Tragedy struck the Household of David church on Surulere Road, Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State today, January 31, as fire engulfed the church auditorium.

A video shared online captures the moment the church was burning intensely with thick black smoke emanating from the building.

The sad incident occurred just a few hours before the church’s annual conference, the Mercy Conference, slated to start today.

Confirming the tragic incident, the Lagos State Fire Service spokesperson, Amodu Shakiri, revealed that the auditorium ceiling suddenly overheated, causing it to collapse and ignite a fire.

He added that the damage is being managed by members of the fire department and other relevant agencies.

The lead pastor of the church, Pastor Sola Osunmakinde, went live on his Instagram page moments ago to share the state of the auditorium, and everything was sadly destroyed by the fire.

An abroad-based Nigerian medical practitioner has recounted how she dumped her husband after 10 years of marriage because she didn’t love him.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the doctor with the handle @Nigerian_Doctor, shared how there was a misalignment of goals when they first met.

She explained that she wanted to complete her residency, have a baby, and relocate out of the country. Despite making it clear that she didn’t love him, her husband decided to come onboard.

Ten years later, she had achieved all her goals but still didn’t fall in love with him. Consequently, she made the decision to walk away from the marriage.

Speaking from her experience, she advised people to prioritize finding a partner who genuinely loves and cares for them so they don’t end up with someone like her.

During my recovery journey from a devastating heartbreak, I decided:

“Not everyone will marry for love.
Make I carry my cross & live my life”.

I had three goals as I was entering my 30s:
1) Finish residency.
2) Have my babies
3) Japa

When I met my (now ex) husband, I told him my 3-point agenda, but he was not listening. Men don’t listen well.

He was thrilled by my goal oriented personality but he didn’t pay attention to the fact that he was not going to be the centre of my world. He was not going to be an integral part of my dreams.

He shared my vision, since japa was his priority & he was ready to start a family. However, I had presented a “you go do or you no go do” disposition. Romance was not a priority.

When a person shows you who they are, believe them. Don’t allow misperceptions and misinterpretations. What they said is what they said. “I love her..she is such a goal getter” but are you her goal?

Anyway, fast forward almost a decade later, with lots of water under the bridge, I packed my bags and left.

Nigerian culture would say it was a ‘use and dump situation’. I respect that. I won’t even make excuses or try to pull any “even though” stunts.

Bottom line was that, after a decade, a critical appraisal of our partnership showed me we had achieved our mutual goals. It was a win-win.

However, a subsequent feasibility study showed that we were going to be shackled in a loveless and bitter marriage, if we continued into the next decade together.

Looking back, what were the major missteps here:

1) I should have chased my 3-point agenda on my own, while waiting for love to find me or vice versa.

I didn’t need him for japa or Fellowship, obviously. However, making babies was a different matter.

I knew I didn’t necessarily need a man to make my babies but I feared the stigma that the Nigerian culture & Christian religion would inflict on me, if I pursued my IVF/donor-facilitated single motherhood journey. So, I settled for the ‘traditional’ approach. Big mistake.

Sis, if love doesn’t find u & the clock is running out, make ur babies. Single motherhood can be with dignity.

2) He should have walked away that day, when I shared my goals with him. It was a business meeting but he thought it was a romantic outing. A transactional marriage was the only item on my agenda but he thought I would fall on love with time.

Even if he didn’t leave that first date, he should have left, when love didn’t grow. I didn’t hide it. I didn’t pretend. I was his everything but he wasn’t mine. I have been madly in love twice in my life and he was not one of them.

That’s why I pity guys, when they start this “what are you bringing to the table” conversations during dates. First date oh. 🙂

Reality TV star, Pere Egbi, has stated that the previous Big Brother Naija winners weren’t deserving of their big wins.

The two-time show participant implied that Nigerians voted emotionally instead of rationally, which is why the winners emerged as champions.

A 38-year-old mother of eleven, Chinyere Chukwu, has been apprehended for attempting to sell two of her sons for N1.8 million in Anambra State.

Chinyere was arrested alongside her 17-year-old daughter, Joy Chukwu, by the Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Honorable Ify Obinabo.

