Award winning, light skinned and beautiful Doris Simeon is a talented actress, master of ceremony and TV show host. She is also estranged wife of filmmaker, Daniel Ademinokan.
Doris had a chat with ABIOLA ALABA PETERS where she talked about her relationship with her ex-husband’s wife, Stella Damasus. Excerpts:
How would you describe 2016 so far?
Well, I can’t complain. I just thank God for his grace, his mercies, the gift of life and endless blessings.
You have been off the movie scene for a while. What happened?
It’s just that I’m really scared. I just have to be choosy when it comes to acting now. There is a level you get to in your career, one needs to be careful so as not to spoil all you’ve built over the years on the screen with one stupid movie. So I’m only just trying to be careful and choosy in the kind of productions that I find myself.
Is it true that if you are not light skinned in the industry, you can’t get a role?
No, that is not true, whoever said that is lying. We have many dark skinned actresses in the industry that are doing great. Funke Akindele isn’t light skinned; Liz Da Silver and many more.
We have some topnotch dark skinned actresses that have done so well. It’s a thing of choice; it’s even funny when somebody just comes up and says, ‘oh I don’t like the way God created me’ and decides to change it, so it’s a thing of choice. I don’t believe in that notion.
You were rumoured to be in a relationship with a journalist called Wale Olaleye. How true was that story?
This Wale you are talking about just got married last August. So if he got married to me, people will know and it will be all over the Internet, everybody knows his wife now.
So who is Wale to you?
He is just a friend.
You never dated?
No comment on that. You see, one will always have a relationship with a guy and people will want to build a story around it and even if Wale and I dated and I moved to his house, that was before he got married.
So if they say all those things about me, I’m not moved because it’s a normal thing and I’m used to it.
Even if I’m walking on the street with another person I’m probably working with, people will still make out stories from it, so I’m not bothered.
So are you in a relationship now?
I’m in a relationship with God, my business, my career for now and my son.
That’s to say you’ve given up on love and marriage?
No, not at all, I believe that when God says its time, its time. I will never ever give up on love or marriage or trying again, I still believe in love.
How often do you see your son, are you with him now?
No, I am not.
Would you accept your ex-husband if he comes begging?
No, I won’t, all I want is my son.
Do you have your son now?
No I don’t.
So what do you hope to do about that?
Well, we are still in court, so I don’t say much about it.
Are you both still in touch?
We are in court; let both parties be for now.
What about Stella?
I am not Stella’s friend, she and I don’t talk. We’ve never worked together before, so we are not friends, I don’t have any business with her.
For how much can you play nude?
Ha! I can’t, no matter the money involved, I can never! Maybe if I was white and I’ve been groomed in that sense, but thank God I’m a Nigerian. I can’t dare it. I’m a cultured woman and I know my culture won’t permit me, so I can’t.
What’s your take about these regular marriage breakups in the entertainment industry?
I really don’t think it’s only in the industry. I think people hear about us more often maybe because we are in the spotlight; it’s everywhere. Even pastors also suffer the same thing, so it’s not just the entertainers alone. There was a day in my church when we were about having our anniversary.
We were talking to the pastor and his wife came and was saying we should leave her husband alone to rest that he was just coming in from travel. So you can imagine whatever it is they must have been going through at home.
It’s because we are in the spotlight that is why people hear of ours. Because of this my marriage issue, I go to court all the time. I see and hear cases; it is everywhere. But as entertainers, we hear things a lot and we have developed thick skin, because there are some words you will hear and you will almost commit suicide.
What is the wildest thing you’ve heard about yourself?
That should be when they were rumouring that my husband left me because I was cheating on him and all that, it’s not really new to me. I just felt it’s one of those things they say, sometimes some will even say it as if they were there, but I’m not moved like I said earlier.
A man identified as Ejike Nwankwo Ohagba from Ezigbo village, Igbo-Ukwu community, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday, April 7, went crazy and threw his mother into an abandoned well in his father’s compound. He then threw blocks into the well to kill her.
According to Anambra State news, the 30-year-old suspect had earlier in September 2015 allegedly killed two of his siblings in the same well, set his family house ablaze and disappeared only to reappear last week to kill his mother.
“The suspect’s mother, late Mrs Christiana Nwankwo Ohagba, a widow, took off from where she was taking refuge since her family house was burnt to do some farming with a 14-year old boy, Chiemerie at the family compound. Meanwhile, the source said, the suspect was hiding somewhere within the compound, with his mother completely unaware of the danger lurking around the premises.”
Chiemerie spotted the suspect and alerted the deceased. Chiemerie escaped but unfortunately, the deceased could not as the suspect attacked her, Sunday Sun reports.
“After wrestling with him to free herself in vain, she was thrown into the well by the suspect who went ahead to gather blocks and started throwing them into the well to ensure that she did not survive.
They said it was Chiemerie who reported the attack on them to other members of the community after running for a distance from the scene of the incident. But before help could come, the widow was already dead in the well and the suspect had varnished again. Police and the local vigilante were invited to help and bring out her body from the well.”
The traditional ruler of Igbo-Ukwu community, Igwe Martin Eze, Idu of Igbo-Ukwu, who confirmed the tragic incident said he was shocked, adding that the case has been reported to the police.
While urging the federal and state governments to set up rehabilitation centres in many communities where people could be rehabilitated when they begin to exhibit unusual behaviour, he also said that jobs should be created to get the youths employed to reduce the level of hardship which he noted was responsible for increase in crime in the society.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Ali Okechukwu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said he was yet to confirm the incident.

