The World Health Organisation, WHO has newly revealed that one out of every six Africans suffer from mental disorder.
The statistics was announced on Saturday by the World Health Organisation Regional Director for Africa, Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, during a message she delivered on this year’s World Mental Health Day.
In a statement issued by WHO, Moeti is quoted:
“On 10 October 2015, we join the rest of the world in commemorating World Mental Health Day under the theme, ‘Dignity in mental health’.
“The theme draws attention to the crucial need to ensure that dignity is preserved in all aspects of mental health, ranging from care for patients to the attitudes of the general public.
“In the African Region, it is estimated that one out of every six people suffers from some form of mental disorder. Unfortunately, in the course of treatment, some patients are subjected to undignified treatment, such as being chained to trees or beds, locked in a cage, left without food for many hours, deprived from family support and inadequate personal hygiene.”
According to Moeti, mental health patients deserve respect and compassion as they cope with their disease, as it is expected of those who suffer from any other disease.
Oh well, it looks like rapper, 50 Cent has lost his star power as he has been forced to drop the price of his huge Connecticut mansion yet again in his latest attempt to sell the property.
The 50,000-square-foot home in Farmington, with 21 bedrooms and 25 bathrooms, has been listed for sale priced $8.5million. He had originally listed the property for sale in 2007 for $18.5million – but the price has been dropped several times in subsequent attempts to sell it.
Lawyers representing Jackson said he would try again to sell the property to raise funds after filing for bankruptcy over the summer.
However, Rob Giuffria, a realtor in Farmington and an expert in the area’s high-end real estate, said the property still won’t sell.
He told the Hartford Courant:
‘$8.5million? Not a chance. 50 would have a better chance being a country music singer.’
He does not believe the property, set on 17 acres, will sell for more than $5million. The mansion, which has been listed Douglas Elliman Real Estate, is one of the biggest private residences in America. Jackson bought the house in 2003 from boxer Mike Tyson for $4.1million.
He then spent more than $6million renovating the house and its grounds, and installed a helicopter pad, infinity pool and private cinema.
The home also has a private casino, gym, racquetball courts and disco room with stripper poles. There are 52 rooms in total, including nine kitchens.
But after failing to sell it in 2007, the price was reduced four times – to $10million by the end of 2010.It reportedly costs $72,000 a month to maintain.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has hinted that Super Eagles team will be restricted on their use of social media while on international duty following the brawl between Sunday Oliseh and Vincent Enyeama last Tuesday.
President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick made this known after a meeting in Belgium on Saturday. He said a code of conduct document would be released soon and it involves restrictions on social media.
Pinnick is quoted saying:
“A small group had been working on the document and I am happy to say that it is now ready for implementation. This will spell out how players and officials must conduct themselves while in any of the national camps, and minimize the probability of misunderstanding between coaches and players.
“The recent happening in the camp of the Super Eagles in Belgium was unwarranted but I am happy we have been able to put that behind us. Both Coach Sunday Oliseh and player Vincent Enyeama even spoke cordially on Saturday during Enyeama’s meeting with the NFF leadership,
“No player launches his career through the social media. When players are at their clubs, they don’t broadcast camp situation on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, The same restraint and discipline must be observed in the national camp.”
Senate president Bukola Saraki has newly disclosed that he has not been in communication with APC leader, Bola Tinubu since he emerged as the country’s senate President.
The senate President disclosed this in response to Tinubu’s statement by his media aide which read:
“would not join with Senator Saraki in hindering this government which may just be the nation’s last best chance to salvage itself”. “On these matters, I know where Asiwaju Tinubu stands. He remains glued to the party decision that the manner by which Saraki captured his current seat travestied party discipline. It was a crass act of disloyalty showing that Saraki may have joined the APC on paper but has remained true to the malpractices and wrong aims of the reactionary PDP in his soul.”
The Sun reports that Tinubu and Saraki were allegedly working together to frustrate Buhari’s ministerial list. They also claimed Tinubu had been placed under security watch; claims which were dismissed by the presidency.
Obviously not happy with Tinubu’s statement, Senator Bukola Saraki replied:
I saw the statement said to be issued by Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu over a story published by The Sun newspapers. I have decided not to join issues with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. However, I know that most Nigerians are aware that there has been no meeting or communication between me and Asiwaju Tinubu since I was elected Senate President. Therefore, I do not see any basis for a newspaper to report that we are both plotting to oppose the President.
I recognize Tinubu as one of the leaders of the APC who contributed so much to the victory of the party in the last election. Some other people also contributed and I believe the collective efforts made it possible for the first time in the history of our party for an opposition party to win the general elections, Let me state clearly that I remain a committed member of the APC and will do all in my power to ensure the party fulfill its promises to bring positive changes into the country.
