A Nigerian couple based in Houston were arrested on Tuesday after they allegedly forced a 38-year old Nigerian woman to work as a personal slave while subjecting her to bizarre abuses, including making her strain leftover milk from cereal bowls to use in her tea, and, in one instance, beating her because she dressed the couple’s child in the wrong pair of socks.
A report by Houston Press says that Chudy Nsobundu, 56, and his wife Sandra, 50, were apprehended on Tuesday and charged with forced labor, visa fraud, withholding documents and harboring conspiracy after allegedly enslaving the Nigerian woman and forcing her to work as a nanny to the couple’s five adopted children without pay.
In addition to physical and verbal abuse, federal prosecutors allege the woman was denied basic living necessities — like fresh food, fresh water for drinking and bathing, and access to medical treatment — and was allowed to leave the couple’s five-bedroom house at the end of a quiet Katy cul-de-sac only when she was taking the two youngest children out for a walk.
In 2012, Sandra Nsobundu allegedly contacted the victim, who was living in Lagos, Nigeria, at the time, through a mutual friend and asked her if she would come to the United States to care for her adopted children. The Nsobundus have five children, ages 21, 12, nine and two three-year olds (according to public records, the 21-year old is a registered nurse). The victim signed a “contract” to perform the duties, for which she believed she would earn $100 a month, and soon traveled to Texas using fraudulent identification documents allegedly paid for by the Nsobundus.
Once she arrived at the Nsobundus’ home at 6415 Arroyo Hill Court, the couple allegedly threw all of the woman’s clothes in the garbage and told her she was not allowed to have her own possessions, including her passport, which the couple allegedly kept locked in their bedroom. The feds claim she was forced to sleep on the floor in the two youngest kids’ rooms because, as the Nsobundus told her, she was “too smelly” for the bed.
The victim told investigators with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that she worked 5:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. every day, and was not allowed to watch TV or even sit down during her workday. She was allegedly not allowed to eat fresh food, only leftovers, and could not even use fresh milk for her tea. Instead, Sandra Nsobundu made her “strain the milk out of the children’s bowls of cereal,” according to the complaint.
The complaint also alleges that Sandra Nsobundu would physically abuse the victim, who had a “deformed” left arm that didn’t heal right after a motorcycle accident in Nigeria, if she did not perform her duties to the Nsobundus’ expectations.
The victim told ICE that in one incident around Easter last year, Sandra Nsobundu “did not like the socks that she had put on” the youngest child, so Nsobundu dragged the woman down by her hair and slapped her in the face with a slipper. Nsobundu then allegedly told the woman that she would “shoot her and kill her” for not taking care of the kids the way she wanted her to.
Throughout her two years enslaved in the Nsobundu household, the couple would often refer to the woman as “the idiot.”
In October 2015, the woman called her bank in Nigeria and found out she had not been paid since she arrived in America, prompting her to seek help escaping from the household.
According to the complaint, in late September 2015 a caller notified the National Human Trafficking Resource Center about the woman’s situation. The next month, the woman fled the Nsobundus’ residence with the assistance of a case manager from the YMCA International Trafficked Persons Assistance Program and was taken to a women’s shelter shortly after.
Court records show Chudy Nsobundu, a registered nurse, was convicted of a misdemeanor theft in Harris County in 1982, and in Fort Bend this January, he was charged with interfering with an emergency call, also a misdemeanor (that case is ongoing). Other than that, the couple’s criminal background is clean in Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties, as well as at the federal level (except for yesterday’s arrest).
The Nsobundus each face a total of up to 60 years in prison and $1 million in fines.
While her new album, “ANTI“, is making waves on charts and all, singles off the album getting massive radio air play and all, sultry songstress, Rihanna has made history as the first ever and only artist yet in RIAA Gold & Platinum history to be certified with 100 million song awards.
In other words, the RnB singer has become the first and only artist to surpass RIAA’s 100 million cumulative singles award threshold.

Medical students at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have reportedly shut down the university’s gates to protest the school’s decision to increase the cut-off marks in order for them to continue their medical training.
According to Sahara Reporters, some protesting students stated that the initial cut-off they were required to meet was a 2.50-grade point (GP). The university administration, however, increased the cut-off to 4.00 GP without giving current students any warning or special considerations.
“We are protesting because all the affected students feel cheated,” one of the protesting students told our correspondent. He added: “How can the university authorities justify increasing the cut-off from 2.50 4.00? It is absolutely unacceptable.” Another protesting medical student stated that a fellow student with a grade point of 3.94 had been notified by the university that he should change his degree to Education Biology. “This kind of action is unjust,” said the student.
The student union leaders had reportedly tried to broker a peaceful resolution of the dispute with UNILAG administrators but the administrators remained unwilling to negotiate in good faith.
“We decided to shut down the gates because the school authorities have shown no interest in a meaningful dialogue with us,” one of the students said.
The students said they could not tell how long their protests would last. One of them declared that it would depend on how the university addresses their legitimate concerns.

