Despite The Feud, Peter Okoye Defends Paul From Trolls..

Psquare-Peter-and-Paul-Okoye-660x400

Thanks to the PSquare Family, their drama has kept social media buzzing over the last couple of weeks. 2 days ago, Peter Okoye announced his new stage name and management, and his brother Paul Okoye dropped his new song ‘Call To Heaven’, telling their late parents how they (the sons left behind) have failed.

But the messy drama has obviously not affected the love Peter has for his twin, Paul. Moments ago on Instagram, the dancer slammed a troll who said unkind things about Paul Okoye.

The Dance With Peter star shared a clip of himself practising his guitar and one of his fans, aiming to please him, insulted Paul. “Your brother Paul is a d**k,” the rude fan said, and went on to hail Peter, encouraging him to ‘move on’ because he is the better dancer.

But Peter didn’t take kindly to the fan insulting Paul. “Please don’t insult my brother Paul,” Peter said, adding, “he has nothing to do with whatsoever.”

According to RadarOnline, Yeezy slammed his wife, Kim Kardashian over her constant use of their daughter, North, on snapchat.

The website claims Kanye is not happy that Kim continues to put North on her snapchat despite North not liking it.

The website also claims Kanye and Kim will soon divorce.

Read Their Report Below:

‘As if Kim Kardashian and her fallen rapper husband Kanye West did not have enough reasons to fight these days, along comes Snapchat! The 35-year-old Keeping up with the Kardashians beauty just joined the popular social media platform on March 9 and RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that it has ALREADY caused a massive fight between the already fractured couple.”

“In this video, posted to Kardashian’s Snapchat just two days aga, she is shown singing in the car and suddenly notices that her two-year-old daughter is not having it! North also notoriously said in another snap that she’s “scared of Snapchat.” But although Kardashian doesn’t seem to care, West is another matter.”

“According to a source close to the KUWTK clan, “Kanye cannot stand the fact that Kim uses their daughter North to promote herself on Snapchat or any of her other social media outlets.”

“But is West, 38, who often references his children on his own social media, being a hypocrite? Apparently not.

“Kanye told Kim that it is different when he tweets about his kids because he is not actually putting them on camera against their will.” “Nori has made it very clear to her mother and the world that she does not like being filmed and Kim does it anyways,” the source told Radar. “Kourtney and her own mother Kris have come down on Kim over this and she simply ignores them too,” the insider said, adding, “Kanye told her that he will not tolerate this behavior much longer”

No 1 Hip-Hop queen, Nicki Minaj, graces the cover of Nylon magazine as she addresses her relationship with Meek Mill.

The rapper said:

“I’m not engaged yet,”“He said that my third ring would be my engagement ring. But sometimes he calls me his fiancée, and I’m always trying to stop him, like, ‘Nope! I ain’t got that third ring yet!’ We’re just taking it one step at a time. And, you know, if that happens, if I get married, then I’ll have a child, and that’ll be fun, because I can’t wait to hold my baby.

When he and I were just friends, he would always say, ‘You remind me of my mother, and I like that because you’re like a dude. You’re tough like a guy and you talk like a dude.’ So I always got the sense that me being tough and bossy was a turn-on for him. And it’s important for me to keep my voice. Being in a relationship shouldn’t mean that you lose your voice. Being in a relationship should mean that you’ve met a secure-enough man to allow you, in a sense, to remain a queen.”

Uche Jombo, Stella Damasus & Toke Makinwa Speak Out About Senate’s Rejection of Gender Equality Bill

Uche Jombo, Stella Damasus & Toke Makinwa Speak Out About Senate’s Rejection of Gender Equality Bill

On 15th, March 2016, the Nigerian Senate rejected the Gender Equality bill, which aims at ending all forms of discrimination against women in jobs, marriage, divorce, inheritance, property/land ownership.

