A new study on human behaviour theorizes that most men may prefer brains over the lustful body of women but when it comes to actually dating an intelligent woman, they are more likely to sprint.
This is according to a new study, after findings into what men find desirable in women.
A research published in the November edition of ‘Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin’, men may claim to find a woman who is smarter than them more attractive. But it seems they get cold feet at the prospect of dating such a woman in real life.
The study, was carried out at the University of Buffalo, California Lutheran University and University of Texas, Austin, was split into two parts.
The men were given an intelligence test and then told they were about to meet a woman who had either performed better or worse than them.
The men who were told they were to meet a woman who performed better than them “distanced themselves more from her, tended to rate her as less attractive, and showed less desire to exchange contact information or plan a date with her”, the study found.
The authors concluded that “feelings of diminished masculinity accounted for men’s decreased attraction toward women who outperformed them.”
The Nigerian Police have charged 20 pro Biafra supporters who were part of the protest by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Monday, in Port Harcourt, among other things, for treasonable felony at a Magistrate’s court in Port Harcourt.

Benson Sunday (21), Emmanuel Ali (25), Ukeme Monday (32), Chibuzo Ezechina (33), Charles Eze (29), Egbo Okechukwu (24), Chibona Ifion (47), John Douglas (20), Ezenwa Alphonus (51), Wori Endurance (30), Chinomere Nwolu (25), Henry Eze (36),Friday Uzunwa (22), Igodo Abio (34), Akaniyene Uwem (22), Eni Iboro (27), Obinna Stephen (26), Monday Ocha (37), Obinna Ibekwe (27), and Kingsley Ezengorie (24) .
They were charged for treasonable felony after allegedly destroying the national flag hoisted at the premises of a bank during their protest and chanting hate songs against the Nigerian state.
The three- count charge against them read in part,
“…on October 20 2015, at about 2:00p.m., at Ikwerre Road in Port Harcourt, the suspects and others now at large, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: Treason and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 37(2), of the criminal code, Cap C38, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2004.… all the suspects and others now at large on the same place and time, did wilfully and unlawfully damage the Nigeria flag, which was hoisted at Zenith Bank Plc. Ikoku Branch in Port Harcourt, and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 451 of criminal code, Cap c38 laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2004.”
Chief Magistrate Andrew-Jaja said that though there were arguments from various counsels to grant them bail, he was not convinced.
So, he ordered that they be remanded in prison custody till October 27 when each of the counsels will address the court on their bail application.
Miss Kehinde Adeniyi a 60-year-old single mother, has been apprehended and charged before the Isolo Magistrates’ court after she allegedly used a table knife to cut off her neighbour’s ear in Lagos.
The victim, Mr. Chigozie Chukwu suffered his fate after a disagreement between his wife and Adeniyi when he was not around. The incident happened at 24, Mohammed Sefiu street, Ago Palace Way Okota, Lagos where they reside.
According to P.M.NEWS, the two families have been at loggerheads which led to a strained relationship despite the fact that they are living in separate flats.
Adeniyi, who hails from Ijebu in Ogun State, is single and has many children, while Chukwu is also married and has children and hails from the eastern part of Nigeria.Trouble started after Chukwu’s wife, Anita, had a quarrel with Adeniyi.
According to Adeniyi, Anita called her a prostitute because she was single mother with children.
This did not go down well with Adeniyi who planned to confront Anita on that fateful day and when she did not locate her, she transferred her aggression to her husband.
On the day the incident happened, Adeniyi reportedly attacked Chukwu from behind with a table knife She allegedly cut off his right ear and threw it away.The victim who started bleeding profusely was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The matter was reported to the police and Adeniyi was arrested and taken to court for the alleged offence. She was charged with inflicting bodily injury by using table knife to cut off Chukwu’s ear. She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Abbass Abayomi informed the court about the seriousness of the injury the victim sustained and presented the table knife as exhibit before the court.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Adedayo granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
It was gathered that Adeniyi is making efforts settle the matter out of court.
A thief from Iraqi have returned 10 million dinars (Dh32,000) which he allegedly stole from a house two days after learning the money belongs to orphans, a news network reported on Wednesday.
The thief, apparently feeling guilty, left the stolen money in a plastic bag at the door of the house in the eastern Diyala province at dawn, Al Sumeria network said.
“We found the stolen money in a plastic bag left just outside the door.“The money belongs to orphans whose father died in a bomb attack four years ago,” the Iraqi network said, quoting a source close to that family.