Since my election as Senate President, my focus and efforts have been devoted to doing the job that I was elected to do by my constituents and my colleagues in the Senate. Twice, my colleagues have confirmed their support for me as the primus inter pares in the Senate. As I said in my speech when we resumed from our recess late September and in Ikenne yesterday, the screening of ministerial nominees will be handled by me and my colleagues with all sense of responsibility and in adherence to the provision of the constitution. We will be fair to all and be guided by the interest of Nigeria.
The screening will be devoid of sentiment and it is not an opportunity for anybody to settle scores. We are equally eager for us to make a positive difference in our polity and Nigerians will be able to judge us whether we acted in their best interest or not.
Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki
President of the Senate
Federal Republic of Nigeria

Young couple, Kylie Jenner and Tyga have reportedly figured out a way to workout their disagreements and that involves just laughing.
PAUSE
That made you chuckle, didn’t it? Well, I chuckled. The couple opened up about their disputes, admitting though they have “disagreements, they “don’t really fight” and if they do ever have a difference of opinion then they manage to get over it quite quickly by laughing.
“We disagree sometimes, but we don’t really fight.”
Kylie added:
“If we get mad at each other, we just start laughing.”
Absurd, isn’t it?
Tyga continued:
“As long as you know yourself and you got good people around you and you passionate about what you do, that’s all that matters because at the end of the day, you go to sleep with the people you love, you wake up with the people you love, and you spend your time with the people you love.
The attention of the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has been drawn to the above caption published in the Saturday Vanguard of 10 October 2015 in which it claimed one of the Chibok girls who escaped from terrorists’ captivity was handed to the military post in Baga. The spurious report by the Vanguard is not only misleading but is once again another unconscionable outing as there is no iota of truth in its entirety, hence should be disregarded.
In as much as the Nigerian military and other security agencies are working round the clock to secure the release of not only the Chibok girls but other innocent citizens who are held hostage by the terrorist, it will not give in to misleading reports which has no true source as we have repeatedly pledged to inform the Nigerian publics on the true situation on our ongoing operations. The sensitive nature of this report notwithstanding, the moral justification for this false publication cannot be substantiated.
Like other well meaning Nigerians, friends of Nigeria and the international community who showed concern for the plight of the abducted girls, the Nigerian military also being a component of the society, is equally worried and is doing everything possible to address the current security challenges. The search for abducted Chibok school girls and the rescue of other Nigerian in hostage has never relapse as could be attested to in recent times where hundreds of women and children were rescued by the military through its coordinated operations. The military has and will continue to sustain the operation until the entire North East is cleared of all terrorists and miscreants.
The DHQ is not unmindful of the media’s good intention in this regards however, we wish to advise reporters and any other stakeholders to be good partners in ensuring their safe rescue and successful termination of terrorists campaign. We also urge journalist to be cautious of reporting such issues and by extension, security and defence related matters.
We wish to once again remind journalists to seek clarifications on any issue relating to military operations and other national sensitive matters before going to press.
Kourtney Kardashian‘s daughter, 3-year-old Penelope Disick as seen in these photos, slammed into an open car door as she approached the car with her mother.
Five of the suspected abductors of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, have been arrested.
The balance of N800,000 from the alleged N5 million ransom paid by the family has also been recovered by a special police crack team which handled the investigation, Daily Sun reports.
Top security sources who declined to be named, based on the sensitivity of the case debunked speculations that the kidnap was an ethnic affair, even as the source revealed that some Fulani herdsmen were actually among those who took part in Falae’s kidnap.
The source, who described the abductors as hardened criminals, said that the motorcycle used by the kidnappers is now in the custody of the Police.
He confirmed that N5million was paid as ransom to the kidnappers before Falae was released and that negotiations on how the ransom was paid, was actually carried out in Abuja, by the prime suspect, even as the source said that the money was withdrawn from one of the new generation banks in Akure (name withheld).
The day the money was withdrawn, September, 26, which was the same day Falae regained his freedom from his abductors, was clearly stamped on money wraps paid as ransom, it was gathered.
However, the source said apart from Fulani herdsmen who participated in the deal, investigators are suspicious of inside collaborators who they are now going after as the police believe the herdsmen would not have successfully carried out their plans without assistance from an insider.
Though details of the arrest are still sketchy, it’s gathered from a reliable source in Ondo that the suspects who are all Fulani, were picked up from Ondo, Ekiti and Niger states where they were said to have dispersed to spend the ransom.

So, Yesterday, October 11th was International Day of the Girl Child and to mark the day in her own way, Nigerian Singer – Waje shared an inspiring message on Instagram.
The single mother of one wrote about how difficult things were for her when she was pregnant and how she pulled through because she had a support system.
In an emotional note on her Instagram page, Waje also shared the tale of how her journey as a single parent has been so far.
She went on to advocate the re-education of modern day women.
