Comedienne, Princess reacts as court sentence Baba Ijesha to 16 years jail term (Video)
Nigerian comedienne, Princess, has reacted after an Ikeja special offences court convicted and sentenced actor, Baba Ijesha, to 16 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting her foster daughter.
Princess had, in April 2021, accused the veteran actor of assaulting the 14-year-old girl since she was 7, and he was subsequently arrested but later released on bail on health grounds.
However, after months of legal wrangling, Baba Ijesha was convicted before the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on Thursday, July 14.
The presiding judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, in her judgement, convicted Baba Ijesha of indecent treatment, sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault of Princess’ foster daughter and sentenced him to a 16-year jail term that will run concurrently.
A few moments after the verdict was passed, Princess shared a video of herself singing along to a song of thanksgiving.

According to the 33-year-old singer, if someone wants to be constantly sad, they should spend endless hours scrolling through their Instagram feed and seeing pictures of people doing fun things and travelling on vacations.

Baba Ijesha sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting comedienne, Princess’ foster daughter
Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has been sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
The embattled actor was convicted before the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on Thursday, July 14.
The presiding judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, in a two-hour judgement, convicted Baba Ijesha of indecent treatment, sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault of comedienne, Princess’ foster daughter.
In her ruling, Justice Taiwo noted that the jail term would run concurrently.
Princess in April 2021 accused the Nollywood actor of sexually molesting her 14-year-old foster daughter, since she was 7. To back up her claims princess shared CCTV footage which showed the moment Baba Ijesha inappropriately touched the minor. ICYMI.
In other news, a Chinese father has sparked outrage online after reportedly abandoning his son at school after finding out he’s not his biological child.
It was gathered that last week, the man took his 5-year-old son to school as he usually did but this time, he didn’t return to pick him up.
Troubled by this, the boy’s teacher identified as Chen, placed a call to his father to ask why he’s yet to pick up his son from school but he vehemently refused to come to the school, stating that he conducted a DNA test and discovered he’s not the biological father of his son.
The angry father further stated that the boy who is being identified with the alias “Xiao Rui” is now the school’s problem.
Chen also went to Xiao’s house in a bid to drop him off but discovered that the place was empty and the boy’s mother was also nowhere to be found.
Following the incident, the school contacted the police who called Ziao’s grandfather and uncle but they allegedly also refused to pick the boy up.
The news has sparked outrage on Chinese microblogging site, Weibo, as Chinese citizens express disappointment in both the father and mother of the little boy.

Yusuf Lasun, the governorship candidate of Labour Party in Osun state, has reacted after the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, said his party and other ‘mushroom’ parties will labour till they die.
The former Lagos state governor stated this while campaigning for APC in Osun state on Tuesday, July 12 ahead of the forthcoming governorship election on July 16.
His words,
“I ask you to please do the same thing you did in Ekiti. Come out with your PVCs and vote massively for APC. The voting is now in your hand. Be very vigilant. Be watchful. You will not do it in vain.
Think about your children and vote accordingly so you can see the future. Come out en masse. Don’t mind PDP and other mushroom parties — parties like Labour; they will labour till they die. God will not make you labourers.

“I pity that man. I pity him. When you wish people dead, then same thing will happen to him too. I pity him. He can no longer get hold of his life. How can you come to that space….four years ago you went to the palace of Ata Oja and told the world that you are richer than Osun state and that you are going to give to Osun state a financial engineer. After four years nobody is seeing any financial engineering taking place in Osun.
Today you are here again, you say people will labour till death.
The man is telling people that you do not have to work to be somebody in life.
I pity that man. I am going to face that man. If he has all the power in the world let him do his worse. He is not the only Yoruba man. He can’t cow us. He can’t cow us. If he wants to be President, let him campaign all over Nigeria. Who does he think he is for God sake?”

