Old chat of Benue Catholic priest killed by bandits in Kaduna saying “Kaduna is the only home he knows” (Screenshot)

Nigerians on social media have continued to mourn the death of Catholic priest, Reverend Father Vitus Borogo, who was killed by bandits in Kaduna State.

The 50-year-old priest from Benue state was killed at the Nigerian Prison Farm in Kujama in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna on Saturday, June 25.

Nigerian journalist and activist Steven Kefas, who took to Facebook to mourn the late priest, recalled how he had told him in 2017 that Kaduna was the only home he knew.

Kefas shared a screenshot of a chat with Father Vitus where he revealed he was born and raised in Zaria, and Kaduna was the only place he considered home.

“Yesterday, Most Rev Fr. Vitus Bogoro, the Chaplain of Kaduna Polytechnic Catholic community was killed by terrorists at the Prison Farm, Kujama. Why didn’t they kidnap Padre & ask for ransom? Why did they outrightly murder him? Padre loved Kaduna dearly and once told me in 2017 that Kaduna is the only home he knows yet the same Kaduna killed him for no justifiable reason.

“I am heartbroken, that a gentleman, a man whose humility is second to known had to die in such s manner by the bullets of some stinking terrorists from hell. Rest in Power Padre, Nigeria and Kaduna failed you! Elrufai & Buhari, it shall never be well with you and your generations”. The journalist wrote, sharing a screenshot of the chat.

Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo’s fiance, Pastor Blessed, reacts after Nigerians dug up old video of him referring to her as “his sister” (video)

Clergyman and fiancé of popular gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, Pastor Blessed, has reacted to an old video of him describing the singer as his sister.

It would be recalled that after the duo announced their engagement last Thursday, June 23, Nigerians dug up an old video of him stating that Mercy was like a sister to him.

Shortly after the announcement, the old video of the clergyman hailing Mercy’s unique talents, resiliency, and hard work during a sermon surfaced and, in no time, went viral, with many suggesting that this was the genesis of their love story.

Well, reacting to the viral clip while preaching in his church on Sunday, Pastor Blessed thanked those he referred to as’ special online inlaws’ who have been following them since the news of their engagement.

He went on to urge single men to be renewed in their minds, so that they may be able to discern and know when “a sister has turned to a wife.”

In his words,

“They dug up my old message where I said she is like a sister. Am I not a brother? She is my sister. When it is time to get married, look among the sisters and pick Who do you want to pick before? When Mary Magdalene came to hug Jesus, he said ‘Wait, I am going to meet my father and your father’. It has turned to brotherhood and sisterhood. The kingdom is one family.

People are carnally minded. We have too many Christians that are not believers. We have unbelieving Christians. Be renewed in your mind that you may be able to discern and know when your sister has turned to wife”.

How 7-year-old boy broke into house in Ibadan, cooked rice, ate all the meat in pot, drank milk then stole two phones and N4,000

A seven-year-old primary one pupil has been nabbed after he broke into a house in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, and carted away two phones and N4,000.

Nigerian Tribune reports that the minor also cooked rice, ate all the meat in the pot and drank the milk he found in the house, located in the Olomi, Ibadan.

He’s said to have opened the padlock with a key to gain entry into the room of one of the wives, Mrs. Adijat Fatai.

He allegedly broke into the woman’s wardrobe, rifled through her clothing, and took two mobile phones, N4,000, and other items.

The child proceeded inside the younger wife’s room as well, but he was unable to discover anything worth stealing. He was reported to have entered the kitchen, cooked rice in a kettle with a camp gas and ate all the meat he found in the pot.

After the first meal, he reportedly drank the milk he also found, and began to cook rice again.

He was said to have kept the phones with a woman in the neighborhood and ran out of the elderly woman’s house, telling her that he would be back despite her query on how the phones came about.

By the time he returned to his place of operation, the rice he had put on fire had gotten burnt, but this did not stop him from eating the remnants.

He was said to be on this when he heard footsteps and quickly ran to the backyard.

The boy was caught last Thursday, June 23, and during interrogation, he confessed to having given his grandmother the N2,000 he stole.

He also admitted to opening the front door with a cutlass, cooking rice twice, drinking milk, and returning to the house after giving his grandmother the N2000.

“Unfortunately for me, one of those living in the house met me there but I told a lie that it was a boy who came there to steal, I have broken into four houses in the last two days before I was caught today (Thursday).” He said.

