A law student has alleged that she is being picked on because of her stylish and beautiful looks. The 18 year old says women need to stop being critical of each other’s appearance – after claiming classmates started judging her for making too much effort.
Paula Ursu, a first year student has only been at the university for a few weeks, but says she is getting strange comments and looks based on her appearance .
She revealed she has been asked why she makes so much of an effort and that she gets looked down upon for wearing make-up, heels and doing her hair.
Speaking to student newspaper The Tab, Paula said:
“People would say to me ‘oh you look dressed up for university’ and I would get strange looks from girls who then wouldn’t talk to me.In the beginning, I tried to explain myself, but now I just think it’s none of anyone’s business how I choose to look.”
The 18 year old considers herself to be a feminist, and dresses well because it helps her stay focused.
She said:
“It doesn’t even take me that long to get ready, maybe 20 or 30 minutes
I wake up, shower, have breakfast and then try to pick out a new outfit every day, do my hair and make-up and that’s it. It’s just a ritual.
“If I like the way I look I’m more confident and I work better. I do it for myself, not anyone else.
“There’s already a lot of people who don’t treat women as equal and it’s sad when other women try to bring each other down.
We should be empowering each other, and the way I dress makes me feel empowered.”

A cultist has confessed that he wanted to avenge his brother’s murder but instead, killed the wrong person after his friend deceived him.
The suspect, a 21-year-old Morufu Liadi, allegedly killed 29-year-old motorcyclist, Lateef Sura, during a birthday party in the Alakara, Mushin area of the state.
Liadi, who had an accomplice, Rilwan Balogun, told Punch Metro that he stabbed the motorcyclist several times on the neck and on his waist till he died because he wanted to avenge the death of his brother who was killed in 2008.
Speaking with the publication on Tuesday, Liadi, who recalled that he stabbed Sura to death with a table knife, said he was told that the deceased was responsible for the death of his elder brother, Azeez, in April 2008.
“On that Sunday, my colleagues came to see me at home and said we were going for a birthday party at Agbekolade Street, Mushin. I usually stayed in the Oju Irin (railway) area . The Aiye and the Eiye cult gangs have a feud in the area.
“It was my friend, Rilwan (Balogun), and others at the party who pointed the man to me that he was the killer of my elder brother. I had not met the deceased before.
“My elder brother, Azeez, also known as Arsenal, died in April 2008. He was killed by cult boys. So, I jumped on the man and began to stab him. I stabbed him several times on the neck and on the back. I used a table knife. I did not know that I was deceived.
“I belong to the Eiye Cult. I joined the gang some time last year. I am not a student. I was working as a vulcaniser.”
Balogun, 23, an indigene of Kwara State, who reportedly pointed the deceased to Liadi, said he mistook the man for a cult member in Idi Oro.
He said:
“It is true that I was the one who pointed out the deceased to Liadi. We had been invited to the birthday party by friends. I told Liadi that the deceased was an Idi Oro hoodlum. And then they jumped on him and began to stab him.
“I dropped out of school in JSS 3. I subsequently learnt carpentry but I was jobless as of the time the police arrested me. When the deceased fell down, the party scattered and all of us ran home. But I was arrested by the police inside my house.”

In a crucial bid to try and put an end to the incessant deaths caused by suicide bombers in mosques, the Borno State Government has distributed metal detectors to Imams in the state to screen worshippers.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Borno State Governor on Media, Mallam Isa Gusau, after a meeting held on Sunday in Maiduguri, to plan strategies at stemming attacks on mosques in the state.

Black Diamond – Wande Coal in a chat with Channels TV said it was God who brought him to limelight and not his former label boss – Don Jazzy.
He said
“I give all the glory to God Almighty. He is been the one that brought me out because Everyone keeps saying it is Don Jazzy that brought me out. I feel like its just two magical people having great talent and they come together to create magic. So its not by one man, its by God”
The singer also reveals he misses working with his former producer Don Jazzy..

