The Lagos state police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has revealed a corps member will be prosecuted for inciting the public against some police officers in the state.

A few days ago, a video of the corps member calling for help from passersby while being allegedly harassed by some police officers at the Ikorodu garage went viral and sparked outrage online.

A Twitter user named @realgoziee, who shared the video on the platform, said the officers had stopped the corps member identified as Temidayo David and his brother for a search and reportedly harassed them.

Temidayo reportedly created awareness and people joined in.

Sharing the video evidence, Goziee wrote,

“Another police brutality and assault witnessed yesterday as at 11am been 19-07-2022, by Temidayo David a Corp member serving in Lagos State.

In David’s word “I was heading to Ojota, me and my younger brother yesterday at Ikorodu garage, then the Nigerian police stopped us, and started harassing us, they asked for our ID card which we showed them as Corp members even in our uniform, that was not enough proof for them.

I asked them to check my bag if they will find any illicit substance or weapon in it but they choose to not, telling us to go inside there bus, then I insisted saying if they can’t do it publicly we are not going in, suddenly a police man on mofti gave me blow then they removed my cap, while my other brother was been carried like an animal.

I quickly created awareness then people joined in, so the police just snatched my younger brother phone and they zoomed off saying we should come to there station.”

However, in a tweet, the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that while the command has sanctioned the three officers in the viral video for alleged unprofessional conduct, the corps member will be prosecuted for inciting the members of the public against the Police.

In his words,

“That act was totally needless, provocative and unethical. It would have been a different case if a search at the same spot had yielded discovery of criminal items on them which would have warranted moving them to the station for further interrogation and statement taken.

“For this, CP Abiodun Alabi had ordered that the ASPs be queried and the Inspector defaulted in line with extant procedural rules of the Force. The corps member, on his part, will be prosecuted for inciting the members of the public against the Police”.

Nigerian doctor charged in the UK with plotting with Senator Ekweremadu and wife for alleged kidney harvesting

A UK-based Nigerian doctor, Obinna Obeta, has been accused of plotting with embattled senator, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife to traffic a homeless man into the UK for alleged organ harvesting.

Recall that the former Deputy Senate President and his wife, Beatrice, were arrested and arraigned before a UK magistrate court for allegedly bringing in a 21-year-old man into the UK for a procedure where his kidney was to be harvested and transplanted to their daughter, who has kidney disease.

The 50-year-old doctor appeared before the Bexley Magistrate court on Thursday, July 13, and was charged under the Modern Slavery Act with arranging the travel of a 21-year-old man with a view to him being exploited between August last year and this May.

A second charge alleges he conspired with the former Senate President to arrange or facilitate the travel of the man with a view to him being exploited, namely organ harvesting.

Obeta was on Thursday charged with arranging or facilitating the travel of another person with a view to exploitation and conspiring together with Ike Ekweremadu.

Prosecutor Tim Probert-Wood had previously told the court that the case involved ‘exploitation and the harvesting of an organ.’ The Prosecuting counsel told the court that the Ekweremadus had planned to have David’s kidney removed so it could be given to their daughter.

“The case began on 5 May 2022 when the complainant presented himself at Staines Police Station and claimed he had been transported to this country for the purpose of his kidney being removed.

He arrived on 20th February 2022 and was taken to Royal Free Hospital where tests were conducted. For the purpose he was there he did not consent to the taking of his kidney.

He returned to the house he was staying and his treatment changed dramatically. He described being treated effectively as a slave.” Probert-Wood said.

However, counsel to Ekweremadu, Martin Hicks, QC, insisted that the senator and his wife did no wrong

“We deny that there was any exploitation or any intent to do so. The argument will be factual denial.” He said.

All three defendants, who are in custody, are due to appear at the Old Bailey on August 4.

Ifeoluwa Bamidele, the young lady who made the news after set her husband, Bolu, ablaze in their home in Koka village, in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State on Sunday, July 17, has committed suicide.

