Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, have declared their assets.
A statement by the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu said
“the documents submitted to the CCB, which officials say are still being vetted and will soon be made public, show that prior to being sworn in on May 29, President Buhari had less than N30 million to his name. He also had only one bank account, with the Union Bank. President Buhari had no foreign account, no factory and no enterprises. He also had no registered company and no oil wells”, the statement said.
The statement further added that “the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), who had been a successful lawyer before his foray into politics declared a bank balance of about N94 million and 900,000 United States Dollars in his bank accounts”.
It added that President Buhari “had shares in Berger Paints, Union Bank and Skye Bank”.
The documents also revealed that “President Buhari had a total of five homes, and two mud houses in Daura. He had two homes in Kaduna, one each in Kano, Daura and in Abuja. One of the mud houses in Daura was inherited from his late older sister, another from his late father. He borrowed money from the old Barclays Bank to build two of his homes.
“President Buhari also has two undeveloped plots of land, one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt. He is still trying to trace the location of the Port Harcourt land.
“In addition to the homes in Daura, he has farms, an orchard and a ranch. The total number of his holdings in the farm include 270 heads of cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety of birds and a number of economic trees”.
The documents also showed that the retired General “uses a number of cars, two of which he bought from his savings and the others supplied to him by the Federal Government in his capacity as former Head of State. The rest were donated to him by well-wishers after his jeep was damaged in a Boko Haram bomb attack on his convoy in July 2014”.
The same forms, according to Mr Shehu, notes that “Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s asset declaration includes his 4-bedroom residence at Victoria Garden City, Lagos and a 3-bedroom flat at 2 Mosley Road, Ikoyi. The Vice President also has a 2-bedroom flat at the popular Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and a 2-bedroom mortgaged property in Bedford, England.
“Apart from his law firm, known as SimmonsCooper, the Vice-President also declared shareholding in six private companies based in Lagos, including Octogenerium Ltd., Windsor Grant Ltd., Tarapolsa, Vistorion Ltd., Aviva Ltd. and MTN Nigeria.
“His personal vehicles are one Infinity 4-Wheel Drive SUV, one Mercedes Benz and a Prado Jeep.
“As soon as the CCB is through with the process, the documents will be released to the Nigerian public and people can see for themselves,” Mr Shehu said.

The relatives of 29-year-old graduate of Anatomy, Dr. Adedayo Adewumi, have been thrown into confusion following his disappearance.
It was gathered that Adedayo, a first time visitor to Lagos, went missing on August 27 after he step out of the house for fresh air.
The family told PUNCH that Adedayo came to Lagos State from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on August 22 and was staying with some family members on Alawode Street, Kilo, in the Surulere area of the state.
Adedayo was said to have stepped out of the house on the fateful day for fresh air after a power outage. He was said to have left the house without his cell phone.
His father, a retired engineer with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Ademola Adewumi, said that he was worried because the missing man was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2006 while studying Medicine at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.
Schizophrenia is defined by the dictionary of Medicine as a mental disorder often characterised by abnormal social behaviour and failure to recognise what is real.
His father, Ademola, said,
“I suspect he is wandering around or languishing somewhere by now. We have gone to all the police stations in our area and beyond. But my major worry is that if there is a case of accident or wrongful arrest, the police will be able to tell, but they may overlook a case of a man wandering aimlessly.
“I have his medical records with me. He has been treated six times for the condition, but always had a relapse. However, since he graduated in 2012, there had been an improvement. That was why we suggested a visit to Lagos hoping that the change of environment will help.”
Adedayo was said to be the eldest of three boys. His younger brother, Adeshina Adewumi, a banker with a commercial bank in Lagos, said Adedayo had bouts of depression in the past, it made him to disconnect from people and to stop using his phones, adding that there had been an improvement in his condition following his graduation and the end of the National Youth Service Corps.
He said:
“While in school, he was often depressed. But when he finished school, his condition improved. Since then, he has always been in a guided environment.
“Shortly before he came to Lagos, he fell into depression again and my father suggested that he should come to Lagos with the hope that the change of environment would lighten him up.
“He did not have any disagreement with anybody, he was happy to come to Lagos. In fact, a day before he went missing, he was planning to go with me to Lekki.”
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Patricia Amadin, promised to get back with the publication on the matter.
Mavin Record Boss, Don Jazzy does not believe that he will win a Grammy, ever.