Since then not only has Twitter Nigeria bashed the Senate for failing to acknowledge women be treated equally with men, celebs like Uche Jombo, Stella Damasus and Toke Makinwa have come forward to speak about the rejection of the bill and reaction to the bill.

Stella Damasus took to her Facebook page pushing women to do more than post their displeasure on social media.

She wrote,

I woke up this morning to a tweet from my sweet friend and sister Kate Henshaw. The Nigerian Senate had voted against the Gender & Equality Opportunity Bill. If you are reading this and you have no clue what what the bill is about, Google it and educate yourself before you continue this.

I was quick to respond to Kate, expressing my disgust at the action of the Senators elected into power, hoping they would make the right choices for the people who elected them to have a better nation.

Over the next hour, thousands of people started sending me tweets asking me to continue the fight and speak to the Senators and urging me to stay on the matter and all what not. One person said.. “You were very vocal in the #FreeEse campaign and we got results. Get involved now for results”.

I must say that I am humbled by these words but “I did not FREE ESE”, I only gave my voice to a cause to support a family that identified the fact that they had a problem and were willing to go to any length to get it solved. They needed the word to be out there and I supported. I did not have boots on ground personally to do anything, but they got up, they moved and to God’s glory we got results. My point is, Ese’s family did not start and stop their noise on Twitter and Facebook…they got up and moved! Also, a big thank you to people on ground who took physical action.

How does this apply to this issue of the Senators? Here we are again on Social Media screaming at the top of our voices (or with the speed of our fingers) seated in the comfort of our homes yelling at people who are flying around in private planes and don’t care about what in the world we are shouting about. The don’t feel any pressure because they don’t exist or live in the social media world where we spend our time fighting virtual battles. We are quick to come out and scream online but nobody wants to get up and be the scape goat.

A big shout out to my darling Kate Henshaw who has never been afraid to take anybody on, face to face or via social media as regards National and Social reformation issues . Much respect to you my sister. Where are the others who have the platform, status, fans, voice and the connections to pull global media and call these shameless men to order?

Oh! I’m sorry! Nowhere to be found right. This fight right here is not the place to showcase pictures of trips around the world, designer clothes & shoes, luxurious homes, academic achievements, awards, paparazzi, applause and self glorification so only the non-high fliers like Stella Damasus & Kate Henshaw should be sticking out their necks while others sit on the sidelines and sip on their bottles of champagne, watching the drama unfold. They look the other way because nobody wants to offend the senators that will probably be available to attend their events, premieres and launch of foundations; and possibly make huge donations.

I guess what people are doing is PICKING THEIR FIGHTS, which is a lesson I am learning these days.

A few years ago, I took Senator Yerima on about the Child Marriage issue and I was left alone to deal with the windfall of that episode. Some said I was seeking attention, others said I was jobless and was trying to get back in the good books of people. That didn’t stop me. When the Chibok girls were kidnapped, I called out our First Lady at that time, asking questions about the funds allocated by the US government to fight terrorism! It was reported by some media houses in Africa that the US government was paying me to stir up propaganda. No problem! I spoke publicly FOR MY COUNTRY but I suffered silently and bore the consequences alone.

When my property in Abuja got burnt, what did the media say – IT WAS ALL MADE UP!

Why on earth should I keep sticking my neck out when the women in the country we call our nation are not interested in getting their hands dirty and doing the work. All the big female stars and politicians are cruising in big cars and living in their big houses, fully aware that this bill has no effect on them whatsoever so why should they bother about sticking out their necks. Their kids wont be given way as young brides. They own the homes they live in so no in-law is coming to drag it with them if anything wrong happens to their husbands. They are not waiting to inherit anything from their husbands because they are well sorted out, so how on earth does this affect them? Does this bill add more items in their walk-in closets? I guess Nigerian women are not ready to get up and take a stand so why should a couple of us just break our necks over an issue that we as NIGERIAN WOMEN are not ready to FIGHT & STAND FOR?