Reports claim Ifeoluwa set Bolu on fire after she found out he welcomed a child with another woman. Their marriage was barely a year old.

This tragic development was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Osun state police command, SP Yemisi Opalola.

SP Opalola said efforts to reach Mrs. Bamidele who initially went into hiding in Ekiti state yielded results on Thursday after she was able to get a Non-Governmental organization to mediate.

Opalola said Ifeoluwa opened up that she was in Aramokoko and she then instructed some personnel to go and get her from where she was.

”It was when they picked her they saw she was behaving funny. They asked her what happened. She confessed that she taken a poisonous substance before she left Ekiti. We rushed her to WesleyGate hospital. They tried all they could so that she can vomit all the substance. They later discovered that it had been long that she took it and it had destroyed her internal organ. That was how she died”

A man has dumped his Wife after she gave birth to her fifth set of twins.

The woman shared her painful story of how her bundles of blessings became a burden to her.

Nalongo Gloria, from Uganda, was dumped by husband Ssalongo when she delivered their ninth and tenth child.

She said;

“When I got pregnant with twins on the third day, the man said this is too much for him and told me to go home.

Where he was sending me, I didn’t have their numbers anymore because I came to Kampala to work as a house girl,” a dispirited Gloria told NTV Mwasuze Mutya during an interview.

It was the beginning of a rough road for Gloria, who barely had anywhere else to seek help. Stuck in the middle of nowhere, Gloria’s lover, Ssalongo, gave him terms and conditions. “The man told me that if I can’t produce one child, he can’t take care of me with the dogs”.

Indian politician hospitalized after he drank water from a river to prove to the masses that it is “clean” (video)

The Chief Minister of Indian Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, has been hospitalized after drinking water from a holy river to prove to the residents that it’s clean.

In a trending clip, the Chief Minister can be seen scooping up a glass of water from a river and gulping it down amid cheers from supporters.

It was gathered that the CM drank the water, which is usually polluted with sewage waste from neighboring towns and villages, without hesitation to prove to residents that it was clean.

However, viral reports alleged that the CM suffered a perceived stomach infection shortly after and has been hospitalized.

Professor of Peace and Conflict Research in India, Ashok Swain shared the video of the politician scooping the water from the river on Twitter and captioned it, “Punjab Chief Minister openly drinks a glass of polluted water from a ‘holy river’ to prove that water is clean. “Now admitted to hospital”.

In other news, an Abuja-based Nigerian man, Wushishi Habibu, has claimed the word “Allah” was inscribed on the piece of meat he bought at a restaurant.

Habibu, who shared the rather bizarre incident on Facebook, said the event happened on Wednesday, July 20.

According to him, he had ordered a plate of rice and beef from a restaurant in the Federal Capital Territory, and when he settled to devour the meal, he noticed Allah inscribed on the piece of meat.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has said Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), does not stand a chance against him in the 2023 general election.

The former Vice President stated this during an interview on Arise TV this morning, July 23.

He said the possibility of Peter Obi winning the election is very slim because majority of his campaign has been done on social media and 90% of people in the North are not on social media.

He added that Labour Party does not have the right structure to win an election and it’s evident in the recently conducted gubernatorial election in Osun state.

He further emphasized that Peter Obi can not beat him in the forthcoming election as some analysts are speculating.

His words,

“I really don’t expect the Labour Party to take as many votes from the PDP as people are suggesting. We could have seen it in the last election in Osun state. What is the performance of the Labour Party?

This is a party that doesn’t have a governor, doesn’t have members of the national assembly, doesn’t have state assembly members, and politics in this country depends on the structures you have at the various levels — at the local government level, at the state level, and at the national level.”

“So, it is very difficult to expect a miracle to happen, simply because Peter Obi is in the Labour Party. After all, they were saying through social media, they had more than one million votes in Osun state.