For the first time since the news of her release from jail broke,Nollywood actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima is speaking up, and she gives all glory to God for the unprecedented release.
“I thank you for the infinite love,” the embattled actress said in the meme she uploaded on her page today, adding that she knows God loves her
Fiberesima was recently granted bail to the tune of 2 Million Naira. According to reports, the former AGN president was represented by a team of new counsel led by Adeyemi Muiz Banire (SAN).
The bail condition required her to provide two sureties who most have properties in Lagos.
Premium Times adds that Fiberesima was granted bail based on health condition as she reportedly underwent breast cancer surgery this February.
The actress was earlier remanded in Kirikiri as the the appellate court dismissed her appeal and upheld the 5-year jail term previously handed to her for the death of Lagos doctor, Giwa Suraj.

When Ne-Yo got married recently, their children did not attend the wedding, and Monyetta said it was because of school obligations. However, she has now opened up on her TRUE feelings – that it hurts to see them parade their love on social media, and how is the new wife sure he won’t do the same to her?

The Beautiful Beginnings
We first met in 2009 at a Jamie Foxx concert in Louisiana. He asked me out several times before I said yes — and then I fell for him fast. He had such a good heart, and that’s what attracted me to him.
The next year, I found out I was pregnant. It wasn’t a complete surprise, as we weren’t using protection, and we knew instantly that this child was a gift from God.
After starting a family, I fell more in love than ever. In 2010, during a weekend in the Dominican Republic for [rapper] Fabolous’ birthday, Ne-Yo asked me to marry him. We were in a suite, and he told everybody to be quiet. He pulled my hand, dropped down to one knee, and I immediately started crying. He incorporated the lyrics from his song “Make Me Better” and pulled out a 10-carat diamond ring.
In 2011, I found out I was pregnant with Mason.
The Sterilization Happened Right After the Birth of their Second Child
(After the birth)…the doctor performed the sterilization procedure. I had no regrets.
On Oct. 9, 2011, I delivered a healthy baby boy, my second child, Mason, and I finally felt my family was complete. So before the doctors finished up in the delivery room, I told them: “I want you to burn my fallopian tubes.”
My fiancé, Shaffer Chimere Smith (better known as R&B artist Ne-Yo), was right by my side, holding my hand the entire time. The doctor must have asked us eight times if this was what we wanted. Each time, we both replied yes.
Sterilization was something Ne-Yo and I discussed thoroughly in the months leading up to the baby’s delivery. We had a daughter, Madilyn, in 2010, and two children seemed like more than enough for the both of us. Ne-Yo also agreed to undergo a vasectomy to show our mutual commitment to the relationship.
I was so busy caring for two young children, I just assumed Ne-Yo had followed through and had gotten the vasectomy. I trusted him so much that it never even crossed my mind that he hadn’t gone through with it.
The Break-Up
But then, in June 2013 — just two months before our August wedding — Ne-Yo called.
“I don’t want to be monogamous anymore,” he told me — in other words, he wanted to break up. A week later, we had a deep conversation face to face. I was so hurt and distraught; my parents have been together for 44 years, and I always assumed our relationship would last for the rest of our lives. The thought of him and my kids not living under the same roof was devastating.