A 16 year old girl allegedly conned her boyfriend, family and friends into believing she was pregnant with triplets using a disturbing website ‘FakeABaby.com’.
The 16 year old was able to purchase false baby bumps to fool others with her growing tummy and even showed off fake ultrasound pictures of the three babies.
The teenager was spoiled with gifts at a baby shower and strangers offered donations for the young family, from Michigan.
According to Fox2, the young dad-to-be, boyfriend Jordan, also 16, was preparing for his life to change forever.
Speaking to the News Channel, he said:
“I was excited, don’t get me wrong, but I was scared.I started looking for jobs the best I could. I was ready to donate all my time.”
But, as her due date approached, suspicions were raised and her story started to unravel. Krissy Wyrabkiewicz, mother of the girl’s boyfriend Jordan, said she started to smell a rat when she could not find trace of the doctor.
“[My son] could never go to the doctors with her,” she told the news channel.
The girl was also reportedly caught out by a stranger on Facebook after she posted pictures of her ‘ultrasounds’ to a group named ‘Moms of Triplets’.
The mother, from Ohio, spotted the pictures were fake and traced them to a website called FakeABaby.com.
Jordan’s aunt, Tracy Matthews, told Fox2:
“Down to baby A, baby B, baby C, the placements of the babies – they’re the exact same.
“You can put them side by side and the only difference you’re going to see is that she used a fake doctor that doesn’t exist,She put my nephew’s name on the ultrasound, which you cannot do.
Last week, the day before she was allegedly due to give birth via caesarean section, she reportedly claimed she had lost the babies, but refused to see a doctor.
Her boyfriend’s family raised the alarm and police are now investigating.
The police in neighbouring Niger Republic have apprehended a Nigerian man carrying 4.6m Euros (N1.05bn) in cash. The man was arrested at the Diori Hamani Airport in Niamey, the capital of Niger, en route Dubai in the United Arab Emirate.
It’s reported that, the Nigerian police said they suspected that the man was fleeing with the money in order to avoid being caught by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been prosecuting an anti-corruption campaign since assumption of office on May 29.
They also expressed worry that there had been an upsurge in the number of Nigerians trafficking huge sums of money in cash through the neighbouring country.
The police in Niger are already working on the suspicion that the money traffickers have accomplices in the country. The arrest of the Nigerian has been a big news item in the Nigerien newspapers and television stations.
Curiously, the authorities here on Wednesday claimed ignorance of the money seizure in the neighboring country though the Customs officers in Niger were already kicking against repatriating the cash to Nigeria.

A media report in Niger on Saturday said the National Union of Customs Officers at a press briefing “denounced the request of the Nigerian authorities” to return the seized money.
The Customs official said there had been several similar seizures in Niamey from people trafficking money from Nigeria, putting the amount that had been so seized in several billions of naira.
They said the seized money had been mainly in dollars, euros and pounds sterling, asking the Niger authorities to allow the Customs officials to do their job without interference.
When contacted, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said he could not speak on the development because his brief was to speak for the President.
He therefore referred PUNCH to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“I speak for the President. On this kind of issues, I will advice that you speak with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he said.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the officials denied knowledge of the seizure in Niger Republic. The ministry’s spokesperson, Ogbole Ahmedu-Ode, said the ministry had not received official communication on the arrest of any Nigerian.
“I am hearing about this incident for the first time from you, we have not received any communication on the matter from any quarters,” he said over the telephone..
The Nigerien embassy in Abuja could not be reached for comment on Wednesday as calls to the mission’s phone lines failed to connect.
The spokesman for the Nigerian Customs Service, Mr Wale Adeniyi could not be reached for comments as text message and repeated calls made to his mobile line were not replied as of the time (8.30pm) of filling this report are investigating because the Customs in Niger don’t report directly to us in Nigeria.”

Following the reports of Head of States, President Muhammed Buhari, making appointments for the Presidential cabinet and how it favoured mostly, the Northerners, leaders of the country are raged with the new development.
In spite of the statement given by the Presidency that, very soon, Buhari would make adjustments on his appointments, a lawyer, Marcel Dim-Udebuani, has appealed to the Federal High Court in Abuja to nullify all the the 25 major appointments made so far by President Muhammadu Buhari for allegedly being in breach of principle of federal character enshrined in the nation’s Constitution.

The story, being reported by PUNCH, says that the plaintiff filed his suit marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/732/2015, in which joined the Chairman, Federal Character Commission as the second defendant, on Monday.
He contended that the 25 appointments made so far by the President were in breach of the spirit of federal character enshrined in section 14 (3) of 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
So far, not person from the South-East zone had been appointed into any position by the Buhari administration. The plaintiff in the fresh suit prayed the court to reverse all the appointments the President had made so far.