Mothers, sisters, daughters, actresses, singers, market women, female bankers, female politicians and every other woman reading this; the choice is yours. Sit down and be ranting on Twitter. Pour out your vexation on Facebook. Thats where it will end. When the markets are closed. When the banks stay shut. When the schools stay closed. When the men don’t get the loving at night! When the WOMEN GO ON STRIKE, maybe the men will be forced to do what must be done.

Liberia did not get liberated through Twitter and Facebook. The women stood up and took a stand.

I live in America with my children and I can guarantee you that this bill, passed or not, will have no effect on me directly in any way shape or form but the truth is, when we all choose to turn away, What kind of country are we leaving for the generation coming behind?

Whats the point in all of this. I live in America and I am still speaking up. What happened to all the big shots living in Nigeria who have the voices and are LOOKING THE OTHER WAY?

Lest I forget, it is very important that I say this…. SHAME ON THE SENATORS WHO VOTED AGAINST THIS BILL.

While Uche Jombo wrote on her Instagram page,

Read through the Gender Equality bill (2011/2016) These are basic rights! Equal opportunities for men and women. Let’s get this off the way ‘Women Empowerment is not a threat senators’ anything done to assist the Nigerian woman is done to assist Nigeria simple. How can you reject Gender equality bill? Every Senator that voted against the bill should hide in shame and the annoying part is the excuses they are giving as to why the bill is thrown out this second time. FYI there are only 8 women in the 109member Nigeria senate …… It’s amazing what women can do when we come together. Our voices MUST be heard. Download the bill online read and education yourself then speak OUT (2011 version and 2016 version)

While Toke Makinwa wrote,

All we ask for is equality. All we ask is for equal opportunity, all we ask is that our little girls be giving a chance and not married off at 18. All we ask for is for our senators to deliberate over issues that will make life better and not reject a bill seeking Gender Equality. We want equal rights in marriages, education and jobs. Speak up. #GEOBill

Jide Kosoko’s Daughter Explains How Her Father Saved Her Marriage.

Sola Kosoko And Husband

Nollywood Yoruba star actress, Sola Kosoko who is one of Nollywood icon, Jide Kosoko’s daughters has revealed her father’s advice about marriage has really helped her in keeping a successful marriage with her husband since she got married couple of years ago.

Read excerpts from her Citypeople magazine interview below:

You are married with kids and you still look good with nice shape, what is the secret?
I will attribute that to God almighty the maker of my soul and body. He is the one who gives beauty and he endowed me with mine. So, I give all the glory to him. Looking glamorous all days is by God’s grace. We are here today not for beauty contest but uncle Debo’s birthday. He is a unique person. He is unique in his ways of talking, dress sense and all that. I told him all these the first day I met him.

What do you actually do to keep fit?
You think I am fit? I don’t think so ooo. Don’t be carried away with the body. Well, I don’t do anything extra ordinary to keep fit and that is the truth. As a matter of fact, I still eat late at night which I believe can affect my look and belly which I wouldn’t like but to be sincere, I didn’t do anything extra ordinary. It is God.

Unlike others in the industry, what did you do to keep your marriage going?
It is all for God. It takes only the grace of God to keep moving in that journey. I don’t bite more than I can chew. More so, my father’s advice has kept my marriage going because he told me then before I got married to be careful and watchful about any man that I want to marry, because after your marriage, there is nothing like coming back home as a divorcee. That alone keeps my marriage.

What is your view about the entertainment industry in Nigeria?
We are still there pushing it and we hope someday it will get better than the way it used to be. There was a time that we were actually going but at a point again, we started dropping but I believe that it happens and it goes.

What are your displeasure about the industry?
The piracy issue is number one. If government can really help us attend to this piracy, then all will be better for us.

