A young Nigerian man, Gidado Abubakar Auta, and his pregnant wife, Amina Ahmad, have died in a fire that gutted their home in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The couple, who were both medical doctors and until their death worked at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), are said to have suffered severe burns in the fire accident in their home three days ago.
The husband, Dr Gidado, died on Tuesday, July 5, while his wife died on Wednesday morning, July 6.
Dr. Gidado Abubakar Auta was a Senior Registrar in Radiology, while the late Amina was a house officer.
Gidado was buried according to Muslim rites on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022. The funeral prayers for the late Dr. Amina will be held by 10 a.m. on Wednesday, opposite the Satus Hotel, Lagos Street, Maiduguri.
Families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased couple have since taken to social media to pen touching tributes to them.
A close friend of the deceased, Isyaku Baba wrote on Facebook,
“It is with grave shock that we recieved the deaths of Dr Amina Ahmad (House Officer) and wife of Late Dr Auta Gidado, both which were lost to fire inferno.
The husband, Late Dr Auta was confirmed dead yesterday while the wife followed her beloved this morning.
The couples worked with the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Gidado Abubakar Auta was a Senior Registrar, Radiology. He was one of the finest Resident Doctor in the Department of Radiology University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH). The wife, Dr Amina died as a pregnant woman. May Allah give the family the fortitude to bear the great yet irreplaceable loss and grant the couples an eternal life in paradise. Say a prayer for this committed couples whilst they rest in peace and share. It could have been either of us.”

This won’t be the first time the philanthropist, through his foundation would be putting smiles on the faces of the masses.

A South African man simply identified as Saheed has made history after arriving in Islam’s holiest city, Mecca, on foot.
Saheed reportedly started his journey to the holy land from Cape Town in South Africa on August 30th, 2018. He walked through Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan, Egypt, and Palestine, where the COVID-19 border lockdown forced him to pause his journey.
According to him, he stayed in Palestine for a year and eight months while waiting for the border to be opened, and when that was done, he continued his journey.
Saheed, while speaking to newsmen about his experience shortly after arriving in Saudi Arabia, said he’s in Mecca for the Hajj and after this, he would begin his journey back to his homeland, South Africa, on foot.

A Nigerian lady, Josephine Muyiwa-Afolabi, who gave birth after waiting for 15 years, has recounted how they were mocked by friends.
Josephine and her husband, Pastor Emmanuel Muyiwa-Afolabi, welcomed their first child in June of 2022.
Taking to Facebook following the birth of their daughter, the career coach detailed her journey from her wedding to years of waiting, lies, mockery that she and her husband suffered.
In a lengthy post on her page recently, she recalled how two women gossiped about her in church, saying that she must lived a very promiscuous life in school and had several abortions.
Her post reads,
“When we said “I do” on October 20, 2007, little did we know the kind of journey we were about to embark on. We had envisaged welcoming our bundle of joy within the first year,”
But like a silly joke, days started running into weeks, weeks into months and months into unbelievable years.