Kaduna train attack: Family member of kidnapped 21-year varsity student asks for prayers
A family member of a 21-year-old student, Lois Azurfa John, who was abducted on the Kaduna-Abuja train on March 28, 2022, has called on well-meaning Nigerians to pray for her release.
The 300-level student of Kaduna State University and her cousin, Peace Aboi, 28, were among passengers kidnapped by terrorists who attacked the Kaduna-bound AK9 train in March 2022.
Peace was, however, one of the eleven hostages whom the terrorists released last month, while Azurfa John is still held captive.
The 21-year-old is the last born and the only girl among her four siblings, according to Moses, her brother.
Their parents had passed away within a period of two months in 2020, and Moses has since taken on the role of a father figure.
“She was on holiday in Abuja due to the ASUU strike. I had asked her to come over to Kaduna and start up a trade because the ASUU strike was taking longer than usual,” Moses earlier told journalists.
A family member, Lucky John shared her photo on Facebook moments ago calling for prayers.
“Azurfa needs our prayers, please let’s pray for her safety in the hands of the terrorists. I believe you are safe anywhere you are.” he wrote.

Two passengers killed as police escorts attached to VIP allegedly open fire on tricycle after rider tried to overtake convoy in Delta
Two tricycle passengers have died after police escorts attached to a VIP allegedly opened fire on them because the rider overtook their convoy.
The incident reportedly took place around 7:30pm on Saturday, July 12, at Ugbolokposo in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
An eyewitness who spoke to Nigerian Tribune said the tricycle rider was trying to overtake the convoy when the policemen opened fire on the occupants, killing two passengers on the spot while the rider sustained gunshot wounds.
One of the victim is said to be a ticket collector at Ugbolokposu Junction named Apepe while the second victim was a meat seller at Effurun Market simply identified as Charlie.
Following the disheartening incident, angry keke riders and youths in the community stormed the Ebrumede Police Station and threatened to set it ablaze. They had a major clash before things calmed down.
Confirming the incident, Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, said they’ve launched an investigation to discover the identity of the police officers involved.
“I can’t confirm the entire report. However, yes, we got the report that a yet-to-be-identified convoy around the community had an argument with the Keke, and one of the security operatives shot at the Keke killing two persons. Investigation is on to unravel the identity of the people who did this dastardly act,” he vowed.

Cannibal describes the first time he ate human flesh after killing a man and deciding to ‘try’ it
A Russian convict has in a recent interview on Nat Geo TV described the first time he ate human flesh after killing and dismembering a man.
The man whose real name is Vladimir Nikolayevich Nikolayev but dubbed ‘Vladimir the Cannibal’, was convicted of two murders in 1997 and sentenced to death but the ruling was overturned after Russia abolished capital punishment in 1999.
The 63-year-old killer who is currently serving a life sentence at the notorious K-6 Dolphin Prison, spoke with Inside Russia’s Toughest Prisons and recounted how he killed a man and ate his flesh.
‘I was coming home from a party a little drunk. And next to the door of my building another guy, also drunk, asked me for a light,’ Nikolayev said.
‘We started arguing and got into a fight. He hit me, and I hit him, and it turned out he died.’
According to him, he dragged the man to the bathroom, undressed him and stated cutting him apart.
He said he didn’t plan to eat him but decided to give it a try after the thought crossed his mind when he was dismembering the dead man.
‘All of a sudden something struck me and I thought I would try him.’
I cut off a piece of meat from his thigh and boiled it. I tried it, didn’t like it, so I chopped it up and fried it in a frying pan.’
Speaking further, he said he gifted some of the human flesh to a friend who took it home to his wife and kid, assuring him that it was kangaroo meat.
‘He took it home and gave it to his wife. She made dumplings with it, she had some herself and fed some to her children. They didn’t know what it was.’
‘I said it was kangaroo,’ Nikolayev added with a smirk. ‘We don’t have kangaroos around here. They didn’t know what it was.’
He also reportedly sold around 5kg of the meat at an open market claiming it was kangaroo meat, however, nemesis caught up with him after a woman pointed out the weird taste of the meat and took it to a doctor who examined it and revealed that it contained human blood.
After making the disturbing discovery, the doctor called the police who arrested Vladimir at his home.
The convicted killer will remain behind bars for the rest of his life on a diet of mostly soup and bread.

