A Nigerian lady identified as Tiwalola, took to Twitter to narrate how she was asked to cut her eye-lashes before her Nigerian passport could be renewed.

In recent times, many Nigerians have taken to social media to complain about their experiences at various passport offices across the country, and Tiwalola has now joined the growing list.

According to her, despite spending 5 hours of her time at the passport office, trying to get her NIN so as to renew her Nigerian passport, she was sent back home as the staff said they can’t capture her picture cause her lashes weren’t real.

The unnamed staff also suggested that they use a scissors to cut off the lashes so as to allow her capture her picture.

She wrote;

“Waited 5 hours in the passport office to get my NIN and renew my Nigerian passport and when it was time to finally take my picture and go home they said they couldn’t take it because my lashes aren’t real. They said I should bring scissors to cut them”

Tiwalola also further shared a selfie of herself, to allow the public see the lashes which the staff complained about.

Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Lovén on Thursday, shared before and after photos of a young boy they rescued in Akwa Ibom on December 2019 after he was branded a witch, shunned and left to die.

The condition of the child was so critical that they feared he won’t survive but one year after his rescue, Saviour Udem is thriving and doing well despite having tested positive for HIV.

Sharing before and after photos of Udem, Ms Loven wrote;

“Exactly a year ago exactly we were called to look at a serious case. A young boy had been spotted along the road and he was in a life-threatening condition,”

”It was just before Christmas and we were all busy decorating Land of Hope for our big Christmas party and suddenly we had to rush and prepare for a rescue mission.

“When we found Saviour he was in serious pain. I was not even sure if he would survive. When I made the update on the day of his rescue I wrote “his condition is critical” and that was because what we worried later turned out to be the case.

Saviour was tested positive for HIV and when infected, most children in Africa die within one year because of the lack of treatment.

Nine out of 10 children aged 0-19 years living with HIV are in Africa and one of the best ways to fight stigma and empower HIV-positive people is by SPEAKING OUT openly and honestly.

For many years we have educated our children about AIDS and they know that HIV does not make people dangerous and together with our staff they are at the forefront in school to enlighten their fellow students not to discriminate people who are HIV-positive.

As Nelson Mandela said: “Let us give publicity to HIV/AIDS and not hide it, because that is the only way to make it appear like a normal illness”.

Saviour was rescued in time and the urgent treatment we gave him saved his life. Today, one year after his rescue Saviour is a very strong and happy child. He loves to go to school and to play football

21-year-old Zambian student allegedly murdered by her boyfriend after she broke up with him

A 21-year-old student nurse, Mapalo Masiku, was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend after she broke with him.

Masiku had broken up with her boyfriend, Kaluwayo Mwika, to start a new relationship, but the boyfriend who was still in love with her, couldn’t come to terms with the end of their relationship.

It was learnt that after the break up, Mwika lured Masiku to a nearby bush where he strangled her to death, and also committed suicide by hanging.

The Central Province Commissioner of Police, Chola Katanga, who confirmed the incident, said Masiku was a second year student at Chitambo College of Nursing and of House Number 351, Mikomfwa Township in Luanshya, Copperbelt Province.

Mr Katanga stated that the incident happened on Sunday, December 13th, within the nearby bush of Chitambo College of Nursing, and Kaluwayo allegedly hanged himself at Chito Area, about 18km from the crime scene.

Police spokesperson, Esther Katongo said initial investigations indicated that the victim had a misunderstanding with her boyfriend who had just completed school at the same College.

Katongo said the suspect is believed to have called a friend to the victim to give direction to where the body was.

In her words,

“The body was found with injuries and was been picked and taken to Chitambo District Hospital mortuary and today. Police received information that the suspect has committed suicide.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner revealed the police looking into a recorded call that the deceased boyfriend had with one of his friends, where he confessed to have killed his girlfriend.

Exacts from the recording reads,

“I told her that let’s go somewhere and talk,we then went somewhere near the bush…We then talked about our relationship. She couldn’t cooperate.She told me that she has found a new guy called Patrick. She then told me that she no longer loves me, but she is ready to give me a child. She said she can give me anything.vWe then enjoyed ourselves,”

“Later the argument continued again because I was hurt, for her to leave me!. That’s how I strangled her neck, till she died. I then hit her with a piece of tree on the head. I don’t believe that she is still alive, if she is alive, then she must thank her God. I hope they will find her body. This is my last call, I hope that you will find my body, my phone is on, and the people who will pick my corpse will communicate. I’m using a small phone, no password…I’m gone!.”

Airport official caught with 10 iPhones stolen from passengers luggage (Video)

An alleged immigration official has been arrested, for stealing passengers items from their luggage.

The official was nabbed at the arrival hall and the luggage receiving center, with stolen phones from passengers.