As a graduate you are expected to trade in corporate organizations, what was your interest before you delved into acting?
I was actually introduced into the industry by my dad, Prince Jide Kosoko. Initially, I didn’t like it because I felt no I shouldn’t do that. As at that time, I was awaiting admission into the University, I didn’t really like that idea and I was like let me finish schooling, I can always come back to acting because education first, but he told me that you can always be doing it with schooling, I heeded his advice. To God be the glory today, I am a graduate and I have attained this level I am. My father convinced me before I joined. He asked me to star in a movie titled, “Omo Olorire” and that was 2001. I have done some before then. I was in Ola Abata in 1999, in 2000, he asked me to feature again and I was like why, you are turning me to an actor just like that, I refused but after shooting that movie, I got into limelight.

You grew up so fast in the industry; can that be attributed to your dad’s status?
He has done his part by introducing me and I continued from there. For everything you do, you have to be good at it because there is no shortcut to success except you work hard which I did to get to this level, and of course I cannot rule it out that his name opens a lot of doors for me but I have also worked hard to get to this stage.

Can you expatiate about the doors you are talking about?
A lot because most time, people don’t call me with my name, they prefer using Jide Kosoko’s daughter for me and I get mad sometimes when I hear that and I will be like don’t you know my name, call me Sola Kosoko. When I gained admission into the University, I do my things like the normal way other students are doing it. If we are asked to queue, I will gladly do that because I was a student but before you know what is happening, they will just pick me from behind to the front. I don’t know either that was from my dad or me because I was already famous as at that time. Right now, I have produced 3 movies including Shindara, Wosi Kenke and the last one is Ese Ni which is yet to be released to the market.

You haven’t been featuring in most recent movies, why?

You are right. This is because I am now back in school studying performing arts at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. I am not there alone. Myself, my dad, Abbey Lanre, Fathia Balogun and Toyosi Adesanya. We just finished writing our last papers a few weeks ago. And we are yet to do our practical in stage performance. It was meant to be 6 months but this is our 9 months due to the unnecessary strike.

CBN To Introduce New Charges On ATMs Cards And Cheques.

CBN

Multiple online sources have spread reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), disclosed that it is currently reviewing the extant Guide to Bank Charge, which came into effect on April 1, 2013. It has proposed a N100 monthly charge on every ATM card in the country.

This is apart from the existing N65 charge after the 3rd withdrawal within the same month. A monthly maintenance fee of N100 was also proposed every month for a naira dominated debit card when used, and a N50 charge for other months when the card is used or not.

N4,200-per-annum charge is also proposed on foreign currency denominated cards as maintenance fee. A N50 charge is also proposed on every cheque leaflet obtained and used at the deposit money bank’s counter.

This is apart from the collection charge on cheques, which is also proposed to be 1% of cheque value or Naira equivalent of US $10 whichever is lower.

To achieve this, the CBN, at the weekend, issued an exposure draft for information and comments from stakeholders in a circular to banks and other financial institutions in this regard signed by Kelvin Amugo, Director, Financial Policy and Regulation Department, CBN.

The CBN noted that wide consultations with relevant stakeholders were considered in arriving at the charges prescribed in the Guide intended to enhance flexibility, transparency and competition in the Nigerian economy.

Sister of Man Killed in Accident Caused By Ibinabo Fiberesima writes, Says “Justice at Last”

Ibinabo-Fiberesima-696x477
Biola Giwa-Adeyemi is the sister to Late Dr. Giwa, the man who was killed by Ibinabo Fiberesima recklesness.

She has come out to shed more light on the case between Ibinabo Fiberersima Vs Lagos State.

First of all, the case was between Lagos state Government Vs Ibinabo Febresima but not Giwa Vs Ibinabo Febresima.

On this faithful day of Feb 26th 2006 along the Lekki Epe Express way, my late brother Dr Giwa was driving with his brother and another family friend in his car coming from a meeting in Ajah, they were held up in a traffic around the evening time, when this tragic accident happened.

Ibinabo was driving towards Lekki while the late Dr Giwa was coming from the other direction facing towards Island, just by shop-rite, when ibinabo’s jeep flipped and lost control from her lane jumped over the culvert or pavement that demarcate the road from the on coming vehicle.