Narrating further, she wrote,
“I was at work and a colleague complained about how her domestic staff was getting fatter by the day and how she suspected that the girl must be pregnant.
“I chipped in: “she might be getting fat because you’re feeding her well and she has peace of mind; weight gain is not the only symptom of pregnancy and doesn’t have to be a result of pregnancy.”
And my colleague responded: “Josephine, you should have at least let experienced people talk.”
What was my reaction? I felt like the ground should open up and sw@llow me. Once she realized how embarrassed I felt, she quickly apologized, saying: “sorry, I didn’t mean it that way.”
“Well, the deed was already done and till I left that particular office, I deliberately avoided every and any conversation related to pregnancy, child bearing, etc.
#Lesson. Sometimes, you may mean no harm but know this: people who are trying to conceive are extremely sensitive to words and actions that alienate them or make them feel incapable.
The fact that someone is yet to have children does not imply that they are in total oblivion about pregnancy, child bearing or child care, just the same way it’ll be erroneous to assume that an unmarried person is clueless about marriage matters. Let’s be more considerate and kinder in our choice of words.
About seven years into our marriage, Sunday service had just ended and as the usual practice was, my husbandman had to attend the post-service Pastors’ meeting holding in the Senior Pastor’s office. I sat in the church auditorium waiting for him.
Then two ladies walked past and stood some distance away. It appeared like they were waiting to see the Senior pastor.
One of them then asked the other, stylishly pointing in my direction: “who is this woman?”
That’s Pastor Afolabi’s wife.”, the other responded. “Which Pastor Afolabi? She queried further.
All the while, I didn’t look up and as such, neither of the ladies were aware I could hear them.
“How many Pastor Afolabis do we have here? that cute pastor naa.”
“You mean he’s married? Wow! I didn’t know.”
“Yes, he’s married but it’s like they don’t have children”
And the other responded: “na wa o. This thing is very common with young ladies of nowadays. They’ll live very promiscuous lives in secondary school and university, have several abortions and end up looking for a pastor to marry and the pastor will start suffering and praying for them to have children without having a clue about the wife’s past.”
My reaction? I moved farther away from them as I didn’t want to hear any more rubb1sh. I know myself, my husbandman knows me too well and my God knows me better than anyone else does.
#Lesson Whoever told anyone that women trying to conceive must have been promiscuous at some point in their lives? And why would anyone assume that having children is a reward for chastity such that once you don’t have, it is assumed you lived a deviant life?
Look, there are several people who had multiple sexual partners as singles and yet had no issues with having children after wedding. In the same vein are several couples who though remained chaste all through their single years but had to deal with infertility.
While I’m a strong crusader for no premarital sex, I understand that virginity and chastity are no guarantees for fertility. So next time you see a couple who are trying to conceive, don’t be quick to draw conclusions that you know nothing about.
A cheating wife was forced to carry her husband on her shoulders and parade him through the streets after she was caught having an affair.
The incident is reported to have taken place in Borpadaw Village, India on July 3, 2022.
According to the report, the woman went missing for seven days and her husband and in-laws searched for her all through the week, to no avail.
Her husband then decided to file a missing person’s report and that’s when a member of the public came forward and told officials that the woman was residing at her boyfriend’s house.
It’s alleged the unidentified woman’s husband beat her, pulled her hair and slammed her on the ground after finding out about the affair.
The woman was then made to carry her husband through town. She can be seen holding her husband on her shoulders as she walks down the street, surrounded by locals.
According to reports, it is claimed that the husband proceeded to showcase her throughout their village, while hanging shoes from her neck, in the grim scenes.
Currently, nine people have been arrested for the incident and she has been sent to her childhood home.

Popular Nigerian singer, Paul Okoye, has lamented the state of the nation.
The singer, who took to his Twitter handle on Tuesday, July 5 to share his thoughts on the state of things in the country, said Nigeria is totally backward.
According to him, the only things progressing in Nigeria are music and entertainment, because the government is not in control.

Solomon is very calm and polite. I don´t think I can remember a time where he has been in any kind of trouble in school or with the other children at Land of Hope. Speaking in a chat with NeedToKnow, Quran said;
“Surrogates cost anywhere between £6,000-£120,000; we are lucky we have found the surrogate we have chosen.
“The baby will arrive late spring 2023.
“This is not Cheryl’s first rodeo, she is a mother to seven and grandmother to 17. I have no kids yet, besides the one on the way.’
The Italy-based couple also revealed that they are very excited about welcoming a child together and can’t wait for his/her arrival.
“I am extremely excited, this is something I always wanted, to have a family with the love of my life”, Quran said.
Cheryl added, “Another baby would be amazing for me and my family on this new journey.