In the now viral video, the official was seen bringing out the stolen phones from his trouser and shoe, where he had kept them to avoid being noticed.

Meanwhile, an honest elderly Nigerian citizen has been praised online for his virtuous behaviour after he returned the money he found in the restroom of a Lagos airport.

The man handed the money to a janitor who works at the airport before leaving the facility.

Singers, Omah Lay and Tems have finally returned home after they were arrested in Uganda for violating the country’s COVID-19 guidelines.

Their arrival to Nigeria was announced by the chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, via a Twitter post.

According to her, the artistes landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos from Uganda via Ethiopia Airline at about 12:35 pm local time.

She also expressed her gratitude to the Nigerian mission in Uganda, Nigeria’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama and the Ugandan governemnt for the quick resolution of the issue.

A physically challenged man known as Charles, has found succor in the generous act of Nigerians who helped him get a new prosthetic leg.

Charles became known back in October, after photos of him joining End SARS protesters on the streets went viral.

He is said to have lost his first prosthetic leg to police brutality.

Nigerians had donated money to help him get a new prosthetic leg, alongside Jane who also received a new one a week ago.

The young man, in addition to getting the leg, will also be given N217,000 to rent an apartment because he has been living at the National Stadium.

Medical doctor and Twitter influencer @aproko_doctor made this known via his account.

Sharing a photo of Charles during the protest, together with another image of him trying out the new prosthetic leg, the doctor wrote;

Restaurant manager slapped and arrested for insisting the owner’s girlfriend and her friends must pay for their food

The manager of a popular restaurant in Lagos was allegedly slapped and arrested for insisting the owners girlfriend and her friends pay for their food.

According to the Twitter user, @SayoIroko who shared the story on the platform, that was not the first time the owner’s girlfriend would walk into the restaurant, eat and not pay.

Then she started coming with her friends to eat for free and the restaurant manager had a problem with this.

Recently, the said girlfriend visited the restaurant again, in company of her friends. They ate and as usual was ready to leave without paying, but the manager walked up to them and insisted they paid for their food.

The lady got offended and allegedly slapped the manager. This led to chaos as the manager locked the doors and refused to let the women leave.

When the owner of the restaurant got to the scene, he scolded his girlfriend and pleaded with his manager.

However, the following day, one of the girls returned with police to arrest the manager, claiming he pushed and “kidnapped” her.

The manager was released on bail and is now threatening to arrest his boss’ girlfriend.

24-year-old Woman attracted to objects, ‘marries briefcase she dated for 5 years’

A 24-year-old Woman, Rain Gordon who claims she’s romantically attracted to objects, has married her briefcase, after dating for five years.

According to Rain, the attraction to objects, started off as mere captivation by objects, and eventually grew into a romantic and sexual attraction.

Rain revealed she got married to the briefcase, who she named Gideon, in a ceremony in June this year.

She noted that although she has had relationships with men in the past, she was always more attracted to objects than to people, and she was always happier in her relationships with objects.

Speaking how she met her “briefcase” lover, she stated that she first met her “future husband” back in August 2015 after purchasing him at a hardware store as a prop for a photoshoot, noting that her relationship with the briefcase became official a few months later in November 2015 and they finally tied the knot in June this year.

She said,

“My fascination with objects began at the age of eight, from my childhood I believed that a soul is embedded in objects, as well as everything around us. I believe in animism, which means that there is life in everything.

“During my childhood and early teenage years, I fell in love with places such as the new shopping center that opened in my city. I knew that it was wrong, and beyond the norms of society. I didn’t tell anyone.”

“I had no idea that we would end up together. I admired how he looked, but I didn’t think anything more.

“But then I started liking Gideon for more than that. I slowly realized I was starting to fall in love.

“I’d want to look at him for hours and feel his presence. After another few months in November the relationship began.

“We shared our first hug and kiss, and we spent more time together in the evenings and nights. We could have philosophical conversations for three or four hours.

“Our spiritual connection and communication is shown telepathically. I hear him, and he hears me, but from the outside it looks like a monologue.

“Gideon is more than just a partner to me. He is a husband, a friend and a mentor.

The Barrister’s colleague, Jirgba Terfa Jirgba has now taken to Facebook to share what he tagged “the true story” about the gruesome death of the couple.

Jirgba also alleged that the herdsmen gang raped Udam’s wife, who is said to be few months pregnant, before shooting her in the head.

His post reads,

“The early hours of today witnessed the most gruesome murder of my senior colleague and brother, Hon. Barr, Moses Udam, his wife and 3 others. I have taken time to investigate what led to the killings and also to ascertain the true story, since there are several conflicting stories around the incident.

