriate for any woman to do.

Recounting her experience, Chichi said she ventured into the profession when no one was ready to help her. She said those she met for help were asking for something she could not give.

According to her, the first time she danced on a stripping pole, she cried. She said most of the time she went to bed crying, became depressed and, at times, felt like not going back to work, but she knew that she had no choice.

She added that although people think strippers are loose girls, she can confirm that at her place of work, some girls are still virgins, and are only doing the work as a result of their condition.

“In this country we see exotic dancers as non-humans, but exotic dancing is a profession, not all exotic dancers are what you think they are. The first time I danced on that pole, I know I was crying”, she said in part.

A video shared online shows the moment popular Afrobeat singer and songwriter, Ahmed Ololade Asake, better known as Asake, absconded from stage after a concert-goer allegedly stole the gun of his security guard in Baltimore, US on Sunday night.

Reports have it that the ‘Sungba’ crooner arrived 3-hours late for the concert and only performed for 10 minutes when one of his security guard’s gun suddenly went missing.

Out of fear for his safety, the ‘terminator’ hitmaker was quickly escorted out of the venue by a number of security guards.

A Nigerian doctor is ecstatic as he took to Twitter to celebrate his achievements which he says were possible because of the many opportunities he had while residing in the United States.

The 30-year-old man took to his Twitter page to show off his accomplishments eight years after he left Nigeria. The medical doctor is currently building mansions across the south-east with one nearing completion.

He shared photos of the buildings under construction and revealed that though what he has achieved at his age is not up to the level of success he’d wanted to attain, he’ll however be proud of how far he has come.

The medical doctor attributes all of his success to the opportunities the United States of America provided for him.

He wrote in a series of tweets,

NDLEA arrests Kaduna big girl with 78 bags of cannabis sativa

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 27-year-old female drug dealer with 78 bags of cannabis sativa.

The suspect, identified as Peace Ayuba, was apprehended on Friday, October 7, in Kakau Gonin Gora area of Kaduna State.

Spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi, announced the arrest in a statement released on Sunday, October 9. Babafemi said that the suspect was arrested on Friday, October 7 at Kakau Gonin Gora area of Kaduna State with the drugs weighing 849.5kgs.

A little while back, the NDLEA busted a mansion in the Lekki area of Lagos State where over 13 million Tramadol pills were stored.

The agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, who made this revelation in a social media post, said the mansion belonged to a drug lord, who has now been arrested and detained.

Babafemi said the agency recovered over 13 million pills of Tramadol 225mg from the mansion.

“Another VGC drug bust! As massive and beautiful as this mansion located in highbrow VGC Lekki Lagos (pictured here) looks, it’s not occupied by humans but used to warehouse over 13 million pills of Tramadol 225mg by another billionaire drug baron now in custody of @ndlea_nigeria. Details coming in a statement shortly.” Babafemi wrote on Twitter.

A Nigerian lady with the name, Raheemah Mahmud, has defended a bride against trolls who were mocking her for marrying a much older man.

Videos from the wedding of the bride, identified as Hafsah and her husband were shared by an Arewa social media account a couple of days back.

The videos were received with varying reactions as while some people hailed the couple, others mocked the evident age gap.

One user wrote, “Side effect of marrying a “woman-child”. Na you go just dey collect anything and everything wey your eye see. Age doesn’t determine your behavior, your state of mind does. This is sadly needless, un Islamic and distasteful,”

Another wrote, “I thought he was her dad”

Nursing mother arrested after abusing her stepdaughter and her husband

A nursing mother who allegedly beats up her stepdaughter, leaving her with welts on her head and all over her body was arrested in Enugu State.

A Twitter user took to their space on the platform to share a video of the injured little girl. According to the user, beating is a normal occurrence and when the child’s father tries to complain, the woman beats her husband too.

A video of the husband with marks of injuries on his body was also shared online.

After the videos were shared online, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) swung into action and effected the arrest of the nursing mother.

NAPTIP also took the abused stepdaughter into a shelter for the time being.

A 30-year-old lady identified as Sukyama Irmiya, who stole a twin baby from the ward of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi state has sought forgiveness for her crime.

The 14-day-old baby, Ibrahim Mohammed, was stolen on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, by Sukyama who posed as a hospital staff member.

Security agents recovered the baby on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 and arrested the 34 year old suspect.

According to Sukyama, she stole the baby due to frustration from the incessant mockery by her mates and family members of her husband, because of her childlessness.

Looking remorseful while speaking with journalists at the headquarters of Bauchi State Police Command, the woman revealed she regretted her action and preferred death to the shame she brought upon herself by the act.

“I have realized my mistakes, you can only feel what I felt when you find yourself in my precarious situation. Before you know it, it has become a wound in my heart to the extent that I prefer that I am dead by now than stand this shame I am facing now,” she said.

“I am like a walking corpse, I am ready to die now but I demand for total forgiveness from God and everyone hurt by my actions. If I find favour of forgiveness from the parents of the baby, I will be very grateful to God.”

The lady however denied that she was from Dull in Tafawa Balewa LGA of Bauchi State as was erroneously reported when the story first broke out in September.

“My name is Sukyama Irmiya, I am from Kanam LGA in Plateau State. I am 30 years old.” she said, adding that she came to Bauchi to see a doctor over my infertility issue.

“I came to Bauchi to see a doctor and from there I went to the Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) to see a doctor but I later changed my mind because of the condition I found myself in,” she narrated.

