Nollywood actress, Stella Damascus has revealed the major reason for failing relationships especially among celebrities.
The star actress stressed that majority of Nigerians who have troubles in their relationship tend to put more energy in beginning of the relationship but later lose focus at the later stages or during marriages.
“A lot of us are guilty of this, Maintaining a relationship means that you have to be selfless. That is one trait that is very scarce to come by these days. It means less of you and more of the other. Unfortunately, we live in a time when we are taught to live, think and do for ourself more, then we can do for others. I pray for the spirit of SELFLESSNESS not just for me but for everyone in Jesus name. Don’t forget to join me on #periscope today for #sdmotivates God bless you all and #happynewweek #atl #nyc #florida #america #africa #stelladamasus #adiva #sdartsfoundation #Godlover”
The star actress made the statement after noticing that many people experience these issues in their marriages and many marriages, especially celebrity marriages have crumbled due to the lack of energy to maintain their relationship.
Stella Damascus was recently accused by another Nollywood actress Doris Simeon of being the reason her marriage to her ex-husband Daniel Ademinokan crashed because he, almost immediately after breaking up with her, married Stella Damascus and still keeps custody of their son.
The beggars in their hundreds, under the aegis of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, on Monday stormed the Government House, Kaduna, demanding the withdrawal of the anti-begging law until Governor Nasir el-Rufai fulfils his campaign promises.
The law, passed by the state house of assembly, has since been assented to by the governor, and is awaiting implementation.
According to Premium Times, the beggars were however prevented from gaining entry into the premises of the Government House by security operatives, who on spotting them, quickly mobilised themselves.
The operatives stationed an Amoured Personnel Carrier at the entrance a few meters away from the main gate, while armed policemen who arrived in eight Hilux vans took strategic positions around the premises with a view to forestalling outbreak of law and order.
However, the beggars, during the protest, lamented that the governor was yet to keep his campaign promise he made to them in 2015 that if elected he would make adequate arrangement for their upkeep before banning street begging.
Their spokesperson, Muntari Sale, expressed dismay over the nonchalant attitude he said the governor and lawmakers exhibited towards people living with disability and vowed not to relent in their efforts until the governor fulfilled his promise.
“We demand that the governor of the state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai and members of the State House of Assembly to fulfil the promises they made to us during their campaign while seeking for votes from us,” he said.
“The Governor promised us that he will not ban street begging until he makes adequate arrangement for our upkeep and welfare.
“He promised that 30 per cent of our members would be giving employment anytime the state government has a programme running which has not been met, he also promised to provide for the sick, educate our children and employ those in different skills with a view to easing the suffering of the people living with disability.”
Mr. Sale recounted that the same law submitted by the governor to the legislature had been enacted in Kano, Edo, Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory, but that it did not work.
Stating that begging was their only means of livelihood, he stressed that the law would not work in Kaduna because the state government had not made adequate arrangement for the beggars.
He said,
“This law was passed in Kano, Edo and Lagos states as well as the FCT and they did not succeed, the government has not made adequate arrangements for us and yet it wants to ban us from our only source of livelihood.
“We are human beings like everyone, the way everybody is delivering children, that is the same way we are, the way people marry is the way we marry and the way parents try to educate their children is the same way we try to educate ours.
“He promised to employ our children, unfortunately, he has employed people in the Kaduna State Traffic and Environmental Law Enforcement Agency (KASTELEA), but none of our children were employed. He also employed street sweepers and none of our children were employed. They employed women to cook food for state schools the school feeding programme, yet none of our wives or children have benefited.
“The way every individual used their thumb to voted for El-Rufai, that is the way people living with disability also voted for him, including the deaf, dumb, blind and cripples.”
Mr. Sale called for the removal of the present Special Assistant to the Governor on Disability, saying he was responsible for their predicaments.
He accused the governor’s aide of not fighting for the cause of the people living with disability.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Stakeholders, Abdullahi Bayero, who received the beggars, explained that the governor could not meet them in person because he was in a meeting.