What transpired at Agboughoul, behind Modern Market this morning that left the bodies of my colleague and several others dead is one of the several attacks by the Fulani herdsmen. Udam’s residence is located at the western part of Makurdi and is almost the last house towards the Benue River. The place has seen several Fulani herders’ attacks in the recent past and has practically been deserted as Fulani herdsmen have continued to lay claim to the vast land that stretches from Agboughol, Kpeifi behind NKST church, Kua to River Benue, where the incident took place.

The place where the incident took place is less than a kilometer to Modern Market, the biggest market in Benue state. Fulani herdsmen who have carried out several attacks on that community in the past this morning were said to have split themselves into two groups during the attack according to a colleague who witnessed the onslaught.

They arrived Agboughol, Kpeifi behind NKST church, Kua at about 11 pm with sophisticated weapons and were heard speaking in Hausa language with a touch of Fulfude accent. One group blocked the famous Kua road that leads to Ortom’s farm and the other group stood at Udam’s house directly facing Nyiko’s compound who is also a victim of the attack. The biggest problem in this area is the lack of access road. The road is practically immotorable and it’s very difficult to ply it even with a motorcycle. And to worsen it, there is no single police post in a community that houses over 5 thousand people.

“The true story is that Fulani herdsmen arrived the area crossing through River Benue in numbers and camped within the Fadama that stretches from River BENUE to the neighboring houses where our colleague also built his house. Mind you, our colleague’s house is the last house that when you pass you won’t see any other house till the next big village where herdsmen had slaughtered hundreds of people the other year.

“Their target was to silently pick their victims in their sleep and slaughter them from house to house and leave quietly the next morning without any trace. They began by entering the house of Barrister Moses Udam and one Mr. Nyiko, a blind man who is also a victim of today’s attack. When the herdsmen entered Udam’s compound which is unfenced, they discovered that the group that went to Mr. Nyiko’s house had been spotted by a young man who ran out through the window on sighting them from afar and was already shouting and alerting the public of their presence.

“The herders immediately became apprehensive and started shooting sporadically in order to scare people. They shouted in pidgin English with a thick Hausa accent and demanded that Udam must open his door. But as Udam refused they started shooting at his door until the bullets tore the door apart and they got inside where they fired at him even as he was shielding his wife. They cut his head and followed his wife, raped her in the bathroom and finally killed her with a bullet that went through her head. They also fired a shot at the nanny and cut her in several places and she is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

“They finally returned to Nyiko’s house and killed him with 3 of his grand children and ransacked the whole house, carted away cash and other valuable items and followed the river path to where they used their canoes and crossed into Nasarawa state.

“People who saw these killers know that they were Fulani and had come with a mission to eliminate the entire community. Their modus oparandi still remains the same. So to try to give another story is unacceptable”.

A Nigerian man, Dave Partner has opined that only poor people are victims of bad happenings in Nigeria.

Citing an example of how a container in Lagos has never fallen on the son of a billionaire, but poor people who are on the street, striving to survive frequently lost their lives to container accidents.

Dave also noted that stray bullet has never killed a rich man’s child because only children of the poor experience “bad Nigeria”.

Taking to social media, he wrote,

“Just to remind you that a stray bullet never killed a rich man’s child. Lagos container never fell on a billionaire.

“Somehow bad Nigeria only happens to poor people in this country.”

In other news, a gas pipeline at Magboro, along Lagos-Ibadan expressway, has reportedly burst open on Wednesday morning, December 16, leaving residents and travelers fleeing to safety.

As at the time of this report, the cause of the leakage is still unknown, however residents along that axis have fled from their homes for fear of a gas explosion.

Motorists and travelers are also afraid of plying that road for now, until the gas leakage is stopped.

Popular Ugandan singer, Bebe Cool was allegedly “chased out” from Nigerian High Commission in Uganda.

According to NBS Television, the Ugandan music sensation was sent was sent out of the facility alongside a news reporter, Kawalya Isaac Kaiyz after handing over Nigerian singers, Tems and Omah Lay.

However, the Nigerian High Commission in the East African country is yet to react to this.

This is coming after Bebe Cool was accused of playing a role in the arrest of the Nigerian singers.

The singer had earlier taken to his Facebook page to ask the promoter of the show, to cancel the event since Ugandan artistes had been banned from performing for months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nurse dies from COVID-19 barely 6 months after his graduation

A nurse, identified as Petros Tauya, has died from Coronavirus barely 6 months after he graduated from Sally Mugabe Central hospital, in Zimbabwe.

According to reports by Bindura Provincial Hospital, the 35-year-old nurse died on the 14th of December from the disease, which has claimed over 1.5 million lives across the globe.

The deceased is survived by his wife and a one-month-old baby.