Twenty people are said to have been shot dead by the suspected Boko Haram sect on Wednesday on a road outside a village in Nigeria’s northeast, Borno state, local sources said.
AFP reports that a large group of Boko Haram gunmen fleeing a military offensive on their camp in Nganzai district opened fire on four cars just outside Jingalta village, 70 kilometres (45 miles) north of Maiduguri, killing all 20 passengers inside, a vigilante and a villager said.
“We received information of an attack by Boko Haram gunmen on four cars near Jingalta village where they shot dead all 20 occupants of the vehicles before setting the cars ablaze,” said Babakura Kolo, a member of a local vigilante group assisting the military in fighting the Islamic sect in Maiduguri.

25-year-old woman, Chiwendu Nwobodo, who was bathed with hot groundnut oil by her neighbour in the Surulere area of Lagos over N900, has reportedly lost her two-month-old pregnancy.
Her husband, Chigozie, spoke with PUNCH Metro that his wife had also developed complications as her left ear was now oozing pus.
The suspect, Iya Daniel, had been re-arrested and detained at the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba. Chiwendu and Iya Daniel, who were neighbours, lived on Ogbomosho Street, Ijesha, in the Surulere area.
They were said to have had a disagreement during which Chiwendu reportedly kicked away some balls of puff-puff belonging to the suspect.
Iya Daniel allegedly demanded N900 for the damage, which the victim’s husband promised to pay. However, after returning from work on the evening of the fateful day, the airport worker was said to have gone to the toilet.
She was reportedly coming out when Iya Daniel accosted her and emptied a pail of hot groundnut oil on her.She was subsequently rushed to the hospital and placed on admission.
The suspect was arrested by policemen from the Ijesha division, but was later released on bail. Chigozie told the publication at the SDCI on Wednesday that his wife had lost her first pregnancy.
He said:
“She developed complications and started losing blood from her private parts. We were advised to do a scan, and the result showed that she had lost the baby.
“We were advised to take her to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. The doctors said they will have to flush her system to remove the remains of the baby. They also prescribed some drugs to her.
“I am sad because it was supposed to be our first child. We have been married since May 2014 and we were happy when our family doctor confirmed that she was pregnant. But now that she has lost it. I am angry because Iya Daniel caused it.”
It was observed that the victim’s right ear was discharging white fluids, while some parts of her face had peeled off. She also walked with some difficulty as her sister, who said her picture should not be taken, helped her to the door.
When Punch asked how she was doing, she simply said she was getting better. It was, however, learnt that Chiwendu rarely slept as she always felt pains all over her body.
Chigozie said she wanted the suspect charged for the injury on his wife and the lost of the pregnancy.
“This is murder. I want the law to take its full course in this case,” he said.

A 78-year-old man has left many taken aback after he reportedly committed suicide in Kano state.
A Mr. Hassan Chiroma, slit his own throat at the city abattoir in Kano, yesterday, 20th of October, 2015.
Eyewitness said the man was earlier sighted at blacksmith section of the market around midday where he allegedly purchased a knife which he used to commit suicide.
The eyewitness said:
“We mistook him as one of the numerous butchers plying their trade, but we were shocked soon as he turned the same knife against himself. ”
The witness, who preferred anonymity, stated that the desperate cry of a man in danger triggered pandemonium among traders who didn’t have the courage to watch the horror.
But the police authorities which suspected foul play over the development, has taken into custody four persons in connection with the tragic incident.
The police spokesman in Kano, ASP Magaji Musa Majia, told Vanguard on phone
: “We rushed to the scene and met the septuagenarian in his pool of blood, rushed him to the nearest medical facility where he gave up the ghost.
“We are working on two leads and the likely outcome of our investigation would certainly reveal whether it is suicide or otherwise.”
The police spokesman said the command had requested the hospital authorities to carry out autopsy to ascertain factors that led to his death, adding that the corpse would only be released for burial after investigation was completed.