However, Mrs Adijat Fatai, whose room was burgled by the suspect, said he stole N4,000 from there and not N2000 as he claimed.

Musibau, one of the sons of Mr Hassan Fatai, whose house was burgled, said,

“The boy ran to the backyard when he heard footsteps. We met all doors ajar and saw him at the backyard. When asked about who went into the house, he said it was a boy. He said he knew the boy and took us somewhere but we found nobody. He told us again that he knew where the boy kept the flask in which he put the rice he cooked. He took us there and brought out the flask.

“He promised to bring the boy to us if he sees him. We became suspicious that he must know something about the house-breaking and stealing. We told him that we suspected him and would report him to the police. That was how he started confessing that he was the one who broke in.”

The vigilante commandant of Oluyole Local Government, Olusegun Idowu, told Tribune that he and his men had been in search of the boy’s father, Ahmed Rasheed, said to a commercial motorcycle operator.

Rasheed reportedly promised to remove his son from the neighborhood after learning of his crime and acknowledged that the law would be allowed to take its course if he refused to do so or if his son returned to the neighborhood to commit another theft.

Meanwhile, the victims said they decided against reporting the case to the police because of the boy’s age.

People said I was a gold digger and married her for money – BBA star, Elikem speaks on failed marriage to ‘rich’ Pokello

Elikem speaks

Big Brother Africa star, Elikem Kumordzie has opened up on his failed marriage to his co-reality show star, Pokello Nare.

Elikem and Pokello met and found love in each other during the 2014 Big Brother Africa show, and got married a year later in 2015.

They however divorced in 2017 over irreconcilable differences a few months after welcoming their first son, Tristan.

Elikem speaks

The Ghanaian actor and fashion designer speaking in a recent interview with Zion Felix shared his experience from being married to the Zimbabwean Businesswoman.

He said he was labelled a “gold digger” for getting married to her because she comes from a wealthy family.

He told ZionFelix;

“Sometimes people would say Elikem is a gold digger and he is only there for the money, and sometimes it hit me a little bit. That is why I wanted to come to Ghana on my ground, so we work from the bottom up. I wasn’t so much insecure, it was more of wanting to do my own thing.”

He said they had a misunderstanding over which country they would settle down in after the marriage – which compounded their marital issues.

Elikem speaks

According to Elikem, he relocated to Zimbabwe to be with her but it did not work out for him so he had to go back to Ghana.

His words,

“There was a misunderstanding on where we were going to live. I tried to move to Zimbabwe for a bit. I dismantled my machine into pieces and traveled with it in suitcases. I had to start my business over there, I had a few customers. I was there for 2 to 3 months, and it wasn’t going so well.”

I tried coming back to Ghana, but for some reason, Zimbabwe was more comfortable for Pokello. Everybody knows she was good from the start, and I was the one who was rather working to make ends meet more. She and her family were quite wealthy, and I was the guy who was coming out of nowhere.

“I have failed in my life, but I’ve never failed in leadership” – Actress Tonto Dikeh

Nollywood actress cum politician, Tonto Dikeh, has asserted that she is confident in her ability to succeed as Deputy Governor of Rivers State, as she has never failed in leadership.

It was earlier reported that Tonte Ibraye, the gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, announced actress Tonto Dikeh as his running mate for the 2023 governorship election in the state.

In an interview with Channels Television, Tonto Dikeh discussed her candidacy under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), noting that while it has generated controversy, her choice to enter politics was well-considered and something she has been working for at least three years.

“I am prepared for anything, truthfully. I have had three years to work on this, its not something that I just came out or emerged with. We’ve had a lot of time to work on this and for this. Criticism, I am ready, non-criticism I am ready. So, it doesn’t matter where the questions are coming from.

The family’s three children drowned in a communal pool at their estate in Ajah on Sunday, June 12.

Punch reports that the couple had gone to an event when the three children left their house to swim in the pool.

According to an eyewitness, an alarm was raised after the three children were found motionless in the pool. They were immediately removed from the pool and rushed to the hospital where they were confirmed dead.

“The incident happened on an estate in Ajah. The estate has a pool generally accessible to residents. The three siblings were the only children of their parents. When their parents left home for an event, they went to swim at the general pool and drowned.

The Chief Security Officer of the estate was part of the people that found the children unresponsive and quickly rushed them to a hospital, where they were confirmed dead. They also quickly alerted the Ajah Police Station and also informed the parents that something urgent that required their attention had happened, but didn’t disclose what happened to their children.

