Nigerian troops have rescued two of the Chibok schoolgirls who have been in Boko Haram captivity since 2014.

The two girls, identified as Hannatu Musa and Kauna Luka, were rescued with their children by troops of 21 Armoured Brigade during clearance operations in Bama Local Gvernment Area of Borno state on Monday, June 25.

Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad, obtained an intelligence report obtained from top military sources which stated that the girls escaped from Gazuwa camp, an acclaimed headquarters of the Jam?’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jih?d, Boko Haram faction, formerly known as Gabchari, Mantari and Mallum Masari, located about nine kilometres to Bama town.

The girls and their children are currently at military medical facility.

On April 14, 2015, Boko Haram terrorists kidnapped Over 200 students were kidnapped from the Government Girls’ Secondary School (GGSS) in Chibok area of Borno state.

While Several of the girls have been rescued, but dozens are still in captivity.

Popular Presidential aide, Femi Adesina, has issued a response to Nigerians who say the Buhari-led administration has failed due to the alarming rate of insecurity in the country,

In an interview with Channels TV on Wednesday evening July 27, The Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity said no government solves all the problems in the country. According to him, it has never happened and it will never happen.

In his words;

”Yes the party (APC) promised that it will secure the country and if you listen to the President everytime, he talks about his three priorities for Nigeria right from his first term, to his second term and now to 10 months to the end of the administration, he would say 1, we would secure the country, 2. revive the econoy, 3. we will fight corruption. Those three still remain as his topmost priorities.

In security, consider the first year in the administration. Was it the same way as it was inherited? No! There was an improvement. In fact, the insurgency was beaten up to the point it was said that Boko Haram has been technically degraded.

But later there was a resurgence. Not only in resurgence, but it also became Hydra-headed. The insurgency was the main problem in 2015, later banditry joined, later kidnapping joined, later kidnapping joined, and later cult killings joined. It became hydra-headed.

So, you don’t begin to say a government has failed for a problem that suddenly spiraled out of control. Security is a challenge. 10 months, one day to the end of the administration anything can still happen. A lot can still happen. You don’t begin to conclude that it has failed on security when its time is not up yet. For all you know, in one week or two months, this problem may be over. It can get done. That is how we should be, positive-minded.

And of course, there are successes in different areas like infrastructure, agriculture, social security, many others.. so you don’t take just one issue and use it to conclude that the government has failed. It is never done. There is no government in part of the world that solves all the problems in the country. It has never happened and it will never happen”

A police officer from the Nasarawa State Police Command, has been arrested after he allegedly raped and impregnated his 15-year-old niece.

Mrs Rabiatu Addra, who is the State Chairman of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, confirmed the incident during a press briefing in Lafia, on Wednesday, July 27.

According to Mrs Addra, a whistleblower had reported to them that the 15-year-old victim was repeatedly raped by an uncle she was staying with after the death of her father.

The FIDA chairperson said;

“Our team with the police took the victim to the hospital and paid for her treatment but unfortunately she lost the six-month-old baby. The state ministry of Justice further paid the bill for a DNA test as part of the ongoing investigation to ascertain the real culprit.”

The victim has been discharged from the hospital and is now safe and has been reunited with her family.

She added that the group would not stop until justice is served and appealed to the police to ensure a thorough investigation of the matter.

Addra also urged the police command in the state to ensure a thorough investigation of the matter.

Mercyland Church has finally released a press release as well as a video of Ruth Matthew who accused their founding pastor, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin of abducting her son, recounting her claim.

A woman, identified as Ruth Matthew, who had accused a church founder Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin of kidnapping her child has confessed to selling the child.

Matthew had attracted sympathies and attention after alleging that her child went missing at the Christ MercyLand Church in Warri, adding that the owner of the church, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin had a hand in the matter.

While the case was investigated by the Nigerian Police and currently in court, a video made available to journalists yesterday showed Ruth Matthew confessing that she sold her baby and seeking for forgiveness.

While her children were also been interrogated and cross examined in the video, the claims about the prophet being involved in the matter were denied in the presence of her younger brother Mr Joshua Matthew.

Earlier, a man, identified as Alfred Ayo, had appealed to the Federal Government to intervene in the case of his missing child, stating in a video posted on his Facebook page that Ruth Matthew, his wife and her lover connived to hide his child for the purpose of seeking undue favour.

Recall that the founder of Abuja based Human Right Radio, popularly referred to as Brekete family, Ordinary Ahmed Isa, who was at some point investigating the story slammed Ruth and her supporters over the case of the alleged missing child.
Isa, while speaking during a live programme on the radio station had said he won’t be used in pulling down anyone, stressing that the station would not be involved in cases that have iota of lies.

Reacting to the case Isa said the woman who brought up the case could not substantiate her claims and was also looking for ways to use the opportunity to move abroad.

While some people had accused the station of being bribed into dropping the case, Isa said most of the people accusing the station were only looking for cheap publicity and would have rather continued the case if they are able to substantiate it.

The development, which came up about three years, resurfaced recently as some pastors and NGO stood up to seek justice. The development had led the church to file a suite in court over the issue, stating that there was need to put final stop to the matter.