A week after our split, Ne-Yo posted the news on Instagram. It wasn’t long until VH1 producers called and asked me to join the reality show “Atlanta Exes,” which followed me along with other ex-wives of Hollywood stars, such as Tameka [Foster], Usher’s ex.
Then, in 2014, when Ne-Yo released his music video for “Money Can’t Buy,” I found out that he was dating the video’s vixen, Crystal Renay, known for posting racy photos on Instagram.
On Finding out about the New Woman
My world came crashing down all over again: I had tried to understand that he didn’t want to be monogamous, but then he went and found a different woman whom he was ready to be monogamous with?
It hurts to see them parade their love on social media. They recently married, on Feb. 20, and Crystal gave birth to their first son. She seems like a nice girl, but I would be worried if I were she. How does she know that he’s not going to do the same thing to her that he did to me?
How She Feels about Her Life-Changing Decision Now & the Future
Adding to the pain is knowing that if I find another man to love, I may not be able to start a family with him. I’m too scared to go to a doctor to find out if there’s anything they can do about it. Because I do want to get married someday, and if my future husband does not have kids, I will want to have his children.
Now I look back and wonder what I was thinking. I love hard, and I made so many permanent decisions based on what I thought a man wanted from me, not what I wanted for myself. When my daughter comes of age, I will tell her: “Your body is your temple. Don’t do anything to it you don’t want to regret.”
Today, I’m finally at peace. I took awhile to get here, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be exactly where I want to be, but I make the choice each day to be happy, not just for me, but for my two kids. That’s where the title of my book comes from — this is all bigger than me.

You see my annoyance knew no bounds following this dual display of arrant immaturity. Both combatants figuratively went after each other’s throats and in the process exposed themselves to ridicule, exposing their soft underbelly laced with a high sense of shallowness and bereft of any depth.
That one reported that the other just got a quit notice led to such fratricidal engagement only pushed me close to the edge of my seat as I mourned the loss of sensibility amongst our youths as displayed by these set of so called role models.
As I write, the mudslinging is still ongoing and my concern is really for the lady who has exposed her womanhood to such low levels of assault all because of the need to maintain a high profile career filled with slush. On the other hand, the boy singer only just showed me what I would not want my teenage son to grow up into.
The fact that he has been lucky to churn out some funny cacophony of what he and his cohorts call songs to an unsuspecting population used to such ‘rubbish’ thereby making some money now puts him on a pedestal that he feels he has attained some level of immortality.
Well, this is the disgrace the society has degenerated into. An abusive one where nothing is sacred not even the core of womanhood but what do you expect when our leaders call themselves unprintable names during scuffles displayed in the public space.
Why won’t our little ones copy the Ogas and start describing how their private parts smell and all what not. Rubbish.