So, the parents quickly aborted their outing. It was when they met the CSO and others that they were informed that their children drowned. Upon hearing that all their three children had died, both husband and wife fainted and were rushed to a hospital, where they were revived.

The children are all girls; the first child was 14-year-old; the second child was seven-year-old and the third child was three-year-old. The incident happened towards evening.” The witness said.

“I was in so much pain and had heavy periods for three-four weeks” – Tania Omotayo opens up on battle with Endometriosis

Tania Omotayo opens

Nigerian businesswoman and model, Tania Omotayo has opened up on her agonizing battle with a life threatening medical condition – Endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a painful disorder in which tissues similar to the tissue that normally lines the inside of your uterus grows outside the uterus.

The model, who once dated award-winning singer, Wizkid, spoke about the illness in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, and recounted how she went to different hospitals around the world with her dad but couldn’t get a proper diagnosis.

Tania Omotayo opens

According to her, she was in so much pain and had heavy flow for three-four weeks. However, the doctors insisted that there was nothing wrong with her and she was only overreacting.

She said she was eventually diagnosed with the medical condition after coming in contact with a model who had the same condition, and immediately underwent a surgical procedure to correct the disorder.

Tania said in part,

“Have you watched Africa Magic movies when somebody dies and they’re rolling on the floor?

That was me in the hospital. Yeah, with white doctors looking at me like I was crazy. I was screaming, I was rolling, because I knew deep down, in the last 3 years, maybe 10 years before that.

Tania Omotayo opens

When I tell you I’ve been to every doctor, every hospital worldwide, in every continent. My dad and I went to Austria. They told him it was in my head and I was looking for attention that there was absolutely nothing wrong with me.
I was in pain. I had really heavy periods. I would bleed for like 3 weeks to 4 weeks. I was in so much pain, I had to go to the hospital to get an injection for pain or to sleep.

I was constantly admitted in the hospital and the doctor actually told my dad to my face, in front of me, not like he said it behind my back, ‘She’s just a young girl looking for attention, there’s nothing medically wrong with her’.”

Paternity dispute: “King Sunny Ade is my biological father, but I have been denied access to him” – Woman cries out (video)

A middle-aged woman, Elizabeth Temitope, has alleged that veteran Nigerian juju singer, King Sunny Ade, is her biological father.

Temitope, who made this revelation in a chat with Punch, claimed that her mother told her the truth about her paternity after a prophet told her that there was a secret her mother had kept hidden for many years.

Temitope claims that after the prophet gave the revelation, she got her mother to admit—much to her shock—that King Sunny Ade was actually her biological father rather than the man she had always known as her father.

Temitope said all efforts to reach the legendary singer ever since had proved abortive. She added that she had approached the Human Rights Commission and wrote to Sunny Ade twice, but there had been no response from him.

She said that she wasn’t trying to get in touch with Sunny Ade for his notoriety or wealth, but to clear up any confusion about who her biological father is.

In her words,

“In 2019, a prophet called me and asked about my mother, he said I should persuade her to reveal a secret to me. I initially didn’t consider the message as important but I informed my husband but he told me not to disregard the message.

“He implored me to do as the prophet had said. My mother was staying with one of my sisters in Ifo. I called her, she came around and I told her what the prophet told me. She confessed and said the man I had always known as ‘Father’ was not my biological father. I was confused so I asked who my father is. She said Niyi, I made further inquiries to know his hometown.

“She said King Sunny Ade, the famous musician from Ondo State. I couldn’t believe I was just learning about it for the first time in so many years. My husband asked me to calm down because I was already tense. She told me when she was a young lady, her father wanted to give her hand in marriage to an old man. She initially declined but was persuaded to accept the man.

“Meanwhile, she had met Niyi before then and was already two months pregnant for him. She said she told her mother she was already pregnant but could not tell Niyi about it. She eventually married the old man but because she didn’t love him, she went to Ondo State to look for Niyi but couldn’t find him. According to what she told me, she was always quarrelling with the man and didn’t allow him to copulate with her and after several months, he sent her packing and she returned to her parents. It was there she gave birth to me and after a year, got married to another man.

“When I clocked two, the aged man who my mother was married to, came to pick me up, refused to send me to school. I was there for a while before I met my husband. After my wedding, we relocated to the north, I spent 10 years there and had all my children. My mother was not in the picture all this while, I didn’t even know her. But when I returned to Lagos, we reconnected.