Read her post below:
Today, the 11th of October, is the International Day of the Girl Child and I really want to celebrate my childhood and thank God for how blessed I am to have the mother that trained me. I want to celebrate my daughter… The best thing that has ever happened to me and the most important person in my life!
When I was still pregnant with my daughter, I had very tough decisions to make; would I have to quit the university to raise my child? Would I be able to live my lifelong dream of being a musician? Would I be able to raise my daughter single handedly? How would I make ends meet?
I was one of the lucky ones, the ones with a support system of mothers , of parents pushing their daughters to pursue an education, to continue to dream, to work towards their dream and to continually inspire, motivate and push other young women to excel.
I look around me and I worry about the future of women and girls. I worry about the world I am building for my daughter and her friends. I worry about how our legislation affects girls. I worry about our girls being married off to men their fathers’ age when they should be in school. I see inequality everywhere and I wonder how these young girls who we are celebrating today will cope if we sit and do nothing about their future. Does every single woman have to fight her way through and with everything to remain honourable and respected in her field? I wonder about all these things… But nothing bothers me more than the inaction by women in power and authority.
Too often women fail to empower each other. We forget that our daughters too will follow our actions and not just our words and as the world shrinks into a global village, it will also be our fault that our girls are not sitting on the table and contributing to decisions that ultimately affect them.
There is so much work to do to re-educate the modern day woman to remind her that we are not each other’s adversaries but that there is strength in sisterhood. To teach the generations that come after about those that paved the way for us. Now it is time to open doors for our daughters and sisters and to embrace our weaknesses together and turn them into strengths.
We can blame legislation. We can blame men. We can blame War but if we do not take responsibility for our future, we only have ourselves to blame! I am speaking directly to everyone, especially women in positions of influence and power. What are we doing to educate, enlighten and empower young women and girls to compete equally in the society?
It is time to take responsibility and save the world… It is time raise more women! In our case, It is time to educate and empower the African Woman!
Delectable Nollywood Actress, Ebube Nwagbo sat down with Saturday Sun and she spoke about her greatest body asset.
Her words:
“My greatest asset should be my body. My hip is my greatest body asset. My style is very classic, simple and daring. It has also evolved over the years.
I wouldn’t be caught wearing loud colours or a matchy outfit because it is not my style. My favourite fashion accessory is my sunglass and I can’t do without it.
I love it because it compliments and completes even the simplest look. I hardly wear make-up, so, my sunglasses serve as a protection of some sort for my face.
It also shields my face away from prying eyes. Those are some of the reasons why I consider it to be my favourite accessory.”

Still on the AGN (Actors’ Guild Of Nigeria) leadership tussle – Ibinabo Fiberesima Vs. Emeka Ike!
It’s been weeks now since Segun Arinze blasted Emeka Ike saying,
“He should grow up. As far as I am concerned, Ibinabo Fiberesima is the bonafide president. Even in the recent judgement that came out recently telling us to return to the status quo, what does it mean? We were told to go back to the way we were. There was no time Emeka Ike was pronounced the president of AGN. Let him bring out the copy of the judgement and show us if he is man enough. He should wake up and stop embarrassing the guild.”
In response, Emeka Ike told Punch:
“I heard Segun Arinze was interviewed and he said so many things about me and nobody asked me for my own side. I don’t think it was a balanced report. Segun Arinze did not say anything meaningful, he was just cursing himself. That is not how to handle legal matters. In legal matters, we take things from the law’s point of view. Segun that is talking to the journalist is supposed to be behind bars because he committed a crime that should have sent him to jail. There was an order that he violated by bringing in Ibinabo as the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. I have been saying this since. That is why Ibinabo’s tenure was called ‘contentious.’
“Why should we the educated people allow market people to talk? I am a very cerebral person and I don’t deal with men who cannot read and do not understand the legalities of the paper they have in their hand. I cannot be trading words with a common street boy because if you did not go to school, you cannot understand some legal issues. So, he cannot assess the judgement of the court of law.”
President Barack Obama Has some words of advice to Kanye West after he declared his intention for the 2020 Presidential race.
Obama who was in San Francisco on Saturday for a DNC Fundraiser where Kanye is billed to perform joked about Yeezy’s White House Plans — saying if elected — Kanye will be The Peezy.
Later, you are going to hear from a guy who I hear has been talking about launching a political career .You may have heard about this,Kanye is thinking about running for speaker of the house But incase Kanye is serious about this..or as he calls it “Peezy(a likely nickname for president, culled from Yeezy), I do have some advice for him.First of all you have to spend sometime dealing with ,some strange characters that behave like they are on a reality show.So you got to be cool with that…
Second important tip,
saying that you have a beautiful dark twisted fantasy(In reference to Kanye’s critically acclaimed album). That’s what’s known as off message in politics. You can’t say something like that.
And number three, do you think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the south side of Chicago to be president of the United states…That is crazy..That’s cray(slang for crazy)
