Pounded Yam

This meal which is referred to as “Solid” among others in restaurants is the favourite meal of one of YBL’s authors, Daniel, as the meal is said to have originated from his state. So it’s only natural that it’s his favourite.

Pounded yam is a popular delicacy among many Nigerians. It is accompanied with various kinds of soups such as okro, ewedu, egusi, ogbono, etc.

The meal is made by boiling raw yams and then pounding it into dough-like mass or mixing hot water with yam powder. This meal requires considerable experience in its preparation, but that has changed a lot since they invented Pounding machines which make the meal easier.
