Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kogi State province, yesterday slammed the All Progressives Congress, APC, for allocating the position of junior minister to her state.
The ministerial nominee for the state, Mr. James Ocholi (SAN), was assigned the portfolio of Minister of State.
Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, the state capital, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Kogi, Bode Ogunmola described as “humiliating and condescending”, the assigning of junior minister to Kogi State in a, “c-grade, if not d-grade” ministry, stressing that Kogi State never had it so bad under successive PDP administrations.
“Under former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, Kogi State manned the Police Affairs, Industries, Health and Justice Ministries in that order, following the appointments of Gen David Jemibewon, Chief Kola Jamodu, Prof Eyitayo Lambo and Chief Bayo Ojo (SAN), respectively.”

Two young men who tried to import N59 million worth of hard drugs they hid in Irish whiskey packs and wooden frames were apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
Michael Okwuma, 31, who was found with 3.400kg of cocaine hidden in wooden frames and James Nwajagu, caught with 3.240kg of cocaine in Irish whiskey packs, were nabbed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos.
NDLEA Airport Commander Ahmadu Garba, said in a statement
“Okwuma took off from Guarulhos International Airport, São Paulo, Brazil in a South African Airways flight through Johannesburg to Lagos. Nwajagu also left Brazil in an Emirates flight through United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Lagos. Both suspects will soon be charged to court,”
“I live in São Paulo with my wife and child. I work in a supermarket but my salary is not sufficient to take care of my family. The man that gave me the drug is like a father to me. He used to assist me financially whenever I needed help.
I told him I was home sick because for two years I have not visited Nigeria. He was the one that bought my ticket and gave me $3,000. I was very happy for the gesture.
He also gave me a bag containing children clothes and wooden frames to take to Nigeria. When I got to Lagos, NDLEA officers opened the bag and found cocaine.”
Nwajagu said:
“I was in my village in Anambra doing menial jobs to sustain myself. I came to Lagos on a short visit when I met an old friend.
He was very nice to me because he used to give me money, buy me drinks and food. He told me to bring a bag from Brazil and that he will settle me financially to start my own business. That was how I travelled out of Nigeria.
On arrival, the bag was searched and cocaine was found inside packs of Irish whiskey. I never knew I will end up this way,” he said.

A journalist who was allegedly tortured by policemen after an illegal raid in the FESTAC area of Lagos State on October 30, 2015, says he has forgiven them.
Femi Owolabi, and 30 others were arrested around a night club by nine policemen who allegedly tortured them at the SDCI for hours and released after the victims parted with some money.
Those who did not have money were driven to a bank and forced to withdraw money from the Automated Teller Machine and used the money to buy their freedom.
Following an order for their arrest by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, the journalist said he had forgiven the policemen as they had apologised to him.
He said one of the policemen that was arrested missed the wedding of his eldest daughter last Saturday because of the case.
He, therefore, said he would be withdrawing the case on compassion grounds and would no longer be involved in their trial.
The journalist spoke with Punch:
“Last Friday, on a special invitation, I was with the Deputy Commissioner of Police. Again, those policemen who gave me the beating of my life and locked me up were paraded before me.
They’ve been in detention since Monday last week. None of them has had a change of clothes. I looked across their faces; teary, remorseful.
“I wrote a letter addressed to the jurors who will deliver the verdict over the case of these policemen. In the letter, I explained that I had forgiven them, and for them, I appealed for clemency.
They eventually will be dismissed from the Force, a source told me. But, if my appeal is considered, the punishment may be reduced to demotion.”
“The truth is, I did this for the sake of the girl who needed her dad last Saturday, but unfortunately, she couldn’t have him at her wedding.
I have also thought about the innocent kids of the other men. For my pains and loss, I believe God Almighty will heal me.”