The speed that skipped and flipped a jeep over the road demarcation will be considered “Reckless and Endangerment” because the VIO dept checked the jeep brakes, the engine and all the mechanical and electrical of the jeep but the result shows nothing wrong with the jeep and confirm that the accident as due to “OVER SPEEDING” in which the result was on record.

After the accident, Ibinabo left the scene of the accident without checking for any survivors, she took the license plate and registration out of the car and fled from the scene, that was considered “HIT AND RUN”.

The people at the scene of the accident recognized her as Ibinabo Febresima, and stated she was drunk.”Driving Under Influence” of whatever she had. The State Department of Transportation has to use the VIN number to locate the Owner of the jeep, in which the owner was Daniel Wilson.

That was my very first time of hearing the name of Ibinabo Febresima. The Doctor died at the scene of the accident because the jeep was on top of the Honda accord driven by him and they couldn’t save him on time because of the seat belt and the weight of the jeep, the brother and the other family friend in that car had survived.

Did she know the state of mind and the emotional instability of the people involved in that accident up till now, Ibinabo has never been in a Comma.

After all the evidences against her, with the result of the VIO by the State department of Transportation, The DPP office took over and charged her to court and she hired Festus Kiamo in which after reviewing the case he withdrew by saying he cannot represent her because it’s a bad case.

Doctor Giwa has a living mother for goodness sake, wife with 3 children’s, Ibinabo deprived him from seeing his children graduate from university and getting married, also from being the one to bury his mother at her old age, “Whereas no one ever prayed that on the day of their children’s success and happiness they should replaced them with someone else”.

Ibinabo was never remorseful, they brought her to meet with me shortly after my brother’s death in GRA Ikeja before my return back to the USA, but her only concern then was to drop the charges against her.

I told her that it’s not my family Vs her but the State Vs her, that where I come from in USA that we do not interfere with the justice system, that they should do their job and advise her to apologize publicly to the masses and to the family and throw herself to the mercy of the court.

She said and l quote “I CAN’T DO THAT, BECAUSE IS GOING TO DAMAGE MY CAREER” what an ego, she cannot apologize publicly, I feel like kicking her ass. She’s worried about her stupid career, What happened to the career of the Doctor, who happened to be a ‘MEDICAL DIRECTOR AND THE HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL REHABILITATION MEDICINE AT GENERAL HOSPITAL LAGOS.

People say there is no justice in Nigeria, but it does once in awhile. The lower court magistrate O.A Isaac found her guilty with the option of 100,000.00 Naira, which is considered a judicial recklessness, 100k does not even buy an iPad, the life of someone does not worth more that 100k, so that people will take the liberty of committing crimes.

Later Justice Deborah Oluwayemi of the High court find her guilty and overturn the option of fine and gave her 5 yrs in prison, she spent 3 weeks and came out on bail to go to Court of Appeal, however, how can a convicted person came out on bail, here in USA you will be in jail and they will transport you to and from each time you have an hearing. Finally Appeal court found her guilty and sentence her to 5 years imprisoned.

Let her face the wrath, it is said that you can run but can’t hide, it’s a law of Kama that catch up, This will serve as a deterrent to others. Who will believe after 10yrs she will still be slammed, The Family of the late Dr Giwa had moved on with our life’s, She was forgiven, it was very difficult and painful, but God gave us especially his mother and children the fortitude to bear the loss.

On behalf of our families and friends, we really thank the Lagos State Government, The attorney general Mr Sasore, DPP Mrs Odutola and colleagues, Justice Deborah Oluwayemi, Justice Jamilu Yammama Tukur, Justice U.I Udukwe-Anyawu and Justice Tijani Abubakar and everyone for their support, no evil shall befall anyone, as you all go out and come in, may God’s grace and protection abide with each and everyone. ‘JUSTICE AT LAST’ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUSTICE AT LAST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUSTICE IS FINALLY DONE !!!!!!!!!!!!.