He appealed to them to be patient.
Mr. Bayero further asked them to select five representatives that would table their demands to the state governor since all of them could not be allowed into the Government House for security reasons.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will fix cut-off points for all courses for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on June 2.
JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin who disclosed this on Monday in a statement said the policy meeting which is for the exercise will be presided by the Honourable Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu.
He added:
“This year’s meeting is scheduled to hold on June 2. Nationally accepted cut-off marks would be decided and issued Federal Government guidelines and regulations would be articulated and decision taken; even as it would x-ray the performance of subsequent years to put checks and balances.
“The very important meeting has policy makers, the Heads of all tertiary institutions, the Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, Provost, Registrars and relevant stakeholders like the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Youth Service Corps and others in attendance.
“The Honorable Minister places much important on this assembly and has categorically made it clear that he won’t tolerate a situation where decision reached would be flagrantly disobeyed or not adhered to strictly.
“Some of this decision borders on admissions deadlines and quota system which some institutions has failed to comply with and other sharp practices capable of undermining the entire admission process.
“JAMB commends the Honorable Minister for his effort at sanitizing the sector and ensuring that the lost glory of education are returned and restored, while noting that these efforts would no doubt manifest great results in no distance time.
“JAMB wishes to use this medium to urge the public to follow this process keenly and also note that cut-off points in particular are as usual a minimum score pruning mechanisms and institutions are at liberty to go higher depending on their peculiarities.
“JAMB also commends the Honorable Minister for his efforts so far in ensuring that the lost glory of education are returned.
“The Minister’s insistence on due process and support for the transformation in the Board and the entire educational system will no doubt manifest great results in no distance time,” He noted.

A 27-year-old man, Mfom John has stabbed his twin brother, Isreal John to death. The incident happened at Olorunkemi Street in the Somolu area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that Mfom stabbed the victim more than 70 times in different parts of the body on Monday until he died.
It was gathered that the suspect had always threatened to kill Israel whenever they had disagreements. So on the fateful day, he carried out the threat around 6am while the victim slept and a third occupant of the room, Christopher, was in the kitchen.
According to Punch, the Akwa Ibom State indigene reportedly stabbed his brother in the neck, head, armpit and stomach till he died.
He was said to have fled to Ogunbadejo, a neighbouring street, to report to an uncle that his brother had sustained serious injuries during a fight.
It was also gathered that he followed the uncle and his wife to the house around 7am, as a team of policemen from the Pedro division, were removing the corpse.
Christopher, who was being interrogated at that moment, reportedly pointed out the culprit to the police, leading to his arrest.
He said, “The room where they stayed was formerly occupied by their elder brother, and he passed it on to his sister. The sister, after living there for some years, passed it to them.
“The two brothers were working in a restaurant owned by their brother in the Abiodun area. While Mfom cooked the food, Israel washed the plates.
“On Sunday when they returned from work, they had a party to celebrate a new generator they bought. Around 6am on Monday, while Israel was sleeping, Mfom got a knife and stabbed him all over the body. At a particular spot, he stabbed him more than 15 times. There were more than 70 stab wounds on him.”
Speaking on the matter, a relative, who did not identify herself, said after killing his brother, the suspect went to his uncle’s house, where she also stays, to report the incident.
“We asked him what happened, he just said there was a fight in the house and his brother had been injured. As we approached the house, we saw two police vans. The policemen brought out a body that was covered with wrapper.
“That was when Christopher told the police that it was Mfom who killed his brother. The police then arrested him,” she said.
However, some of the residents believe that Christopher knows more that he told the police because the suspect had told him he would ensure his brother did not go to work that morning.
The elder brother of the men, however, said the duo had been a thorn in his flesh. He said, “I planned to set up businesses for them. But since I brought them from the village, it has been from one trouble to another. I have never had rest. I never knew this would happen. I don’t know how I will inform my mother in the village now.”
The corpse of the victim had been deposited at the Mainland General Hospital morgue, while the suspect had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.