Emwazi, 27, carried out a number of beheadings of Western hostages in Syria and was top of the UK Government’s ‘kill list‘ of up to a dozen British radicals whom ministers want taken out with targeted drone strikes.
Ogechi Njoku, 25, and two accomplices have been apprehended by the police in Lagos after they allegedly stole a week-old baby from Imo State, and sold him to a couple in the Cele, Mile 2 area of the state for the sum of N1m.
According to PUNCH Metro, Njoku was arrested by policemen attached to the Makinde division around 02:00am on Wednesday, November 4, on her way to deliver the baby to the couple.
It was gathered by the publication that during investigation, Njoku led the State Intelligence Bureau, which handled the matter, to arrest her two accomplices – Patience Nwaogbo and Ngozi Izuora.
It was learnt that Njoku, a sales girl in Omuwa Town, Imo, was sent by her accomplices last Tuesday to Lagos, and had travelled in a car with the baby throughout the night.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the commercial driver, however, became suspicious when Njoku could not breastfeed the baby when he cried, but instead gave him baby food.
The driver was said to have alerted the police on patrol when they got to the Oshodi Oke area of the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, and Njoku was interrogated and arrested.
According to the police, Njoku, Nwaogbo and Izuora have made confessional statements, while their collaborator, said to be Njoku’s aunt, is still on the run.
Speaking with the publication, Njoku, who claimed to have four children in Imo, said the plan was that she would give the baby to the couple in the Cele area, adding that he, however, started crying when they got to Lagos.
She said:
“I have not been to Lagos before. I work as an apprentice in a shop in Onitsha, Anambra State. It was my aunt, Madam Ngozi, who asked me to bring the baby to the couple after they had made payment to her.
“My aunt collected the baby from a lady in Imo who wanted to dispose of him. I do not know how much she gave the mother of the baby. I started off this journey at about 11am on Tuesday. I took a private car and my aunt paid the fare.
“She had collected the N1m, but she had yet to give me any share as of when I travelled. While in the car, I could not breastfeed the baby. I was giving him only baby food.
“When we got to Lagos, the baby started crying and I gave him more formula. I had not met the buyers before. I was only given their phone number and I was to meet them in the Cele area. The wife of the man is barren, and she wanted to adopt the baby. The police have arrested the couple too, but they were released on bail.”
Njoku, who noted that she did not mean any harm to the baby, said her children were with a guardian in Imo.
“The driver suspected that I was not the baby’s mother and reported me to policemen on patrol. I have four children too in Imo. They are with a guardian. But I am not living with my husband. We had a quarrel,” she added.
It was learnt that the baby, who was under police care, had yet to be reunited with his parents. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, who paraded the suspect, said the police were on the trail of other members of the syndicate in Imo State.
Opinion leaders and socio-political associations in the South- East believe that Igbo were deliberately denied ‘juicy’ ministries by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Leaders of the foremost Igbo socio-political body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and Njiko Igbo, another prominent pan-Igbo association, described the portfolios assigned to Igbo ministers as ‘disappointing.’
Speaking with Punch on the telephone, President of Ohanaeze Youth Wing, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, who spoke on behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, said Ogbonnaya Onu and Chris Ngige deserved ‘more influential’ ministries than Science and Technology, and Labour and Productivity, respectively.
Isiguzoro said:
“We are disappointed that somebody of the calibre of Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu was assigned to Science and Technology ministry, even Dr. Chris Ngige should have been appointed as the Health Minister instead of Labour and Productivity.“Okechukwu Enalama should have been appointed Minister of Finance.
“Igbo ministers did not get juicy portfolios, except perhaps Ibe Kachikwu and Rotimi Amaechi, who are our brothers from the South-South.
“We are not happy that we did not get the juicy portfolios, although we are happy that our brothers from the Niger Delta got.
“Nevertheless, the era of impunity has gone and we expect all the Igbo ministers to perform excellently.“We expect them to close ranks and work towards developing Igboland.”
Also, President of Njiko Igbo, Reverend Okechukwu Obioha, said Buhari relegated Igbo ministers to the background in his cabinet. But he admitted that the association was not surprised.
He said:
“They are adding more salt to the injury, we expected that. We can see that we (Igbo) are not wanted in this country. At the moment, the sharing of the national cake is between the North and the South-West.
“What will Ngige be doing as Labour and Productivity minister when the Federal Government is not employing anyone, or creating jobs? “Even the Foreign Affairs portfolio that was given to an Igboman (Geoffrey Onyeama) is of no consequence because already Buhari has travelled to most of the countries and he will continue to do so.
“He has traveled in six months more than the immediate past president traveled in six years.
“So the Foreign Affairs minister will just be a rubber stamp.“Buhari has taken the Ministry of Petroleum Resources for himself, making an Igboman the Minister of State.
“So, he (Buhari) has virtually given the Igbo nothing.“But the problem is this will lead to more agitation for Biafra,” Obioha said.