“IBINABO HAS NEVER PAID A DIME TO ANY FAMILY MEMBER OF THE LATE DR GIWA AS INDICATED BY HER FRIEND’S, AND IF SHE DID PAY ANY FAMILY MEMBER, SHE NEEDS TO START MENTIONING NAMES NOW”.

Nigerians Reacts To Claims Ooni Of Ife’s New Bride Is A Married Woman | Says She Is Royalty!

Wuraola Saga3

I’m more than certain that none of you, my dearly beloved readers are lagging behind on the controversial stories of Ooni of Ife’s new bride, if you are, then you sire most have been sleeping on Okada… SMH!

We reported earlier of a Facebook user named Lola Sotola who confirmed the rumours that the new Olori was still married to her alleged Lebanese husband.

Photos were shared by the user of Wuraola and the man, Eli Khoury on Facebook writing:

Is anything wrong for Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi marrying another man’s wife?

The marriage between Olori Wuraola, whose real name is said to be Itohan Sonia Obanor, and Khoury reportedly crashed last year although it is yet to be legally dissolved.

Reports have it though that it ain’t strange or uncommon for the Ooni to marry a woman who is already married to another man as long as she was chosen by the Oracle.

In addition, Ooni Adewusi’s sisters recently disclosed during an interview that the new Olori had been revealed to him by an Oracle.

“Kabiyesi didnt meet her a long time, it was the oracle who revealed her to Kabiyesi. They never met before” they stated.

Nigerians on the other hand, have their says in the story… While some are making rude n nasty comments, some are actually in support of the Ooni’s bride.

Nigerian Copyright Commission Raids Alaba Boys and Their Market..

Read Press Statement from NIGERIAN COPYRIGHT COMMISSION and Photos Below:

DSC_5242 (Large)

In line with the commission’s on-going fight against piracy and intellectual property theft, the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) carried out an anti-piracy raid at Alaba International Market in Lagos on Saturday, 12th March, 2016.

The raid followed a complaint by Mr. Gabriel Okoye (Gabosky), who alleged that a cinematography work titled “Invasion 1897” which was produced by Mr. Lancelot Imasuen in which he (Gabosky) has the sole rights to marketing and distribution has been infringed.

Facts before the Commission showed that the movie was yet to be released for sales. It is presently showing at the cinemas in Nigeria. One Mr. Eze Obasi, a trader in Alaba International Market, started reproducing and redistributing the film for sale. He was thereafter arrested by the police and transferred to the Commission for further investigation.

In the process of the investigation, it was revealed that there were other pirates who were engaged not only in the illegal reproduction of the named movie but generally in the racket of pirating copyright works in Alaba International Market. An anti-piracy operation was conducted by the Enforcement officers of the commission, and a team of policemen which led to the arrest of two (2) identified suspects.

On the 12th day of March, 2016, the Nigerian Copyright Commission as part of its anti-piracy operations stormed Alaba International Market, Ojo to conduct a search of the identified shops used by the suspects to carry out their racket. During the operations we discovered different pirated cinematography works, and duplicating machines that were used to illegally reproduce the works of several right owners.

Amongst the illegally reproduced cinematography works recovered from the shops includes, Invasion 1897, Phone Swap, The Wrong Selfie, Honeymoon Hotel, Breaking Ranks, Weekend Getaway, Oyenusi (Pt. 1 & 2), Prince Barmah, Contract, A Certain Night, Lima (Pt. 1 – 2), Alayo (Pt. 1, 2, & 3), Olosa (Pt. 1, 2, & 3), Irawo Osan. Other cinematography works found includes, pirated films and works of stand-up comedian – AY. These pirated works were confiscated by our copyright inspectors during the anti-piracy operation.

Whilst Mr. Eze Obasi has been charged to court by the Commission, the other two suspects are being investigated.
The operatives of the Commission were accompanied on the hugely successful raid by Police officers from the Area E Police Command and members of the Alaba market union.

