Nigerian standup comedian and actor, Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth has queried the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commision (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa over corrupt politicians who walk freely in the state capital.

The commission recently announced they will do everything to locate, and arrest any person causing economic unrest.
“Yahoo boys came out to protest because the eagle strongly detest their fraudulent interest but EFCC will continue to do her best to locate, investigate and arrest anyone causing economic unrest” the commission posted on her official Instagram page.
Basketmouth took to his Instastory to query the commission on their target seeing as there were a lot of corrupt politicians causing economic unrest.
“Great! This is awesome news and I support it, but what about the ones that caused economic disasters? They’re walking freely in that same Abuja. Charity begins at home is all I’m saying.” he posted on his story.
Kogi State residents are currently suffering one of worst flooding disasters ever experienced in the country.
Houses are submerged, electricity is totally cut off, roads are blocked and it has almost become a full-blown crisis in the state.
In a bid to survive and go about their daily business, Canoes have been deployed to float on major roads in the state.

In related news, The Kogi government says it has begun the distribution of relief items like Vetegable oil, red oil, beans, gari, rice and other food items to flood victims in the nine affected local government areas of the state.
The items were donated to the state by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Lokoja, Kogi, Ajaokuta, Ibaji, Idah, Ofu, Igalamela-Odolu, Bassa and Omala.

Nigerian superstar singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid’s third son, Zion, just had his hair cut for the first time since he was born.
A video on the internet showed the adorable moment the Grammy Award winner and proud father of three took 4-year-old Zion to the barbershop to have his hair cut for the first time.
In the clip, Zion sat comfortably at the barbershop as the barber gave his best to give the celebrity son a perfect trim.

Operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) have arrested a soldier attached to the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Tungan-Maje, Abuja, for allegedly hiring out and selling guns to kidnappers.
The soldier, identified simply as Nafiu, was arrested last week around Dankogi Park in Zuba in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in the area.
DailyTrust reports that the DSS from the Gwagwalada office sought the assistance of the local security group in Zuba to arrest the suspect based on previous arms deal allegations against him.
According to a source, “It was learned that the suspect, in the first deal, had allegedly hired out a gun for a kidnap operation for N300,000. Then in the second instance, they contacted him for another deal and demanded N200,000 which the kidnappers allegedly paid, but he failed to produce the gun.”
The source said when the kidnappers, who had been in DSS custody, made the allegation against the soldier, a sting operation was planned against him.
“So they contacted him for another deal to supply them with AK-47s to buy at the cost of N3 million. We went to the agreed site on the delivery day here in Zuba and took the position. He arrived at the scene in his car to present the arm, and that was the time we came out and caught him with the gun well wrapped.” he added.
An AK-47 rifle as well as a fully loaded magazine with 30 rounds of ammunition were found inside one of the safe compartments of his car.

A woman has been celebrated on social media and also by friends and family for going against all odds in order to complete her one-year compulsory National Youth Service.
The National Youth Service Corps is a program set up by the Nigerian government during the military regime to involve Nigerian graduates in nation building and the development of the country.
The woman who was among the latest set of members to pass out from the program, did not mind her ‘different ability’ as she proudly wore her Khaki and served her nation in the best way she could.

In other news, A physically challenged member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Peter Gwer, has donated 50 sets of wheelchair to other physically challenged persons.
Speaking in an interview with The Nation in Makurdi, Benue State, the corps Member said as someone on a wheel chair himself, he knew what it means to be physically challenged.
In his words – “I have taken it upon myself to alleviate the hardship of people who cannot move around for the sake of their disability because I’m physically challenged too.
“Our society does not care enough for the physically challenged persons. They are the poorest in our society not because they want to be poor.
“Physically challenged persons cannot get decent jobs; not because they cannot work. But these and other hardships we suffer are because our society erroneously feels that a disability in the leg equals a disability in the human mind. So, they deny the physically challenged persons opportunities.”