“So, when the prophet delivered that message, I challenged my mother and she told the truth. My husband said she should take us to my biological father’s house, we went there but we couldn’t meet him. We went another day, but we couldn’t meet him. We were informed that there is a festival in Ondo that he doesn’t miss. We went there and saw him performing on stage, we waited but at the end of the day, the efforts were futile. Since then, I have been trying to meet him but it’s still the same.

“I approached the National Human Rights Commission, they wrote him twice, nothing. I’m not making efforts to meet him because of money or fame but because I want to know my origin.”

Kemi Afolabi debunks

Popular actress, Kemi Afolabi has reacted to reports of attending a church in Lagos for healing after being diagnosed with Lupus, a medical condition where the immune system attacks its own tissues.

It would be recalled that the 44-year-old actress opened up on her battle with the incurable disease few months ago and disclosed that the doctors said she has only 5 years to live and she has lived one year out of that already.

In a recent development, a picture of a woman being ministered to by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy made rounds recently and it was purported to be the actress.

Read her response below,

“Since the news of my illness became public, I have gotten reports of different misinformation and false narratives out there. I have ignored as my focus is on my well-being and health. I am a devout Muslim who believes in calling on God and seeking his face in times of need, this I have done consistently and JOY is certain in the End.

Sometime ago, a picture was circulating online insinuating that I had visited Christ Embassy Church for healing, I paid no attention to it because I didn’t see visiting a church or getting prayers from a pastor as a bad thing. After all we all serve same God I believe. Fast forward to Friday, I posted a video of me doing my personal Islamic supplications, @officialeelahandsome dropped a very disturbing comment today asking if I had just remembered that I was a Muslim or where was Islam when I was seeking solutions from the Church. Omg I was stunned at how insensitive human could get just to score religion points which can simply be considered as blasphemy.

I personally would like to use this medium to debunk such false narrative, never was there a time that I attended a church for healing, the picture circulating online is not me and I want everyone to please disregard it.

I have a personal relationship with Allah, I don’t need anyone to get through to him. Love, Light, prayer, support and peace.

Kemi Afolabi.”

“I’m still searching for my running mate” — APC Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, says

The All Progressive Congress Presidential flagbearer in the 2023 general election, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said he is still in search of a running mate.

Tinubu revealed this while speaking at a book launch to celebrate the 60th birthday party of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, that held on Sunday, June 26.

Showering encomiums on Gbajabiamila, Tinubu is quoted as saying,

“As a Minority Leader, he consulted wide and he’s always there to see the thinking of opposition that we must bring a revolution to the House to be able to beat the PDP. And then, he will brainstorm for any length of time about political strategy.

When he was challenged for the position of the speaker, I think after our merger he worked with me tirelessly. Femi is a workaholic. The problem of failure stared him at the face. He lost the election to become the Speaker.

I was close to tears. Stamping my foot to the ground I said ‘we will win again. Femi keep up. Pick yourself up.’ I am very proud of you that you did, you didn’t give up. You did the opposition and the support job. You demonstrated what we learnt from textbooks and other authors.

That life is not about education of one section of the society. Remember what we discussed about paying the WAEC fee of omo iya oniboli (the Son of the Woman who roasts plantain), and my Mum was alive then, asking me to see to it each time I gave her money, it doesn’t last.

And I said whatever you do with the money I don’t know. Mama will say no, those women there they are Mothers, they want to pay WAEC fees. And Femi was one of the first set of people I consulted. Are we going to say that the children of the poor are not deserving becoming Governors, Doctors and Engineers? I said I was afraid. He said do it. So that is how a junior brother can inspire a senior leader.

Femi with your determination, grit, you are a contributor to our democratic growth, thank you. You have character. You are a great mentor and you are doing a good job charting a path to success. You’ve done a good job and I say thank you, thank you.

What you did during my primary is a story for another day. I’ve spent more time, too many times and people might be bored, they might be envious too, they might be jealous. I won landslide, I thank you.

I could see his deputy (Wase) sitting down there too, you are a very good symbols of unity, dependability, and honesty, thank you. Thank you for both of you. You’ve not rocked the boat. I will need to learn from both of you, how you made the pair work because I’m still searching for my running mate,” Tinubu said

Tinubu had on June 17 submitted the name of Kabir Ibrahim Masari as his running mate to beat the deadline given by INEC. Kabir Ibrahim Masari, who hails from the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, is revealed to be a “place holder” until party stakeholders agree on the suitable vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.