Speaking on the matter, the Zonal Manager of the Lagos office of the Commission, Barrister Obi Ezeilo said that the Commission is investigating the matter and that the suspects will be the charged to Court. He warned people who are involved in piracy to desist from such act noting that the Commission is determined to fish them out and apply the law accordingly if they continue with their illegality.

The seizures from the raid were estimated to worth of N10million.

Dangote Truck Kills Couple In Lagos.

Dangote Truck Kills

New reports have it that a Dangote truck was involved in a ghastly accident which led to the death of a couple last night.

According to Famous Blog, the tragic incident happened at around 11:00pm last night at Abule-Egba bus stop in Lagos.

The truck allegedly had no reflectors and no brake lights, hence it was difficult for the oncoming cars to see the big vehicle. A saloon car rammed into the Dangote truck; the crash allegedly killed a couple who were in the car.

Late February, another of the company’s truck lost its brakes and crashed into shops in Enugu, killing at least five people.

Freeze Speaks On Ibinabo Fiberesima’s Jail Term | Suggests Another Punishment For Her.

Ibinabo-Fiberesima-

In the previous week, the court of Appeal in Lagos dismissed the appeal filed by Actors Guild of Nigeria President, Ibinabo Fiberesima which challenged Lagos High Court judgement sentencing her to five years in prison for the death of Dr. Giwa Suraj.

When the news hit social media, there were various reactions to the motion… her footballer son even penned a heartfelt note, asking Nigerians to pray for his mother.

Now, popular outspoken OAP, Freeze of CoolFM has also called for the pardon of the president.

“Should Ibinabo go to Jail for 5 years???” Daddy Freeze wrote in an Instagram post. “I ran a poll on the Roadshow on @coolfmlagos today, and callers voted 6:1 in favor of her serving the sentence. ”
“Do I agree? Well, no,” the OAP continued, and they added that her children shouldn’t be deprived their mother, plus there are other measures to punishing the embattled former beauty queen for the incident that led to the death of another man.

“… Let’s not deprive her children of their mother and not further traumatized them with the negativity associated with their mum being an ex-convict.

However, a N100,000 fine? Seriously???? what can 100k buy in Nigeria today??? Not even an iPhone 6! Probably an iPhone 5s at the most! So are you saying a woman would be deprived of her husbands love, care and intimacy in exchange for an iPhone 5s??? Or the children would be told “sorry guys daddy is gone but here is an iPhone 5s for you guys to share” really???

I am of the opinion that she should be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the children. This responsibility should be directly proportional to her income. Also, a portion of her income should go to the wife unless she, (the wife) states otherwise. No amount of money can replace a loved one. However, taking financial responsibility could help bring closure to the bereaved family.

I pray she is pardoned but she needs to show empathy and remorse, while being responsible for the family of the deceased.”

“P-square Split: Why Blame The Wives?”

Okoye-wives

I have been following the “developing” story of the feud among the Okoye singing and dancing twins, P-Square, and their older brother Jude, but not with keen interest.

The reason is because musicians (performing artistes, generally) by their nature, are given to squabbles, which are, sometimes, orchestrated to attract attention. Of course, many of the fights are real and often lead to splits, legal actions and even deaths, in extreme cases. Needless recounting some of them as we have a surfeit of such well-known fights locally and internationally.

So, why am I on about the P-Square fight, which, according to latest news, has led to the split of the twins? Among the reasons being adduced for their disagreement and eventual split is the role of the women in their lives. Interestingly, I know Lola, Peter’s wife, having worked with her in V-mobile, now Airtel. Even so, I cannot say what her role has been in the whole saga and I don’t want to personalize the issues, but I want to dismiss the insinuation that the bickering among the erstwhile “tight” is a result of the influence of their wives.