“I thought that even if I met the doctor, it is all about child bearing and I don’t have a husband because I have been chased out of my marriage, so there’s no hope of child bearing,”

On how she was able to take the baby, Sukyama Irmiya stated that,

“I went into the hospital confidently, entered the ward and met the woman, I engaged her in friendly conversations and she loosened up with me,” she further narrated.

“I asked her if she had twins and she answered yes, I then asked her, now that you are sick, how are you breastfeeding the children, she told me that she was giving them milk. I asked her if I could take him to see how he looks, and she allowed me to do that.”

“Immediately I took the baby, my heart told me to act as the mother and go. I then told her that I was coming and I just left the hospital and went away with the baby. I followed the main entrance to the main road and boarded a Keke and went to the village called Za’a in Kanam LGA.”

The video of a commercial bus driver engaging in a quite heated argument with an armed policeman has left netizens stunned online.

According to reports surrounding the video, the driver travelled with passengers from Abuja and was heading to Warri. After being on the road for many hours, they met some police officers who usually carry out stop and search operation.

The video shows the moment where the driver and a particular armed policeman were having a heated argument, though it is not clear what led to the argument. As can be seen in the video, the driver who was seemingly unperturbed by the armed policeman, threatened to come back to deal with him.

At some point in their argument, the police officer corked his gun but this didn’t stop the driver from making threats. It’s however claimed that the driver is a military officer.

“How my friend was almost kidnapped in Abuja.
His cousin came into town from the U.S and it was all fun until he went to drop him at the airport around 2 am, he boarded around 2:30 am back to the U.S. Immediately he hit the road and other cars were also leaving the airport at the same time.

The road was completely free and dark since the FCT minister decided to keep us in the dark. The other cars from the airport were with him and it was more of a convoy with people he didn’t know, as he was approaching the city gate, he signaled to his intersection which is
Towards Area 1, suddenly one of the cars from the airport overtook him and stopped and his lights went off while the second car was directly behind him, basically, he was locked in the middle of two cars at 3 am in a lonely location.

Immediately he knew something was up and the only option was to climb the high parameters, which he did they tried to shoot his tire twice and they missed, off he goes at high speed with two cars chasing him.

Approaching area 1 roundabout he didn’t know police were stationed at the same spot via stays during the day, before he realized he saw a torchlight flashing and it was too late to step on the brakes, he had to drive with full speed into the ditch.
The two cars chasing him were approaching the spot and didn’t know policemen were stationed there too, he immediately came out of his car in confusion and screaming some people are after me pointing to the cars approaching the police spot before the policemen could understand the situation, both cars zoomed off.

In less than 5mins another man was running towards them on foot from up the bridge, screaming he has just been attacked by the same gang, they were all told to station there until visibility was obvious. Apparently, that gang goes to the airport and tracks people, follows you to town, and kidnaps you. Thank God he was smart enough to escape at city gate, if not wahala for dey”

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has backed Segun Runsewe’s requests that members of the House of Representatives granted the National Council for Art and Culture (NCAA) the authority to arrest and prosecute crossdressers in the nation as well as to pursue legal action against the producers of Big Brother Naija (BBN) over nudity depicted on the show.

On Tuesday, October 4, Runsewe made the request during an inquiry by an ad hoc committee of the House.

In a statement issued on Sunday, October 9, by its group head, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, MURIC backed Runsewe’s demands and referred to the reality TV program as “devil’s incarnate”

“The Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Segun Runsewe on October 4 called on the National Assembly (NASS) to give his agency powers to go after BB Naija in order to stop nudity in the reality TV show.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) supports Runsewe’s call and we see no reason why the NASS will hesitate to give him all the necessary backing. Big Brother Naija’s reality TV show is the devil incarnate misleading Nigerian youth.

MURIC has been consistent in its condemnation of BB Naija. We can recall two separate statements issued on the reality TV show. On July 12, 2019, we made a statement titled ‘Ban BB Naija’.
Again on Oct. 8, 2020, we issued another statement under the caption ‘MURIC Chides Ogun Governor Over BBNaija Gifts’.

That was when the governor gave a bungalow and N5 million cash to the winner of the reality TV show.
We saw the governor’s action as idolizing immorality and demonizing discipline. We described his action as ‘disappointing, disgusting, misplaced and myopic.

We call on the NASS to listen to Runsewe. It is the voice of reason. BBNaija is forcibly dragging our youths to a world of nudity, debauchery, and shamelessness. BBNaija constitutes a potent threat to every home. It is open rape of our cultures, values, and norms. BBNaija is lactiferous.

The NASS will have its name indelibly carved in letters of gold if it hearkens to the plea made by Runsewe. His appeal has revealed the weakness in our legal system.

It has revealed that there are no extant laws powerful enough to stop romance and sex on our television channels. The time to give the law the teeth to bite is now.”

A young Nigerian man, identified simply as Faisal Arts, has been applauded on social media after he built a tricycle, also known as Keke Napep, from scratch in Kano.

Photos of the ideation process, design, construction and testing of the tricycle surfaced online recently and netizens couldn’t help but applaud the brilliance of the young man.

It was gathered that Faisal fabricated the tricycle with local steel at his workshop in Kano state.

The photos making the rounds online shows the moment he was welding the steel together before bringing the computer-aided design to life.

After completing the tricycle, Faisal took it for a spin on a major road in Kano state and it actually works!