She said, “The suspect stabbed the victim to death while sleeping at about 6.30am on Olorunkemi Street, Bariga. The case has been transferred to the SDCI.”
It has been reported that a 24-year old nursing mother identified as Yewande Busari, was electrocuted in Lagos with her 1-year-old son named Pamilerin strapped to her back on May 6. The child however survived.
It was gathered that the tragedy was caused by electrical wires sticking out of a streetlight pole where Yetunde who reportedly did not use the pedestrian bridge was trying to cross the highway at the Oshodi area of Lagos state.
The young baby who has since being discharged from a hospital, is currently with his paternal grandparents.

The baby’s father, Lekan Akorede, told SaharaReporters.
“Since the accident, he has not stopped crying. Pamilerin was very fond of his mother and has refused to breastfeed from other mums who had offered to help.”
According to report, the streetlight pole that caused the tragedy was said to have carried the menace of live wires sticking for a while but was left unattended by the government and the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company in charge of it.
The 1-year-old who survived the attacked
Tunde Busari, an elder brother of the deceased in a phone conversation with a reporter, lamented the nonchalance of the government and the electrical company in charge of the streetlights.
“We have not heard anything from the government or seen anybody from them since my sister died. It was a government property that killed my sister, but nobody has come to pay us a visit,” he said.
According to a report by Calabar Reporters, the so-called wizard was spotted on the morning of May 12, flying through Calabar Highways.
The alleged wizard was spotted at about 7:50am around the popular Culvert bus stop adjacent to Ikot Ansa bus stop, Murtala Mohammed Highway, Calabar, with a crowd around him.
The man, who is between 40-60 years old was lying Unclad by the roadside. He was muttering incoherently with blood spots on his face and lips.
According to the woman whose house the wizard was first ‘arrested’, she was having her bath that morning around 4:00am in preparation for work when she saw a big kite-like object striking the back of her house with a huge crash. She went out to check what it was and she was shocked at what she saw.
The woman said the man’s face was pale and threatening, so she asked him who he is. But instead of answering, the man spat out a huge lump of saliva which almost got to her. When this happened she raised alarm to get the attention of people around.
When neighbors and passersby came, they started interrogating the man, threatening to kill him. Then, few persons among the crowd recognized the man, while others added that his wife died few months ago. And that he’d lost all his children too, but didn’t stay at that environment but a distance of about a mile apart.
After all the beatings, he was pushed to the highways, threatened to be burnt alive if he didn’t confess what brought him there.
At this point he started confessing: “I killed my wife, children and many other people using witchcraft. And I came here looking for whom to devour”, he said.

Genevieve who is known for her great acting skills made it known in an interview with Ventures Africa that she derived more joy from her first ride compared to the kind of car she drives now.
Genevieve said she is not someone who likes to talk about her wealth but that she must have a minimum of N2, 000 with her anytime because that was her first salary.
On her first ride giving her more joy, she said;
“Even the kind of car I drive right now cannot give me that kind of joy that my first ride gave me. I must have a minimum of my first salary in my wallet — two thousand Naira. I can have more, but that’s the minimum. It was my first salary. It’s dear to my heart. That was my welcome fee into the world of entrepreneurship.
It’s just there. I love it. I spent more than that to get the two thousand though on transport fair, cause by the time they tell you to go and come back so many times, you’ve spent way more than that, but that was who I was. I worked for it. I have to get paid for it. I’d probably squander every money that is dashed to me, but the one I would sweat for, I don’t play with.
On surviving difficult times after her father lost his job twice, moving them from upscale Surulere to Egbeda, the single mother of one said:
“My mother traded, she sold stuff, she got her children to sell stuff for her and we had to. We had no choice. We were living in her house. We cried. She did things you needed to do at that time. Your friends are not doing it. Why should you be the one to be doing it? You’re embarrassed about it, but I’m grateful for that because I think if I wasn’t even given that chance to be humble, I probably wouldn’t appreciate what I have today and understand that it doesn’t make me better than the next person. And I just know that everyone is equal and everyone is entitled to love and respect.”

