In line with the incessant spade of kidnappings happening in the country, especially in the Eastern side, the Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, on Monday signed into law a bill that prescribes death penalty for convicted kidnappers in the state.
The anti-kidnapping bill was one of 10 bills the governor signed into law at the state Executive Chambers which was witnessed by the Speaker and members of the state House of Assembly.
The law also empowers the state to seize assets as well as freeze accounts belong to convicted kidnappers and those who aid and abet kidnapping in the state.

Residents of Azare, Bauchi State are still in shock owing to the news of a woman who reportedly gave birth to a slipper – yes, you read that right, a slipper.
According to reports by NTA News, 25 year old Amina Usman who had no history of pregnancy was rushed to the Azare General Hospital because she was complaining of movements within her womb.
Some drugs were then prescribed by the Principal Nursing Officer, Ahmad Yaro for her to reduce the pain.
According to Yaro, few minutes after Amina was discharged, his attention was called that Amina had been delivered of a slipper.
Apparently, It is not unusual to see artistes giving their fans chains, watches and other accessories while on stage. Some of the artistes even get mobbed and dispossessed of their possession while performing.

NAN Reports that 30 women in Lagos were yesterday, Monday September 7th sentenced to 6 weeks imprisonment for prostitution by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for prostitution.
Those sentenced are Funmi Olayemi, Damilola Ibrahim, Blessing Emmanuel, Grace Nwaokoro, Anu Titus, Princess Osu, Cynthian Ozumba, Chindima Eke, Blessing Winwah, Rebecca James, Gift James, Bukola Taiwo, Patience Amos, Oyinda Adesewa, Funmilayo Ajayi, Modinat Bello.
Damilola Abiodun, Saki Godwin, Glory Edet, Blessing Okafor, Tope Obatula, Shade Afolabi, Foluke Kolawole, Tosin Ajayi, Bisi Onanuga, Princess Isaac, Esther Akpan, Cythia Osas, Joy Osas and Patricia whose surname was not named, among others.
The accused, whose ages and addresses were not given, pleaded guilty on Monday during their arraignment and were thereby sentenced by Mrs. Odusanya, the Magistrate to six weeks each with an option of 10,000 fine each.
The prosecutor, Inspector Femi Alabi told the court that the accused committed the offense on September 5 at Obalande area of Lagos.
According to him, the accused paraded themselves as public nuisance. “The accused were caught soliciting for clients which is against the law of the state.” he said. The offense contravened Sections 142 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