A video showing the moment an American woman discovered that she has been ‘catfished’ by someone posing as popular Nigerian singer, Flavour, has gone viral.
The not-so shocking discovery was made on an episode of MTVCatfish when the singer was contacted by the show host to inquire if he knows the young woman, identified as Kimberly.
Apparently, Kimberly had been chatting with someone pretending to be the ‘Nwa Baby’ crooner for about six months and believed it was the singer.
However, when Flavour was contacted on video call, he said he doesn’t know the woman and noted that this is not the first time he’s meeting someone who has been deceived by someone pretending to be him.
To prevent a reoccurrence, the Enugu-born singer noted that all his social media accounts are verified and he doesn’t give out his personal information to strangers.
The 38-year-old music star who was sympathetic towards Kimberly, then apologized to her over the traumatic experience.

Video shows massive group of illegal migrants crossing into US
Hundreds of illegal migrants have been captured on camera crossing into the United States through the southern border in Texas.
This reportedly marks one of the largest groups to flood into the U.S. in recent months.
In the video shared on Twitter by Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, hundreds of illegal border crossers were being guided into the water by smugglers at the river in Eagle Pass, Texas, on Wednesday, July 14.
“The line of people went so far into the trees, it’s hard to get a count. Hundreds upon hundreds.” Melugin tweeted.
In another tweet, Melugin revealed that when the group first entered the water, no Border Patrol officers were on scene, “only one Texas National Guard humvee.”
Federal sources told Fox there were 2,258 illegal crossings in Del Rio Sector on Tuesday alone. Over a seven-day period, there were more than 13,000 crossings in the sector.
Texas lawmakers immediately accused the Biden administration of enabling the crossings, and called on the White House to work with Congress to stop the border crisis.
“This is one of the biggest groups we have EVER seen at our southern border. The time is now for this Administration to work with Congress to disincentivize this dangerous mass migration,” Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) tweeted.
“The Biden administration needs to wake up and stop ignoring the very real, very dangerous situation at our southern border,” Rep. Randy Weber (R-Texas) wrote.

Kenyan woman allegedly stabs her husband to death over phone text messages
A Kenyan woman, Cyndy Trinic, has been arrested by the police for allegedly stabbing her husband to death during a fight that broke out over his refusal to give her his phone to go through his text messages.
According to witnesses, the deceased, 31-year-old Charles Okoth Onyango, walked to a bar located along Homa Bay-Kendu Bay Road, ordered some drinks, and was seated alone at a corner before his wife later joined him.
They got into an altercation while they were both drinking. The suspect is said to have been requesting Onyango’s phone to read the texts the deceased had been getting.
Onyango reportedly refused to release control of the phone and started accusing the suspect of interrogating him instead.
What started as a simple conversation between the couple later turned out to be a quarrel that attracted the attention of other patrons at the bar.
At the time the argument got to its peak, the woman withdrew a knife and stabbed Onyango in the chest. She’s said to have carried the knife in her handbag.
Onyango died at the scene after being seriously wounded on the chest.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, July 13.
Homa Bay town location Chief Joshua Ochogo, who confirmed the incident said the couple was acting under the influence of alcohol.
“They were drunk and their actions were controlled by alcohol,” he said.
Homa Bay Sub county Police Commander, Sammy Koskeyi said investigation into the incident is ongoing. “The suspect is in custody as investigators look into what led to their disagreement,” he said.
The body of the deceased was taken to Homa Bay County teaching and referral hospital mortuary.
Body of driver of vehicle swept away by flood in Lagos finally recovered
In a new update, the corpse of the driver of the Lexus Jeep that was swept away by flood in the Orile Agege area of Lagos state over the weekend has been recovered.
It would be recalled that the white Jeep was swept away by heavy flood during the torrential rain that fell on Saturday, July 9. Three passengers of the vehicle were rescued alive while one occupants managed to escape in the nick of time.
Sadly, the lifeless body of the owner of the vehicle who has been identified as Oluwaseyi Last Born, has been found in Aboru. It’s presumed that he was the one driving the car when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Another occupant, identified as Oluwaseyi Vella, has also been confirmed dead.