A prominent football official in Tanzania, Haji Sunday Manara, has gifted his wife, Rubyana, a brand-new car as a consolation for taking another wife.
The spokesperson of the Tanzanian Premier League side, Yanga Sports Club, married a second wife, Rusha, in April, 2022.
According to Haji, he bought the car for his first wife to wipe away her tears as his decision to marry another wife was very painful for her.
“It’s not normal for me to gift someone in public. We have a culture that we inherited from our great-grandfathers; when you marry a new wife, the culture of the Dar es Salaam people dictates that you should give the first wife something to wipe her tears away.
The culture dictates that she is given something in front of her family and her friends. When you look at my first and second weddings they featured prominently online and that is why I thought to gift her here,” Haji said.
He added that his new marriage was difficult for his first wife but she is a Muslim woman who is obligated to adhere to the teachings of Islam.
“I thought of buying my wife a car …it’s not very expensive but I gave her after seeing that she had desired it while on the road. I do this to ensure that my women are happy just like I am. A show promoter identified as Alaafin Washington has shared the alleged reason why controversial singer, Portable, was denied a visa by the American embassy.
Portable had earlier taken to social media to cry out after he was denied visa five times by the American embassy.
In a video he shared on social media narrating his plight, he called out a show promoter who made arrangements for him to attend an event in the US and paid him N3 million upfront.
According to him, the promoter deliberately wanted to make him travel with 10 people whom he didn’t even know in an effort to sabotage his chances of getting a visa.
Portable said the promoter sent 10 other people to the embassy on the day of his interview and informed the authorities that he was their leader, which made the embassy deny them visa.
Portable said since he was denied visa and could no longer attend the show in the US, the organizers are demanding N20 million for damages.
Portable accused the promoter of trying to ruin his career and rip him off with the well planned sabotage.

He alleged that Portable insulted the immigration officer and consular on his first day at the embassy.

Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Frank Edwards has reacted to reports of him engaging Deborah Enenche, daughter of Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Center.
The rumour started making rounds after Deborah took to Facebook on Sunday, October 2, to share a picture of herself flaunting a diamond engagement ring without sharing details of her ‘partner’.

Nigerian singer, Dammy Krane accused Davido of allegedly sending boys to beat him up, days after calling him out on a debt he refused to pay.
Dammy Krane has been claiming that his industry colleague, Davido owes him money from a joint production and has demanded payment from Davido but has gotten no response from him.
Today, October 7, Dammy returned to Twitter to inform Police PRO Benjamin Hundeyin that Davido is putting his life in danger.
He stated that he had a video of Davido’s protégé, AB Kush attempting to break open the car door and assault him.
He shared a screenshot to back his claims and added that the attempted attack was caught on a security surveillance camera.
“Safety and security, @benhundeyin. This is a threat to life sir” he tweeted.
Hundeyin replied, telling Dammy Krane to lodge a formal complaint at the nearest police station.
“Not safe to leave my house at this point, ‘they have been sneaking around my house’ its all on footage” Dammy explained why he was reporting online.
Mercy Aigbe’s sister, Dr. Patience Aigbekaen allegedly set her mother’s house on fire a few days after calling out both Mercy and her mother on Facebook for practicing witchcraft.

Queen Ashley is a chartered accountant and currently runs an NGO that caters to less privileged kids and widows through the Ashley Adegoke Foundation, while Tobi Phillips is a graduate of Marine Science from the University of Lagos and a former Beauty Queen.
This comes after Queen Naomi announced the end of her about three-year marriage to the king in December 2021. According to her, she tried her best to endure and make their marriage work, adding that she smiled through the struggle, but now she’s done.
Congratulations are in order for a physically challenged member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ikiotere Ayebatonye Otuma, as he passes out from the scheme.
The 28-year-old man, from Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa state, defied the odds stacked against him due to his physical impairment to complete the one-year scheme.
Ayebatonye on Thursday, October 6, took to his Facebook page to celebrate passing out from the scheme and shared a picture of himself posing with his NYSC certificate.
“The work is done. God did it” he wrote.
His post caught the attention of a Bayelsa news outlet, Mangrovepen, who interviewed him to know his story.
In the interview, the physically-challenged man said he refused to let his physical appearance to limit his achievements in life, and kept pushing for more.
According to him, he grew up in a community where he was not mocked or despised by his peers because of his appearance.
Speaking to people with any form of physical challenge, Ayebatonye told them not to allow their condition limit their lives.
He said,
“Having a physical deformity should not make you think much. Your life is not over as long as you are mentally stable. You do not have to make excuses for failure. You have every reason to be who God wants you to be by his grace.
“Even though along the line you will face depression, difficulty and hardship do not let it get to you. Other people without physical deformity also feel down at some point in their lives and still come out of it.”

A Nigerian socialite and businesswoman, Amelia Pounds, has passed away in New Delhi, India, following complications during liposuction surgery.
She reportedly gave up the ghost in the early hours of Friday, October 7, while undergoing the surgery at an undisclosed hospital in India.