It’s 2a.m and I’m still fully awake with my heavy heart and my clouded mind, after last night encounter I found it very hard to sleep. I have so many things to figure out, so many questions to be answered.
will I call her or nah? What will I say when I call her? Am I getting myself a Cougar? Could she be one of those wealthy old Lagos Women Ritualists?
You know if you’ve seen enough Nollywood flicks, you’ll think about all these, because you hardly see a relationship between an Old Woman and a Young Man that doesn’t involve exchange of Destiny or eventual killing of one another. In short, Nollywood taught me nothing good can come out of having a Cougar.
Should I be scared or nah? Am I safe or nah? Do I want to see her again? Everything around me paused for a while even my heartbeat when this question popped in my mind. Do I really wish to see her again??? Hell fucking yeah! I need to confirm if everything I saw last night was true. She’s too beautiful to be Human; thoughts of how sleek and fabulous she was crossed my mind again…I was on these thoughts till I crept into the dreamland.
Here comes the morning, I was still in bed, half awake-half sleeping. You know those type of morning when you are just in bed, not fully awake but still conscious of your environment… visualizing all your thoughts, something like an illusion? It’s like you’re dreaming but it’s just the display of what you’re thinking.
I had the loveliest hallucination. I created the exact type of relationship I want with her and I was living in it, it definitely felt super good. I was still rolling deep with the ocean of my lovely hallucination till I suddenly remembered my 8am class… I had to jump out of bed and prepare for class.
Now I’m in class with my guys, we just finished the first lecture; we are trying to chill for the Second lecture. We were talking about random things when one of them asked me “Guy, where were you last night?” What will I say? Should I give them the gist, should I tell them about last night’s escapade… let me just keep quiet for now cause I’m not even sure I’ll see her again, I’ll give them the gist later, maybe when she plans to meet me again. In case I don’t make it back, they will know how to find me.
“I was in my room all night men, I wasn’t feeling too fine but I’m fine now” I thought they believed me till he said he came to check me in my room and I was not in. Sarcastically I said “Did you check under my bed?” I had to say something silly so they can get off my case.
My day didn’t go exactly as I planned, but it was not a bad day after all. I’m done with classes; I’m back to my condo (hostel) so I decided to take a shower. I was in the bathroom when the thought of calling her started bothering my mind. I was still thinking about what to say when the idea of calling her right there in the bathroom popped. I embraced it!
I know it’s not just me that does everything better in the bathroom, I’m like 10 times smarter when I’m in the bathroom, I think better, I sing better, I have better ideas, even when it comes to making love, I make better love in the bathroom.
Since my phone was right in the bathroom with me, I picked up my phone and called her. I could tell my heart wanted to jump out and run when the call went through; I pulled myself together since I’m in my Comfort Zone (my bathroom) ‘no panicking in here Nigga’.
The phone kept ringing, nobody picked. ‘Maybe she’s busy’ I thought to myself. The call almost dropped when someone picked up “Hello” hold on! She has picked…show time!!
“Hello, who’s on the line please” she repeated. I cleared my throat, I told her it’s the young man from last night. She said “Hey Young Man, I thought you wouldn’t call, I waited for your call all night” oh really? Was she expecting me to call immediately? Why does she even like calling me Young Man. ‘I’m sorry about that; I just thought calling this evening would be better’ I don’t even know if that was the right thing to say. “Oh that’s good. I’m in a middle of something right now…this is your number yeah? I’ll text you pretty soon might not be able to call, is that fine?” She asked. Of course it is fine!! Super fine sef, I felt good maybe it’s the voice or because she has been expecting my call. I could tell she was very busy so I shouldn’t long thing again, I blustered ‘Alright, that’s good. Bye’ “Later Dear” and she dropped the call
Unconsciously, I started singing *I’m in love with the coco, I got it for the low low, I’m in love with the coco* and in my mind I was subbing the coco for Cougar. I continued bathing; I was having a nice shower. I was in the middle of this when my phone rang, could she be the one calling back? Quickly I washed my face and picked up my phone.
Look who is calling me, Vanessa X, my Ex, that’s why I added the X to her name. What does she want again this time? I picked up and heard something strange “Hey Boo, you didn’t want to pick your call shey? Are you avoiding me?” LOL, I ignored her question and acted like I didn’t hear anything, I’m not even ready for her troubles right now, so I asked her straight up ‘Vanessa wassup, what do you want?’ “ahn ahn, are we fighting ni, please can you come to my place tonight? All my roomies are going out and I don’t want to be alone in the room”
After hearing this I smiled and so did my John Thomas, there might be chance for some knacks, I thought to myself. To be sure if she wanted that I asked her ‘so what are we going to be doing alone in the room?’ She laughed, “You this Boy, come jhur, please”. Alright I’m definitely going to her place tonight, I need some action and apart from that I’ve missed Vanessa for one thing and that’s the wonderful head she gives.
“alright call me when you want me to come” she decided to make me feel not so special and say “like you have any other option, see you later Boo, I Love You” I usually don’t reply her whenever she says that, cause I know she doesn’t love me, she’s just confused. So I just said ‘Oshey Lover Girl’ and I dropped the call.
Back to shower, thinking about all I’d do to Vanessa later in the day. ‘My sweet Vanessa baby, wa fe ku laleyi’
Done with the bathroom, I decided to take a nap before tonight’s adventure. I was still lying in bed when my phone beeped and it was a text from my potential Cougar, Mrs. Victoria Williams. The text reads
“Sorry I was busy when you called, I’d be coming to see my Son this evening. Should I call you when I’m around? Will you be available?”

Nollywood Actor, Emeka Ike has said Pastor Chris Okotie wants to destroy his marriage. The actor who’s trying to settle his marriage problems in court said Okotie keeps frustrating his effort.
According to the Emeka:
“I want people to look into this issue critically. I’ve never beaten this woman in my life. When she ran out of home, I called my pastor and they took us for counselling. For one week, I was begging her every day; I would go home alone and she would go home alone as well.
“At a point, pastor asked us to write five things we like and dislike about each other. The pastor said that maybe we could work it out. I wrote mine, she wrote hers and she never said there that I used to beat her. I still have that document with me. She gave me what she wrote and I gave her what I wrote. If I used to beat her, she could not have left it out from that then. Any man that beats a woman is a coward. I know that someone somewhere must have done something to her. How can I beat a woman I adore so much? I love my family and this is very unfortunate. Her children have been begging her to come home, and she has refused.
“I am pretty sure my wife is acting confused; she is acting as if she is under a spell, which is psychological and then she is acting under blackmail.