But how many votes turned for the Labour Party? And then again, mark you, you’re talking about social media. In the north, 90 percent of our people are not tuned to social media.”

Nigerians on social media have started a #BishopChallenge to purportedly mock the APC over claims they hired fake clerics to dress in religious regalia to attend the unveiling of the party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima.

This comes after photos of Christian clerics who were present at the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate’s formal unveiling on Wednesday, July 20 sparked controversy online.

Over 50 priests attended Kashim Shettima’s unveiling in Abuja despite the Christian Association of Nigeria’s (CAN) opposition to the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

However, reacting, CAN stated that those who were presented as church leaders and bishops at the unveiling were “unknown clerics.”

“We are shocked, disappointed and worried about the desperation of some politicians who once claimed Christians do not matter in governance and politics but went to hire some unknown ‘bishops, pastors and priests’ to impersonate the leadership of CAN in their political meeting.

“This is totally unacceptable, reprehensible, unprecedented and ungodly. If they are saying Christians have no electoral values, why impersonating them in their meetings? We are throwing their principals and sponsors into the court of conscience.” CAN General Secretary, Joseph Daramola, said in a statement released on Thursday.

During a recent interview on TVC Connect, Etinosa disclosed why she was infuriated by the video and another one of Ada Ameh’s best friend, Empress Njamah, crying bitterly while setting up the condolence registry.

According to her, she recently lost her father and understands the pain of losing a loved one and it would have been nerve-wracking to see people making a video instead of consoling her grieving family.

She added that she doesn’t understand the kind of people in this generation because if anyone is truly heartbroken by the death of a friend or family, filming a video for social media validation would be the last thing on their minds.

She said in part,

“I lost my dad not long ago, when u saw the video of someone going to – I first saw a video of Empress crying placing the pictures and flowers and I was like why is anybody recording this lady in this vulnerable moment and in the video there were other people with phones I could see. What kind of generation is this? What kind of people are this? All holding phones, when they could be consoling her. That triggered me. I saw another video, someone walking into the place of condolence, there is a camera following the person, like if this person means a lot to you and you are pained about her transition to glory there is no way you would remember someone to take you”.

A Nigerian lady has accused some men of the Nigerian Police Force of chasing her away after she ran to them for safety in Lagos.

Taking to Twitter, @AnuoluwapoSisi said she was in a Bolt ride when the vehicle suddenly broke down in front of a police station, and the driver had to come down to look for someone to push the car.

Aanu said she became scared of being attacked or robbed, and decided to go to the police station to seek refuge pending when the vehicle is fixed. However, she was shocked when the officers chased her away from the station.

According to her, she had to wait by the roadside while praying not to get attacked, and ordered another Bolt ride to take her home.

“My bolt stopped on the road in front of the police station in barrack, my bolt guy went to look for someone to help him push his car then I got down and I’m scared I went to meet the police that can I stay with them till another bolt arrives, guess! They chased me away.

The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo has revealed what his government will be doing with the N100 billion he is borrowing.

Shortly after he assented to the 2022 Revised appropriation budget of N170 billion on Friday July 22, the Governor said the loan would be used for critical infrastructural development particularly in building roads, bridges and others.

The money according to Soludo, would be judiciously used to create wealth for the benefit of the people of the state.

A suspected ‘Yahoo boy’ has shared a video of himself bragging about carrying out a ritual to secure high-paying clients.

In the now-viral video, the man who was in the company of his friend at a river bank, is seen boasting about being involved in a ritual and showed off the ‘priestess’ that was carrying out the fetish rites on his behalf in the river.

Speaking in Igbo language, the man said he has been carrying out rituals to be rich and prosperous because people don’t just receive $50k from an oyibo man without a spiritual backup.

Legendary Nigerian singer, Femi Kuti, has received a brand new car from his family and friends a month after turning 60.

The Afrobeat legend turned 60 in June while he was on a music tour and couldn’t celebrate with his loved ones.