High ranked man of God, Pastor Chris Okotie, has called out the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor for allegedly deceiving former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to contest in the last election.
While preaching to is congregation yesterday, Sunday, October 25th, Chris Okotie said openly that Oritsejafor told the former president, God has said he would win the election and he can go ahead with it.
“Pastor Oritsejafor deceived Jonathan with a false prophecy from God that he (Jonathan) would win the election convincingly. The man (Jonathan) became convinced to contest after Oritsejafor had told him, using CAN’s name, that God had ordained him the winner of the 2015 presidential election,”
He also spoke on why so many pastors kept mute on Oritsejafor’s prophesy, He said;
“They couldn’t speak out because they were scared of being insulted. They were scared of being insulted for saying rubbish. They were scared of being insulted on the pages of newspapers.
So, while I continued to write and speak that Jonathan was not the man, those of them who knew the truth in what I was saying chose to keep quiet out of fear.
“I told CAN and PFN that Jonathan was not of God; that whosoever would win would be one that had built a tabernacle in the presence of God.“I told CAN and PFN that Jonathan did not belong to the House of David and that since he did not belong to the household, his winning would bring more sorrow to Nigeria,” Okotie said.
The Islamic cleric, Ali Mohammed, who was suspected to have killed a graduate at the Olorunfemi Street, Oworonshoki area of Lagos state so as to avoid a N32k debt, has confessed to have carried out the dreadful act.
Killing the 32-year-old graduate of Business Administration, Olufunbi Lawal, the suspect, said he arranged four other relatives, who helped in killing him on Thursday, this past week.
He said:
“He (Olufunbi) sold a motorcycle to me for N40, 000 last month and I gave him N8, 000 with a promise to pay up before the end of October.
But he kept disturbing me to give him his balance. I delayed in paying because the motorcycle developed some faults that also gulped the money I was to use to pay him.
“On that fateful day, I invited some of my relatives. We killed him in order to stop him from disturbing me.”
PUNCH Metro learnt that Olufunbi, a graduate of the Lagos polytechnic, left his shop to meet Mohammed to collect the money the latter was owing him for a motorcycle he (Olufunbi) sold to him.
As the 32-year-old entered his friend’s house on Thursday night, he was grabbed by a gang of five men led by Mohammed. The men reportedly tied a rope around his neck before slamming an iron bar on his head, thereby breaking his skull.
Not done, the men chopped off his fingers and slashed his neck with a cutlass.
It was learnt by the publication that his corpse was dragged down from the three-storey building and thrown onto the roadside, where it was found on Friday morning.
A resident and close friend of the victim, Funke Nuberu, explained that Olufunbi and Mohammed had been friends for more than four years.
She explained that when Olufunbi’s landlady started demanding rent, he decided to turn to his friend to offset his debt, but the suspect asked for more time.
“Olufunbi had a shop where he sold provisions. Ali (Mohammed) is a security guard on the street; he was employed to guard a renovated building that had been put up for sale by an insurance company.
“Olufunbi’s shop is adjacent to Ali’s house on Olorunfemi Street. Olufunbi usually closed his shop around 10pm.
But he got a call around 8pm on that fateful day and asked one of his friends to look after the shop and that he would soon return.
Around 10pm, he was not back and the landlady wanted to lock the gate, so the person looking after the shop came to inform me that Olufunbi had not returned.”
Nuberu said efforts to reach him on his telephone were abortive as it was later discovered that his handset was left in the shop.
She said the call log on the telephone was checked and it turned out that Mohammed was the last person the victim called.
Mohammed, when challenged, denied knowing his friend’s whereabouts.
“We challenged him that he was the last person that Olufunbi spoke with on the phone but he said Olufunbi called his old telephone line,” Nuberu added.
A resident, Solomon Paul, said the blood dripping from the corpse was traced to the second floor of the building where Mohammed worked as a security guard.
He said:
“There was blood from the ground floor to the top floor, so his corpse must have been dragged down after he was killed. We saw the clothes Mohammed wore the previous day, stained with blood. There was also a rope, which was used to tie his neck. The keys to his shop were on the ground.
“We found a crowbar which they used to hit his head and a cutlass that they also used to kill him.”
Paul said some old blood stains were also in the house, suggesting that criminal activities had been going on for some time in the house. Mohammed was said to be a reputed muezzin in a mosque in the community.
It was learnt that an irate mob that tore through the building descended heavily on Mohammed until he passed out.
The victim’s elder brother, Kazeem, said the family did not have the means to pursue the case, adding that only God could fight for them.
He said:
“Olufunbi was very hardworking. He already had a piece of land in Ikorodu, but he put the project on hold because of his education. He also had a fiancée and they were planning their wedding.
“It is only God that can fight for us. His corpse has already been deposited in a mortuary.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, confirmed the incident, adding that two suspects had been arrested.