A new supposed ‘health’ trend in Hong Kong sees women staring straight at the sun in the belief that it will replace their need for food and even improve their vision and sleep quality.
Oriental Daily reports that the women, between ages 20 and 30 years old, head to the Sam Ka Village beach in Lei Yue Mun every evening and take off their shoes and sunglasses before setting their phone timers and stand to stare at the sunset – some using an umbrella or a tissue to protect their skin.
We practice sun-gazing as a substitute for eating. Some of us who have finished the therapy now eat less, and others don’t have to eat at all,’
one woman told the publication.
She said they start by looking at the sun for up to 10 seconds on the first day, adding 10 seconds every day until they reach 44 minutes by the ninth month of practice.
Dermatology specialist, Hou Xiang Jun, is concerned about the rising trend, saying the subtropical region, high ultraviolet degree and water reflection is leading to far too much ultraviolet light absorption.
‘Even if painted with sunscreen they can only withstand five to six per cent of the damage, an umbrella or cap can only take 10 – 20 per cent and long exposure, in addition to sunburn, will increase the risk of serious skin cancer,’ Mr Xiang Jun told Oriental Daily.
Former president Goodluck Jonathan has revealed that he worked with a great team. This was contained in separate congratulatory letters to the new President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina; and the Vice-President of the World Bank, Ms Arunma Oteh.
Akinwunmi served as agriculture minister under the Jonathan administration while Oteh served as the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Jonathan said Adesina’s appointment “attests to the fact that my administration had a good team that managed the affairs of the country.”
In his letter to his former aides, Jonathan however celebrated his time in government.
To the new President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, he wrote:
“Given your exemplary record of performance, while serving as the Honourable Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development in my cabinet, I have no doubt that you will deploy your energy and the bank’s resources to ensure that Africa experiences a new era of accelerated development.
“You were not only a critical voice in my economic team, you also walked the talk and earned the praise of our countrymen and women by ensuring that Nigeria’s quest for self-sufficiency in food production became achievable dream.”
The former President, in his letter to Oteh, praised the former SEC boss’ knowledge of capital markets.
He wrote:
“I am delighted that you are going to your new job, fresh from the experience of having led the recovery and growth initiatives of the Nigerian Bourse in the wake of the decline, occasioned by recent global economic recession and financial crisis.
“This is a clear testimony to your capacity, high integrity, and tenacity of purpose. It is also a vindication of the decision of my administration to stand by you, believing in your abilities and competence, even when questions were being raised in some quarters over your choice.
But the Peoples Democratic Party has supported Jonathan’s assessment of his administration, saying, “The former President has hit the nail on the head.”
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Oliah Metuh, said that Jonathan’s assessment of his team and administration was based on evidence.
According to him, the international appointments given to members of the Jonathan team are pointers to the fact that those in the team are not only competent, but also capable.
He said that the achievements of the Jonathan administration were practical and could not be politicized and that they were evident in all sectors, including agriculture, economy and communications.
Head of states, President Muhammed Buhari has paid a visit to the Republic of Ghana. The President was welcomed by the Ghanaian president, John Dramani Mahama.
A British man has claimed that his newborn child was swapped by a staff at an exclusive private hospital in El Salvador in order to be sold to human traffickers.
Richard Cushworth and his wife Mercedes Casanellas welcomed a son at a hospital in San Salvador in May this year, but say they immediately suspected that something was wrong.
The couple, who live in Dallas, Texas, have since had a DNA test and found that the child handed to them by hospital staff is not related to either of them.
Mr Cushworth and his wife had travelled to the capital San Salvador in order for Ms Casanellas to give birth in her home country. Ms Casanellas says she noticed that the child that the staff claimed was hers had a darker skin colour than she remembered at birth, but she was told that she was mistaken.
The couple now fear their light-skinned baby was snatched deliberately by a staff at the Ginecologico private hospital to sell to child traffickers.
In an emotional interview with a local TV station, a teary Ms Casanellas said:
‘We haven’t been able to sleep thinking about where he is, and who has him.
Mr Cushworth, who met Ms Casanellas when he worked as a missionary in El Salvador, added: ‘
‘We just want them to give us our son back. It’s a horrible situation. I have a child and I don’t know where he is. ‘Someone took my child and I have no idea where he is, who is taking care of him, what has happened to him. Is he in the country? It’s awful. ‘I sometimes try not to think about this because it is so frightening.’
Ms Casanella’s obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr Alejandra Guidos, who the couple accuse of masterminding the plot, was arrested on Thursday, according to their family’s lawyer Francisco Meneses.
Ms Casanellas said that, from the fifth month of her pregnancy, she remembered how Dr Guidos would repeatedly tell her that her child would be dark-skinned, even though the father is white.
She said:
‘I always thought that was strange. How would he know that from the ultra-sound scans, and why would he keep saying it?”I was very stressed at first because the baby took a while to start breathing, but then I held him and remember thinking that he looked like my husband. ‘He was very white and had similar features. I remember seeing his genitals and thinking that they were white and pinkish.’But then the anaesthetist came and told me that I was very nervous and that they were going to give me something to put me to sleep. After that I don’t remember anything, until I woke up the next morning.’Around 8am, they started to bring the babies to their mothers, and I waited for mine. But when I took him I saw that he was very different to the one I had held in the delivery room. When I changed his clothes I noticed that his genitals were very dark and not rosy like how I’d remembered. ‘I said to the nurse, ‘look, his genitals are very dark’, and she told me, ‘no, that’s normal, that’s normal”.
Ms Casanellas said photos she took of her baby son soon after the birth prove that the baby was white-skinned. Despite the doubts, the couple took the baby back home to Dallas, Texas, but over the coming months family and friends also noticed the child’s darker colour and lack of resemblance with his parents.
Ms Casanellas said:
‘I just want him to give me my baby back. I want to know that my child hasn’t been trafficked or any other crime committed against him. I need my baby, I’m just asking for my baby.’ She said of the baby swapped with theirs
‘If they can’t find his mother, he already has parents, us. We are taking care of him and, even though we know he isn’t our biological son, we still love him.’
The baby was three months old when the couple finally found to courage to take a DNA test, which showed he has a 0.00 per cent probability of being their son.
The country’s Attorney General has now ordered a criminal investigation into the baby’s disappearance amid claims a trafficking gang, led by Dr Guido, has been operating inside the hospital.