A woman beset by a most ridiculous request from her lover and the threat it poses to their relationship is asking for a way out.
The woman shared her story showing how her man is giving her a reason to doubt the solidity of the relationship.
Below is what she shared:
I met a man on-line and as we have com-municated for such a while, I started liking him.
He is based in the United States. As the online relationship progressed, he started talking about marriage.
These days, he even refers to me as his wife each time we talk. I told him one day that I was not sure about him because we have not met and explained that I understood that distance is not a barrier but I needed more convincing.
I suggested that I could at least meet someone from his family. He made arrangements and I eventually met his dad. His dad likes me a lot and always says good things about me to his son. We have been on for several years now.
Recently, he asked me to send my n*de photos to him and that gave me the wrong signal. We have talked about it but he keeps insisting, saying that it is the only way we can connect and feel closer to each other.
I have not responded to him yet. Please how do I handle this strange request?

Saturdays and indeed weekends in Lagos are usually tagged as “Owambe” because of the vast majority of people who enjoy attending various functions during the weekend.
“Owambe” is a Yoruba word used in reference to celebratory ceremonies ranging from weddings, naming ceremonies, burials, anniversaries and so many other fun ceremonies.
There is also the whole ‘aso-ebi’ craze which has become a very important aspect of these parties.
Nowadays, even with the current state of the economy and people claiming there is no money, folks in Lagos never fail to attend these functions, dressed to the nines in expensive aso-ebi fabrics.
From the flamboyant spraying of cash by both the rich and not so rich to the aso-ebi style show-off and sumptuous party food, Lagosians will do anything to be at every owambe function they can attend.
Also, you are bound to find various kinds of people ranging from the invited guests to the mogbo moya bunch of uninvited groovers who all turn up at these parties for various reasons.
So, why do Lagos folks attend Owambe parties? Here are four pertinent reasons.
Free Food
A very important reason why most Lagosians attend owambe’s is because of that signature party Jollof rice. This is mostly because the taste of party Jollof rice is quite distinct and usually more delicious than the regular home-cooked ones.
Apart from the popular party Jollof rice, a variety of other foods are served at these parties which frankly you would hardly cook at home.
I mean, why prepare Chinese rice or small chops at home when you could just wait till the weekend to enjoy these delicacies at an Owambe right? Some people don’t have shame and even go as far as getting take-away in black polythene plastic bags.

A woman from Chivi has been charged to court after she was caught hiding a one-day old baby she stole in her bag. She appeared in court last week.
The incident happened at the Berejena Hospital, Zimbabwe.
It was gathered that Rester Mapombwa (31) stole the baby and placed it in a bag when she sneaked into the maternity ward at the hospital. The baby belonged to Tatenda Nhinga (18) of Masvingise Village under Headman Makamure in Chief Nemauzhe’s area.
Giving reason in court why she stole the baby, Mapombwa said she had lied to her husband that she was pregnant and as a first wife, she wanted to please her husband so that he would give her some money for the upkeep of the child, Masvingo Mirror reports.
As the first wife, she was not getting any attention from the husband. she had lied she was pregnant to make her husband give her little attention. But, the husband preferred to spend more time with the second wife. This infuriated Mapombwa.
So, she went to the maternity to steal the baby as the husband was now expecting her baby to be born. In a bid to cover up her lies, on April 26, 2016 at 1pm, Mapombwa went to the maternity ward masquerading as a relative to one of the mothers in the ward.
She then gained entry and in a bid to divert the attention of the mothers from their babies she lied to the women in the ward that their clothes had fallen from the washing line. When all the women had left the ward, she took a baby belonging to Nhinga and went away unnoticed.
However, her luck ran out after the baby’s mother raised alarm alerting hospital officials who found the baby in Mapombwa’s bag and was arrested. Nixon Chamisa prosecuted.