Recall in an interview, the rapper spoke on his relationship with his baby mama and long time girlfriend, Adebukunmi Suleiman. He stated that although they are still together, he has no plans for marriage now.
“We’ve been cool from way back and we’ve been together for almost 5 years now. It’s not just some random chic that came around from nowhere. That’s just it. But the question of marrying her, that one is very hard to answer because Olamide is not God. Only God knows tomorrow,” he said.

The 38-year-old rapper perhaps drew inspiration from the lyrics when he chose the songs and the third – and hopefully last – title for his seventh studio album coming out on Friday.
Kanye took to Twitter to reveal the ‘final track list’ and meaning behind the abbreviated title T.L.O.P., which is ‘The Life of Pablo.’
The track list included Ultra Light Beam, Famous, Fade, Real Friends and Wolves, but not the song that he worked on with fellow rapper Kendrick.
‘I feel like Pablo when I’m workin’ on my shoes / I feel like Pablo when I see me on the news / I feel like Pablo when I’m workin’ on my house,’ Kanye chants.

My mom would always say, about having kids: “One is like one, and two are like twenty.” I never really understood that until now.
It seemed like every time Kanye and I would go out, we would see couples—or really anybody that had kids—and everyone would say, “Wait until you have two.” Like it’s the end of the world! I remember Kanye and I would be like, “WTF are they talking about? Will our lives be the same? Are we going to be OK?!”
Of course, I expected it to be different but, wow, it really is so hard! When I had North, all I did was feed and sleep. This time around, I get no sleep. Every waking second that I’m not with the baby, I’m with North. I actually think the harder parts aren’t with the newborn but with the toddler! I feel like I go into overdrive to give my daughter attention and make her feel loved.
Kanye is super helpful, taking North out to dinners (just them!), and I’m so lucky North looks up to Penelope a lot. She also has a baby brother so she gives North the best advice. I have the cutest video of P giving North a heart to heart about being a good big sister.
I’ve attempted to work a few times or enjoy our Christmas Eve party, but it’s definitely been challenging feeding the baby in between getting myself ready and getting my daughter ready. A staff of online retail store, Jumia, Ola Sanusi, suffocated to death on Monday, February 8, while working in the company’s warehouse which, according to some employees, is as hot as a oven.
Sanusi was said to be preparing to marry his pregnant fiancée before death came calling.
Jumia has now confirmed the unfortunate incident;
“We regret to announce the passing of our dear colleague, Ola Sanusi Ola Sanusi tragically died on Monday as he was seated in one of our inventory rooms, proceeding to perform a cycle count.
We could gather from the video footage that he experienced pains in his chest and collapsed just after. His colleagues reacted very quickly and he was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival”, a rep for the company told Pulse.
The rep says that Sanusi’s family has been invited to the company to watch the footage that shows the moments leading up to the man’s death.
“We have been in close contact with Ola’s family, who have had the opportunity to examine the location of the incident, including the video recordings”, the company’s rep. said.
Recalling Sanusi’s time with the company and the tragedy, the statement read in part;
“Ola joined the company when it launched in March 2013 and has been a great colleague and team member ever since. He was part of the Inbound Team at AIG-Express and worked as an operator. He was a diligent, committed and highly valued member of the team in his 3 years with the company”.
The company also implores the public to give Sanusi’s family privacy to mourn him;
“We wish to respect Ola’s family and invite everyone in this difficult time to respect their grief and need for privacy and mourning. We have extended our deepest condolences to his family and his friends during this difficult time and will continue to support them as much as need be”, it reads.

The sudden death of popular Nollywood comic actor, Dede One Day, still remains a shock to many in the industry after the news of his demise broke out in December 2015.
Dede One Day was said to be on duty anchoring an event when he suddenly slumped and died. Friends, families and colleagues in the industry have since converge to see draw out modalities on how he will be buried and recently a candle light possession was held at Luxury City hotel, Aba, Abia state, to celebrate his last days on earth.
The actor will be buried on the Saturday, 13th of February 2016 in his home town.

Idris Elba and his long-term girlfriend Naiyana Garth, who have 22-month-old son Winston together, have reportedly split up.
The 43-year-old star and Naiyana Garth have reportedly gone their separate ways after two-and-a-half years of dating.
A source told The Sun newspaper: ‘It ended very recently and it’s too soon for her to talk about it. They’ve kept it very quiet so she’s surprised people know already.
‘It’s very sad that this has happened while Idris is experiencing the highest points of his professional career and they can’t celebrate it with each other.’
Naiyana was nowhere to be seen at the British Film Awards on Sunday night as Idris scooped the Best Actor accolade for ‘Beasts of No Nation’.
What’s more, the star didn’t thank her during his acceptance speech.