The Police in Enugu have apprehended a suspect (names withheld), who allegedly slit the throat of one Anthony Nnamani in a bid to steal the victim’s Toyota Camry, at the Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, on August 28.
An eyewitness claimed that the incident, which occurred at about 03:40p.m., quickly drew peoples’ attention, noting that they thought the car snatcher was a ritualist.
Vanguard reports that the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident in a statement, saying operatives of Udenu Police Division got wind of the incident, rushed to the scene and arrested the car snatcher.
Amaraizu said:
“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of our investigation.”

It is only by political delineation that he falls within Delta State but there are Igbo speaking Deltans. He is an Igbo man but only on the other side of the Niger. He is not an Urhobo man. What language does he speak? Is it not Igbo? So what are we talking about?
That is the biggest position and they have it already. So, you can see that all this noise is being made by frustrated and jobless politicians who just want to use ethnicity to get juicy positions. It is orchestrated.
We the elite should not be moved by this noise and selfish agenda. Imagine a whole ethnic group campaigning for a position! Initially, they said chief of staff, then SGF. Now, with all the noise they have been making since May 29, imagine if one person from that region is appointed to that position. That person will then see himself as a champion of his ethnic group and his kinsmen will descend on that office in the area of contracts and gifts. He will destroy the sanctity of that office and turn it into a political chessboard because that person will see himself as representing a region in that position. It removes professionalism from that position. So, we should not campaign for offices on the basis of representing an ethnic bloc. Yes, every region will get appointments but once he is appointed, he should not see himself as representing that ethnic group but the whole country.

Two teenagers, were apprehended by the Police after they were caught rocking stolen trainers on Facebook. The teenagers allegedly stole a victim’s newly purchased Air Jordan 6s at a school bus stop in suburban Atlanta.
They pulled a gun on the victim and forced him to remove the quite expensive trainers. The boy quickly obeyed before the teenagers fled, leaving him barefoot and shaken.
Reed Markee Deandre Williams, 19, and Davon Luckett, 17, were reportedly taken into custody in Atlanta, Georgia, US on Wednesday after the police found the images of the swiped trainers on Facebook.
A lesbian couple are suing a clinic in Ohio following the birth of their mixed race baby. Jennifer Cramblett selected a white, blonde-haired, blue-eyed donor labelled No 380. But she was artificially inseminated with a black man’s sperm by mistake. .
While she and her partner, Amanda Zinkon (left), adore their daughter Payton (right), they are suing the clinic amid claims she will grow up feeling out of place in their mostly-white hometown in Ohio.
Her lawsuit says:
: ‘Getting a young daughter’s hair cut is not particularly stressful for most mothers, but to Jennifer it is not a routine matter, because Payton has hair typical of an African American girl. ‘Jennifer was crying, confused and upset,’ the lawsuit says. ‘All of the thought, care and planning that she and Amanda had undertaken to control their baby’s parentage had been rendered meaningless. In an instant. Jennifer’s excitement and anticipation of her pregnancy was replaced with anger, disappointment and fear.’
To get a decent cut, Jennifer must travel to a black neighbourhood, where she is obviously different in appearance, and not overtly welcome.
Miss Cramblett said she grew up in predominantly white town and didn’t meet a black person until she attended university. She and her partner live in the mainly white Uniontown, Ohio, and fear Payton will be the only non-white child in class at school.
Miss Cramblett claims she was worried her family might not accept an African American child.
The sperm bank sent Miss Cramblett an apology note and a refund. Miss Cramblett told NBC News: ‘I am happy that I have a healthy child but I’m not going to let them get away with not being held accountable.‘You can’t just go, “Well you got a baby so you should be happy”.’
Her claim for damages for wrongful birth and breach of warranty was thrown out by a judge last week but she has been told to resubmit her claim on the grounds of negligence and will return to court in December.