The Commissioner, posing as a buyer after receiving a tip-off about the transaction, successfully carried out the arrest.

During interrogation at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Center in Awka, Chinyere explained that she and her daughter decided to sell off her two sons due to economic hardship.

According to her, she was struggling financially to cater for her eleven children and opted to sell two to provide for the rest.

She said she initially asked for 1 million naira each for the boys but eventually agreed to sell them for a total of 1.8 million naira after bargaining with the Commissioner.

She confessed that her decision was influenced by her neighbor who successfully sold one of her own children, but admitted that it was her first attempt at the business.

Chinyere, originally from Ozubulu but residing in Okija, revealed that she had only two children with her late husband and gave birth to the remaining nine after his passing.

Her eldest daughter revealed that the plan was to use the proceeds to fund her tertiary education.

The Women Affairs boss ordered that the suspect’s remaining children be taken into the state government’s custody for proper care, and demanded the arrest of the neighbor involved. Furthermore, she directed authorities to trace and retrieve the child sold by the neighbor.

Nigerian stand-up comedian and host, Anita Asuoha professionally known as Real Warri Pikin shared some challenges faced by her after undergoing a weight loss surgery. She disclosed some of her experiences while joining the trending challenge.

Sharing her experience via her Instagram page, the comedian listed different challenges and advantages she experienced after her gastric sleeve surgery which restricts food intake and leads to weight loss.

While demonstrating in the video, the comedian had excess skin on her arm, belly, and face that is now sagging. She suffered hair loss, also people invalidate her process because she went through surgery to begin her weight loss journey.

The comedian stated that gastric sleeve surgery doesn’t permit eating and drinking water at the same time else she suffers from heartburn, and after the surgery, she finds it hard to excrete easily. People still question why she attends the gym after weight loss surgery.

Revealing in the video with excitement, Anita said she now fits into her husband’s clothes and she enjoys sexual intercourse. While in her wardrobe, she mentioned the number of times she had changed her clothes and adjusted her wigs.

She also claps back at people who criticized her for undergoing weight loss surgery.

Sharing in a tweet on the microblogging platform X, Daniel condemned the actor now-turned-pastor for saying certain things during his first sermon.

Recall that Yul Edochie had announced via his Instagram page that he was starting a church and had proceeded to commence the first service virtually.

Different reactions have trailed a clip that was shared online, which captured the moment a tricycle was ejected from a parking lot to create space for a Mercedes GLK.

In the video which was shared on TikTok by @blessingmuller3, the recorder could be heard advising people to make money.

According to him, if the tricycle happened to be a flashy car it wouldn’t be ejected like that without the consent of the owner.

Two security guards, pushed the tricycle to another spot while directing the GLK driver to make an easy entrance and make use of the space.

The majority however condemned the actions of the security guards who moved the tricycle. According to them, their type of rides should not be judged, it should be first come first serve.

Mixed reactions have trailed the news of a Nigerian woman who recently gave birth to six babies at once in a hospital somewhere in Nigeria.

A doctor working at the hospital shared the news on the microblogging platform, X, on Monday, January 29, sparking mixed reactions on social media.

@ehikowoichoo_ disclosed that they initially thought the woman was carrying 5 babies but were surprised to find a sixth child during delivery.

She tweeted,

“We were expecting our patient to deliver 5 babies but we found a 6th baby intra op.
What a day.

In a disturbing incident, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have targeted a private nursery school in Emure, Ekiti State, abducting both pupils and teachers.

The incident took place on Monday, January 29, when the gunmen intercepted the school bus along the Eporo-Ekiti route in the Emure area of the state.

According to sources, six pupils, three teachers, and the bus driver were kidnapped, and their current whereabouts remain unknown.

The abduction occurred near the boundary shared with Ondo State, raising concerns about the safety of the victims.

Tragically, this incident coincided with the shooting deaths of two traditional rulers in the Oke-Ako axis of Ikole Local Government Area on the same day.

The series of events has heightened fears and alarmed the community.

Addressing the situation, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has called on citizens not to lose hope, assuring them that every effort is being made to rescue the abducted children and teachers.

The governor condemned the heartless act, describing it as unacceptable.

The Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, confirmed that security agencies in the state are actively pursuing the abductors, to ensure the safe rescue of the pupils and teachers.

The ‘Who is your guy’ crooner mentioned this while speaking about how Craze Clown made his song go viral.

He also said that he had begged several influencers to help him promote his song, but they refused.

Recalling the experience he noted that Craze Clown loved his song, promoted it for free on all social platforms, and at some point, people thought it was Craze Clown’s song.

Nigerian lady narrates how a huge amount of money was mistakenly sent into her account

A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to share how 20 million naira was mistakenly sent to her bank account by a company in Lagos.

Sharing on the X platform, the lady identified as @ps_wears gave detailed experience of how it pays to be a good person relating to an event that happened to her years back.

According to her, she had gone to withdraw her salary when she saw 20 million naira in her account which got her shocked. She headed to the bank to confirm where the huge amount came from but was ignored by the customer care attendant.

“Immediately the bank froze my account and I couldn’t even remove my own money”

Recounting the event, she travelled from Ilorin to Lagos to inform the company about what transpired so they could get their money. The company thought they paid someone for supply but sent the money to the wrong account.

She stated after some weeks the company appreciated her kind gesture and a few years later she started supplying footwear for their factory workers.

“Weeks after the company sent 500,000 back as appreciation and to cover my bills for accommodation and transport… I supply factory workers footwears every year since I started selling shoes”

A shocking incident unfolded on the Ojota BRT lane in Lagos state as a motorist accused a driver of hitting and killing a girl before fleeing the scene, capturing the attention of social media users through a viral video.

The video, shared online by user @NeonAdejo, shows the motorist pursuing the alleged perpetrator, who was driving a Lexus car.

The person recording the video claimed that the driver had struck the victim and fled without offering any assistance.

Youth corps member laments he receives 2k as monthly salary from his PPA

A Nigerian man has come online to express his disappointment over the monthly salary he received from his Primary Place of Assignment.

The man identified as @OmHaddy shared on Twitter (X), the amount he received from his PPA for the month of January, 2024. He was paid the sum of two thousand naira.

The youth corps member lamented on how he is expected to upgrade himself with the ridiculous amount he receives on monthly basis.

He tweeted

“If I post a screenshot of how much I’m paid monthly where my PPA attached me to, this timeline would go bonkers. If not for prospects of being a 9-5 worker, this scheme is highly unnecessary.”

The youth corps member also attached a screenshot of the N2,000 credit alert, he received from his PPA after sharing his disappointment while describing why he feels the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme is overrated and unnecessary.

He concluded that the monthly allowance cannot sustain his daily expenses; feeding and transportation

A Nollywood costume designer, identified as C Prince, has been arrested for sexually defiling a 10-year-old girl on a movie set in Asaba, Delta state capital.

The horrific incident took place on Sunday, January 28, at the hotel where he and his fellow crew members camped for a movie shoot.

He reportedly took the minor into a hotel room to change her outfit for the next scene. However, he took longer than usual, prompting the movie producer to send someone to check on them.

Regrettably, the girl was found crying profusely with bloodstains all over the floor. Apparently, C Prince had forced himself on her after asking her to strip for a costume change.

In a video making rounds online, C Prince can be seen being interrogated and stripped naked by furious eyewitnesses. The hotel room was also covered in the victim’s blood.

It was gathered that the rapist was thereafter handed over to men of the Delta State Police command for prosecution.

In delivering the judgment today, January 26, presiding judge Justice Rahman Oshodi stated his belief in the testimony of the complainant and other witnesses who provided uncontradicted evidence during the trial, despite the defendant’s denials.

A Nigerian businesswoman has received backlash from internet users after an old contradictory tweet of hers surfaced online a few minutes after she tweeted about her standards for dating.

The lady who identifies as @preetyani had earlier shared on the microblogging platform X, that men who want her should always apply pressure.

She wrote; “You’re asking me out and not putting pressure. Lol, You’re not ready.”

The majority of the tweeps who came across her tweet were triggered by her statement and they quoted it with an old tweet of hers from 2020.

In the old tweet, she had talked down on men who wouldn’t take no for an answer when a lady rejects them.