Mapombwa was sentenced to three-years imprisonment.
A man who has been dating his girlfriend of two years has revealed how she accepted a car gift from a ‘male friend’ and refused to return on his orders.
Is it true that every woman has a price tag? Well, read this post from Joro Olumofin about a man’s predicament before you take a stand.
The family of the victim has released Whatsapp snapshots which showed the late Ronke’s husband, Lekan, admitting to brutalising her, asking for God’s forgiveness and promising to stop beating her.
This is just as the man accused of dating Ronke, Kayode, has denied the allegation, saying he only had a professional relationship with the deceased.
51-year-old Lekan had allegedly killed his wife at their home in the Egbeda-Idimu area of Lagos State last Thursday. Lekan, a dockworker, had however denied complicity in the death, saying he never touched her.
He accused her of sleeping with Kayode, the general manager of a publishing company where she worked as the human resources manager.
After three days in hiding, the suspect gave himself up to the police and was taken to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba.
According to Punch Metro Kayode had denied the allegation.
A close family friend, who claimed to have spoken with him, explained that he said he had always been harassed by Lekan with messages and unfounded allegations.
He said, “We spoke yesterday (Tuesday) and he completely denied anything like that. He said he had proof of the man making all kinds of allegations against him and asking him to leave his wife alone, which he had never responded to. He said he was biding his time and would make all the revelations in due time.”
It was gathered that Kayode and Ronke’s brother, Jide, who died in a ghastly motor accident in July 2015, were friends.
After the death of Jide, Kayode, who was working in Ibadan, Oyo State, was said to have been transferred to Lagos by his company.
In Lagos, he was said to have struck a friendship with Ronke because of her late brother. Due to Ronke’s influence in the publishing company owned by her uncle, Kayode was said to have joined the publishing firm and was made the general manager.
Their friendship and the managerial positions were said to have made it possible for them to always travel and go out together.
Kayode was also said to have become close to Ronke’s uncle, who owned the firm.
It was learnt that both Kayode and Ronke had travelled to recruit new workers for the Abuja office, when the allegation of sleeping together was levelled against them.
Meanwhile, the family of Ronke has released Whatsapp snapshots, showing a conversation between Lekan and one of Ronke’s friends, Ashabi.
In a chat, he asked Ashabi to beg Ronke on his behalf, promising not to assault her again. He also claimed that the child brought to his home was a setup, denying the paternity of the baby.
Ashabi, in one of the chats, said Ronke was already slipping into depression, urging Lekan to become a better husband and father.
She said Ronke wept while talking with her because of the constant battery and public embarrassment.
Below are excerpts of some of the chats:
Lekan: Am sick and tired. Am going crazy. Please help me out. I rest my case. Am crying as I am writing this to you. But help me to talk to her. Aburo mi (my younger sister), I don’t want to lose her. I want her in my house forever.
Lekan: Because of God, please help me. Ha, I have really offended her. May God forgive me. Please you are my saviour, help me talk to her.
Lekan: I can have plenty of s*x outside, but I don’t want to fornicate again. Yes, just want my wife back. I swear to God, I will never touch her again.
Ronke’s friend: She is really broken and hurt, uncle. She said a lot. But I begged her and you have to keep showing her you are a better person, and you want your family back. It is not a day’s job uncle and you have to be patient with her and get her to trust and love you again. She is falling into depression which is more terrible.
One of Lekan’s friends, Sunday Nwaobi, said he had known him for about 33 years, adding that he had credibility and couldn’t have killed his wife.
He said, “He was my junior in secondary school and was a classmate to my immediate younger brother. My brother retired as a general manger of a brewery in America and they are best of friends. My brother is an American citizen, well travelled, and has met a lot of world leaders. I know he will never go out with somebody who does not have credibility.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the police were working on getting the result of the autopsy, adding that it would determine the command’s next line of action.
She said, “We are not in charge of the result and we can’t determine when it will be out. But I can assure you that we are on it and as soon as it is released, we won’t hide anything.”