However, Femi Kuti was warmly welcomed by his family, friends, and fans, who organized a surprise birthday for him on his return to Nigeria and gifted him a brand new car.

Adorable moments from the welcome/birthday party, including the moment he was presented with the new whip, have been shared online by his sister, Yeni Kuti.

Presenting the car to him, Femi’s sister, Yeni said “We have missed you, you have been away for so long, so we all planned the surprise for you. This is the official handover of your birthday present”.

In the video, Femi Kuti also paid homage to his late father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s, grave for a successful tour.

Sharing the video on Instagram, Yeni wrote, “Welcome back the King of Afrobeat”.

A while ago, the first son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, disclosed that he wants to be cremated when he dies.

According to him, he doesn’t want a loud burial ceremony but wants a small ceremony with only his close friends and family members in attendance.

The 59-year-old Afrobeat maestro made this disclosure during his recent performance at the New Africa Shrine. He emphasized that he wants his body cremated, instead of being buried at Ikoyi cemetery.

Explaining why, the singer said,

“When I d!e, please cremate me, b#rn my body. It is the most hygienic way. Have you all thought about Ikoyi cemetery, this Lagos has been in existence for let’s just say 60 years and people d!e, if they don’t d!e today, they will d!e tomorrow and that burial ground has never been full and if you check it, it is not like it’s 1 million acres since I was little when we used to bury people there.”

NYSC confirms death of two corps members in horrific car accident on their way back from orientation camp in Adamawa

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed the death of two corps members, Nazir Muhammad Yahaya and Fatima, who died in a ghastly auto crash while returning from the 2022 Batch “B” stream one orientation course in Adamawa State.

The corps members died on their way back home to Kaduna State after the orientation course.

A statement signed by NYSC Director, Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, said the deceased were on relocation from Adamawa to Kano State before the unfortunate accident occurred along the Zaria-Kano highway after their registration in Kano.

The Director-General, Brigadier General Muhammad Fadah, on Thursday, July 21, paid a condolence visit to the families of the deceased corps members.

Speaking during his condolence visits to the bereaved families in Kaduna, the DG commended the patriotic spirit of the deceased corps members who paid the supreme sacrifice while serving their fatherland.

The DG also visited the other two corps members that survived the accident but are receiving treatment at the 44 Military Hospital in Kaduna and prayed for their quick recovery.

“The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah on behalf of the NYSC Management has condoled with the families of two Corps Members that lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident on their way back home to Kaduna State after the 2022 Batch “B” Stream One Orientation Course in Adamawa State. Popular Kenyan-Mexican actress, Lupita Nyong’o was recently filmed eating soldier ants at an event and she interestingly revealed that it was tasty.

In a video making rounds online, the iconic actress held a glass of champagne in one hand and a slice of fruit garnished with ants on the other hand.

When asked if the ants were real, she affirmed that they were and proceeded to take a deep bite into the fruit, and took some seconds to chew and properly taste the ants.

From the look on her face it was evident that she enjoyed the ant-infested fruit and she also confirmed that it tasted good.

Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable has paid a visit to the chairman of the Lagos State Park and Garages Management, Musiliu Akinsanya better known as MC Oluomo, to secure his backing and protection.

This comes after the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, ordered the investigation of the singer over claims that he founded two deadly cult groups terrorizing Lagos.

Portable had in a video said he founded one million boys and Ajah Boys known for their notorious activities in many parts of Lagos and Ogun states.

In a new development, the singer who has been enmeshed in different controversies in recent times, met with MC Oluomo for protection following the alleged threats that trailed his claims.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, MC Oluomo told Portable not to be scared of those saying he should not set foot in some part of Lagos state because he has influence everywhere.

“You said he should not step foot in Agege, Lekki, and Oshodi; who are in those places if not us,” MC Oluomo said in part.

The well-known tout also assured the Zazuh Zeh star of his safety, while boasting that he has people in all parts of Lagos state.