Let me start by saying that a family means man, wife (wives) and children. Any other person, including siblings, parents, cousins, aunties, uncles, nephews and nieces are part of the extended family. The moment a man marries, the definition of “family” must change otherwise there will be trouble. Let me put it on record immediately that I am NOT advocating total abandonment of the extended family, but that must come only after the immediate family. So, if you, a man, used to consult your mom or dad or brother or sister or uncle or auntie before taking a decision, your wife becomes your primary source of advice as soon as you get married. This is a reality most young men do not face until they start facing problems.

According to the Holy Bible in Mathew 19:46. Jesus said: “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE. FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH ‘? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”

Under normal circumstances, this quote wouldn’t require any explanation or interpretation but the extended family system practiced in Africa, especially in Nigeria and particularly the kind we have in the South East, has tended to undermine this crucial Biblical injunction. And this is one reason some people, in hasty generalization, have concluded that the Okoyes are being manipulated by their wives and as such have lost the “anointing” of carrying on together.

Now, much as I do not have any evidence to the contrary, I wager that the men rather than their wives are architects of their current conditions. Primary among my reasons for saying so is that if indeed their feud is engineered by their wives or one of the wives, then they have failed in managing their wives. Any man who cannot control his wife’s excesses and vice versa is not serious.

Secondly, any brother who doesn’t recognize his brother’s wife and her important place in his life is foolish. Thirdly, any brothers who do not pre-empt the influence of their wives even before they marry and plan for such an eventuality are not wise. Fourthly, how much acculturation do men give their wives when they are bringing them into a strongly-knit family, if there’s anything so called. Fifthly, and this is for those who erroneously believe that because they are twins, Peter and Paul are not supposed to fight, the fact of blood relationship doesn’t obliterate the fact of individual differences.

The last point is at the core of my submission. As siblings grow and acquire experience (socialization) they begin to manifest their differences. Even identical twins. Even Siamese twins! This is even more so when they get married and form their own families and begin to deal with other dynamics of life and living. So, as we say in Mbaise, if the music changes, the dance steps must also change. If you used to barge into your brother’s bedroom before, you must knock and wait to be admitted, after he gets married. It could be as simple as that!

Unfortunately, most guys prefer to play the ostrich with regards to their change in status and especially with regard the consequences-until trouble starts. And even when trouble does start, they pretend there’s no trouble and avoid confronting it until it snowballs into a crisis, like we are currently witnessing with P-Square. Perhaps, a stitch in time could have saved nine.

So, I posit that the importance attached to extended families is exaggerated. While it is not a bad idea in the strict sense of the word, it has the potential to cause rifts, divisions and wars. By the way, who hasn’t heard about sibling rivalry? In most cases, it starts even without spouses-as kids and teenagers. It’s just there. Vicious, at times. Unforgiving. Never-ending. And as soon as the spouses arrive, they are so easily and unjustifiably made into scapegoats.

Gentlemen, while I urge prayers and wish divine intervention in the sustainable existence of family ties, a lot depends on the man to protect his wife and at the same time safeguard the cohesion of the extended family. In the face of a choice, I’d rather keep my wife and children (my immediate family) than hang self-destructively on the other one.

So, in the case of Peter and Paul Okoye, if they have to split to make progress and avoid uglier consequences, let them split. After all, one mother can birth but not one god (chi) creates. It might as well be that the individual differences which Peter and Paul have successfully masked over the years can no longer be hidden. Let’s not rush to blame the wives, if we don’t have compelling evidence other than our African tendency to blame the women for every family feud.

By the way, I can’t verify an insider gossip that this imbroglio has nothing to do with the women, but mostly with one of the twins, who’s a lavish spender and more extroverted. Jude being the older brother and Manager, of course, wanted to control him but Peter won’t have it and wanted him fired. Paul won’t have that, and so they came to this sorry pass.

NB: Notice that I kept using man and wife. That is because I am strongly of the view and inclination that marriage is (and has to be) between a man and a woman, male and female-as God ordained it. However, I’m pro-choice, which means, I won’t bother with any choices you have decided to make in the matter, so long as they do not affect me directly. Even my male dogs know so.