Reacting to this, actor Patrick Doyle took to his Facebook page to dispute claims that Joke Silva is merely reciprocating the love and attention she received from her husband when the going was good.
According to him, Joke is loyal to her husband because she is old-schooled and belongs to the category of women who stand by their men because it’s the right thing to do.

“All those women hinging Joke Silva’s devotion to her ailing elderly husband on his devotion and care towards her in the early stages of the marriage have simply got it wrong. According to them “not so faithful and devoted husbands” should not to expect the same kind of treatment in the twilight of their lives, they even go as far as telling such men to expect torment from their wives in old age. In their little minds they have concluded that Joke Silva shares this flawed philosophy of theirs.
The Joke that I know would have still treated Uncle Olu with the same measure of love and devotion even if he were a philanderer and wife beater, which thankfully he was not. She would never have taken advantage of his vulnerability to torture him because, it’s simply not in her DNA to do so. She belongs to the old school where dignity and honour count and where doing the right thing is not contingent upon reciprocity.

“Hell does not exist, there will be no Judgement Day” – Music producer, Mr Logic
Controversial Ghanaian music producer and radio entertainment pundit, Emmanuel Bance, popularly known as Mr. Logic, has said that hell does not exist.
Speaking in a recent interview on the Day Break Hitz show on Hitz FM in Accra, he also asserted that there will be no judgement day as Christianity preaches.
According to him, God does not have the time to line people up and ask them questions about how they lived their lives on earth.
“Death in itself is a punishment. There’s no hell anywhere. God doesn’t have the time to line up people to ask them how many people they slept with and all that. God doesn’t have time for that. There’s no such thing in the Bible.” He said.
In related news, a viral video of a popular Nigerian pastor assuring his congregation that sin can never take a man to hell has stirred controversy on social media.
According to the clergy man, it’s impossible for an unrepentant sinner to go to hell because Jesus Christ died to pay for the sins of men.
Speaking during a church service the preacher emphasized that Jesus’ death was not an accident, but he died intentionally to pay for the sins of men so that sin cannot claim those that have faith in Christ.

Popular actress, Oyebade Adebimpe Adedimeji otherwise known as Mo Bimpe, has finally addressed alleged reports that her husband, actor Lateef Adedimeji, was once married with a child.
Following news that the couple were getting married in December 2021, several reports made rounds alleging that Lateef already had a wife and was marrying Mo Bimpe because she was pregnant for him.
However, Mo Bimpe repeatedly cleared the air about the report and noted that she was not pregnant and was trusting God to bless them with children at the right time.

President Muhammadu Buhari says he is leaving not any inheritance for his children beyond the training and education he gave them.
Buhari made the statement in Daura, Katsina as he implored parents to inculcate right values in children, including the fear of God, respect for constituted authorities and living a purposeful life through continuous education.
In his words; “I was locked up for more than three years, after leading the country. At that point, I realised and I told my children that your net worth is what is in your head, not what you have acquired in life.
My focus has always been on training the children to be relevant wherever they find themselves. I told my children, particularly the girls, that they can only get married after getting first degree.
They already know that I am not leaving anything for anyone to inherit. My greatest legacy to the children is to ensure they are properly educated.

Popular Nollywood actress, Mo Bimpe, has finally reacted to reports that she and Yomi Fabiyi fell out because he demanded sex for a movie role.
Recall that the actor and movie director was recently called out by his baby mama, Grace Amarachi, who accused him of demanding coitus from actresses to feature them in his movie.
It was alleged that Grace’s relationship with the actor was a case of “sex for roles,” which eventually led to pregnancy. Amid this, rumours also started peddling that Mo Bimpe and Yomi Fabiyi fell out because he demanded intercourse in exchange for a role in his movie.
A fan during a question and answer session asked the actress to clear the air on these allegations, and she responded.
“Is it true that you and yomi dey fight because of s3x for role?”, the fan asked.
Replying, Bimpe said the allegations are not true and he didn’t and he didn’t ask her out until they finished the movie they were both working on.
However, she said he told her that if he knew she would turn him down, then he would have asked her out before they shot the movie.