On what propels him:
Well, it’s easy: fearlessness. It’s not arrogance; it’s fearlessness. People dog themselves before they give themselves an opportunity to fail. So I think they let other people’s insecurities bring their doubts down. I don’t let that stop anything I’m doing. It’s never worked out for me in the past, so I think that listening to myself and focusing on what I needed to do puts me in that category. So if I wanted to rap or if I wanted to yodel, I think I would have just done it anyway with the confidence of me saying, “I’m gonna do it.” People usually have a lack of confidence due to insecurities. Once again, it’s not arrogance. It’s just being very aware and fearless of doing things or willing to try.
On the concept behind his numerous tattoos:
Usually, it just comes from us partying or being in some exciting environment. Mostly it’s just having fun. For me, I don’t try to focus too much on particulars when getting a tattoo. Granted sometimes it has a deep meaning, like a milestone, and sometimes it’s just a stepping-stone in my life. I’ll look at a tattoo and say, “Oh, I remember where I was at when I got this tattoo.” Those moments are captured within the tattoos. I believe overthinking is probably what most people do, so I just try to let it flow. I use that same philosophy when I am getting my own artwork tattooed on me. I give my tattoo artist a lot of freedom.
Everyone always remembers their first tattoo. My first tattoo was a Jesus with musical notes. Basically signifying that God gave me the gift to sing. I was 13, but my mom didn’t know I got it. When she saw it, she went crazy, like, “What are you doing?” I showed her. I said, “It’s Jesus, mama, look.” So she kind of cooled down, but I still got in trouble.
The latest ink I’ve got is probably my head.
On his reputation as being a rebel:
I would just say that I would rather be an inspiration and not a role model. Make your own decisions. You don’t have to rebel just to rebel. You don’t have to accept just to accept. If you want to get a tattoo, if you think that’s your thing, then that’s cool. I personally think that now, not having a tattoo is kind of like a statement in itself. Our generation is gonna be old, tatted, and we’re gonna look so dope. So, it’s a choice. When my fans can say, “I want to get tatted or I don’t want to get tatted.” I don’t look at them any differently.
On his daughter, Royalty:
When I look at her, I see myself. I see a better version of myself. I just see her future. There’s no need to go backwards. At the end of the day, you learn that life is all about choices. Nigerian Senate president, senator Bukola Saraki has vowed to fight on amid growing calls for his resignation following allegations of financial fraud as contained in the Panama Papers scandal.
The embattled former governor of Kwara State has pointed fingers at political opponents who, according to him, are still bitter over his emergence as Senate president, Premium Times reports.
“There’s a case in the Tribunal and a resultant appeal at the Court of Appeal,” he said in a statement. “The underlining philosophy of our legal system is that an accused person is presumed innocent until found guilty.”
“Those who are contemplating calls for resignation want to circumvent the judicial system. They are obviously being sponsored by some politicians.
“The Senate President is not contemplating any resignation. He will surely have his day in court.”
Saraki, currently on trial at the code of Conduct Tribunal for false asset declaration, has been accused of maintaining several secret offshore assets in tax havens and hiding four assets found to be in his wife’s name in violation of Nigeria’s code of conduct law.
He however claimed the controversial assets belonged to the estate of his wife’s rich and famous family, and that the law did not mandate him to declare such category of assets.
His trial at the CCT has been adjourned to April 18.

The burial ceremony of 39-year old Nigerian entertainer Muyiwa “Nomoreloss” Osinuga took place today at Foursquare Gospel Church, Ikoyi.
Omobaba, Wierd MC, Nikki Laoye and other Nigerian entertainers are at the event, to pay their last respect.
Reports reaching us is that interment will be taking place shortly at Ikoyi cemetery

‘I Progressed From Being a Boy to Being Don Jazzy’- Don Jazzy
On 7th April 2016, Don Jazzy, looked back on how far he has come, and he used that opportunity to encourage his fans to keep at what they are doing.
“Thought I should share with you guys the very beginning of my incredible journey,” he said, adding, “The love I have for what I do has not changed from as early as 9.”
And for the first time, the producer and label boss credited his father as the one who encouraged him to go into music. From the clip he uploaded, young Don Jazzy is seen singing while his dad played the piano. “You have no idea how much I appreciate my dad for the guidance all through the years,” Don jazzy said. “And with joy I have progressed from being this young boy to being #Donjazzy.”

On Thursday, April 7, 2016, Nollywood actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima, was granted bail in the sum of N2million by Justice Samuel Oseji of the Lagos State Court of Appeal.
Justice Samuel Oseji stated that the bail was granted to her because of her health condition.
The appellate court made the decision to release her temporarily in consideration of her breast cancer plight.
The former Actors Guild of Nigeria president was granted the N2million bail, with two sureties in like sum.
This will be second bail she has received in respect to the case.
In 2006, Fiberesima spent 93 days at the Kirikiri Prison in Lagos for running away from the scene of the accident that killed Dr. Suraj Giwa.
The actress is now set to travel out of the country to receive treatment for her breast cancer condition.