For nearly a decade, Kayden Coleman had been living as a man, not only had he told all his friends and family that he was transgender, he had been on testosterone jabs for five years, had grown facial hair and was about to have a double mastectomy.
But then nature dropped a bombshell and, despite years of taking male hormones, Kayden became pregnant. Now he and husband Elijah, 27, are besotted with 22-month-old Azaelia and are planning to tell her all about her unusual family when she is five.
Kayden was stunned when he first realised his growing belly was not the result of a lack of exercise, but a baby. With a broad smile, the 29-year-old explains:
“I never thought about getting pregnant. Because of the male hormones, I didn’t think it was a possibility. It was definitely a surprise.”
Kayden was going through the mastectomy – or “top surgery” as he calls it – when he became pregnant. Doctors said it was because he’d had to take a break from the hormones before the operation.
He says:
“To have a mastectomy you have to be off hormones for six weeks.”One day my back was killing me,” he says. “Elijah was going to give me a massage, so I lay on my front on the bed. It felt like there was a pillow under my stomach but there was no pillow.”I actually said, ‘I think I should go get a pregnancy test’. We were joking about it.”
A few minutes later, it dawned on Kayden that his “joke” might actually be serious. Nervously, they went out to get a pregnancy test. He says: “I took the test the same night. I felt nervous but excited. The results were conclusive but I still didn’t believe it.”
When he went to the doctors, Kayden found he was 21 weeks pregnant. “I was shocked. It took a while to process it. But I was also busy figuring out how we could make things work in such a short space of time.”
And in July 2013, they got married . There was a lot to take in – especially for Elijah’s friends and family, who did not know Kayden was transgender.
Security guard Elijah says:
“It was such a personal thing that I felt if Kayden wanted them to know he should tell them himself.
“But when we found out Kayden was pregnant we knew we had to tell them. How could we explain the baby when she popped up after a couple of months?”
Kayden was lucky that most people failed to notice his bump but he did get some confused looks.
He says:
“This woman in a shop said to me, ‘Honey, you look like you’re pregnant’. I just laughed and said, ‘I am pregnant!’ She didn’t believe me.”
His pregnancy went smoothly but when it came to the birth in December 2013, it was a different story.
Kayden, who was induced at nine months as he had high blood pressure , was in labour for four days. Kayden did not face discrimination from hospital staff but did feel he was treated differently from other mums-to-be.
“All the medical people were really nice but I did kind of feel like an experiment. While I was in labour, medical students kept coming in and out. It got to the point where I had to put my foot down and demand a c-section.”
The popular comedian held his traditional marriage yesterday in Ibadan, Oyo State where he traditionally married his long-time girlfriend – Mary Josephine Abraham in a Niger-Delta themed wedding ceremony.

Newly sworn-in Minister for Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, stated on Wednesday in Abuja that he would strive to be the best minister in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.

A lady has claimed she was raped more than 43,000 times after becoming trapped in Mexico’s human trafficking industry.
Karla Jacinto estimates she was raped around 43,200 times after being forced to sleep with at least 30 men a day for the last four years.
She revealed she was first targeted at the age of 12 by a trafficker who prized her away from her dysfunctional family with gifts and money.
She was then taken to Guadalajara, one of Mexico’s biggest cities, and forced to work as a prostitute.
She told CNN:
“I started at 10am and finished at midnight. Some men would laugh at me because I was crying.”I had to close my eyes so that that I wouldn’t see what they were doing to me, so that I wouldn’t feel anything.He punched me with his fists, he kicked me, pulled my hair, spit at me in the face… he also burned me with the iron.”

A miracle two-headed baby girl has been delivered in an extraordinary birth in Bangladesh, medical officials said.
The baby, who was born late yesterday, is now being treated for breathing difficulties after she was shifted to the intensive care unit of the country’s largest hospital in Dhaka.
Her father Jamal Mia, a farm labourer, described being “awestruck” when he first saw his new baby.
He told AFP:
“She has two fully developed heads. She is eating with two mouths and breathing with two noses,” he said.”Still, I thank Allah that she and the mother are now okay.”
Jamal added that he was concerned about how he would manage to care for the baby if extra expenses were needed.
“I feel sad for her. She has been born to a poor man. I don’t have money to even properly treat her mother,” he said.
Abu Kawsar, owner of the Standard Hospital of Total Healthcare where the baby was born, said initial tests showed she only has one set of vital organs.
“The entire town poured into the clinic. There were thousands of people with some of them coming from the nearby villages,” he said.
“It’s good that the baby has been shifted to Dhaka. Otherwise, it would have been difficult for us to control the crowd.”