A man has raised alarm after he saw a partially collapsed building in Lekki, Lagos state, being worked on by builders.
The man speaking in a video shared on social media explained that a part of the building collapsed some days ago yet bricklayers are still working on the faulty structure.
According to him, the building needs to be demolished with immediately alacrity in order to prevent a total collapse that would lead to loss of lives in the future.
He then called on the appropriate authorities to visit the place to call the owner of the building to order.
The concerned resident said,
“This building partially collapsed some days ago. Now, instead of alerting the authorities, they’re trying to fix it themselves.
“This building is supposed to be brought down and not this thing they’re doing. The authorities need to visit this place.
“This is along Lekki Gardens Phase 4 by General Paint busstop.”
Chidinma’s twin brother, Ebuka, who raised the alarm about his sister’s whereabouts on Twitter, said she alerted their younger sister when she noticed a strange car following her.
The family’s final communication with the young woman, according to him, was a phone call to their younger sister, informing her of the strange car that was tailgating her.

A family of five is lucky to be alive after a trailer rammed into their car along Hill Station Junction, Jos Plateau State on Monday, July 4.
The pastor, his wife, and three children gracefully survived the accident unscathed.
According to the pastor identified as Emmanuel Abu, who took to Facebook to recount how his family narrowly escaped death, they were all in their car when the trailer driving at top speed rammed into them on Monday evening.
“MY WIFE AND MY THREE CHILDREN WERE RIGHT INSIDE THIS VEHICLE WHEN A TRAILER ON A HIGH SPEED DROVED INTO US THIS EVENING IN A HOLDUP AT HILL STATION JUNCTION, JOS. THIS IS QUITE UNEXPLAINABLE & UNBELIEVABLE BUT THE ALMIGHTY GOD IN HIS INFINITE LOVE & MERCY, DELIVERED US ALL AND GAVE US A RESOUNDING VICTORY OVER THE PLANS OF THE ENEMY. A woman was startled when an orangutan kissed and caressed her during a recent visit to a zoo.
Last week, while the woman was at Safari World in Bangkok, the cheeky animal fondled her breasts and even gave her a peck on the cheek as she tried to pose for a picture.
The primate was captured in a video that found its way to the internet groping her breasts and kissing her on the cheek as she tried to pose for a picture.
She was about to take a beautiful tourist photo while she was seated on a swing at the zoo when the cheeky monkey approached her from behind, pawing at her, touching her breasts, and making multiple attempts to peck her on the cheek.
The orangutan beams broadly as people photograph and record the encounter.
Despite being startled, the woman laughs as the orangutan plays.

In other news, controversial Ghanaian actress and video vixen, Akuapem Poloo, has used her cat as a point of contact to pregnant women in labour.
This comes after the actress’ cat gave birth to four kittens with ease and without any human assistance on Monday, July 4.
Akuapem took to her Instagram page to share a video of her cat and it’s newborn kittens and praised it for being a “strong woman” due to it’s resilience during labor.

Award-winning Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has made her first appearance on social media after her husband, JJC Skillz, announced their split.
It would be recalled that on Thursday, June 30th, the rapper took Nigerians by surprise after announcing that he and the actress are separated.
He said their marriage has been tumultuous for two years and the actress sent him packing from their matrimonial home three months ago.
JJC Skillz wrote,

Popular Nigerian singer, Daniel Benson professionally known as BNXN or Buju, has responded to a troll who fat-shamed him on Twitter.
The “Outside” hitmaker was one of the performing artistes at the Afro Nation Music Festival 2022 in Portugal, and a video of his performance was shared online.
However, netizens had a couple of things to say about his performance and appearance at the international concert.
A Twitter user reacting to the video brutally mocked the singer for “almost passing out” because he jogged for a short distance on stage.
“Buju’s fat ass tried to jog to the stage and almost passed out during his performance,” he wrote.
The 25-year-old singer got wind of the tweet and lambasted the Twitter user for fat-shaming him when he makes millions of naira from his music and guest performances.
He responded,

Controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu has made a U-turn again and revealed that he’s indeed gay.
This comes one year after he came out as a homosexual in 2021 and shared pictures of himself in a red bra to launch his crossdressing career.
However, in April 2021, Uche said he lied about being gay and only made the claim to support members of the LGBTQ community.
Well, Uche took to his Instagram page on Monday, June 5, to counter his earlier statement and revealed that he’s gay and will forever remain gay.
He made this announcement while condemning the Sharia court ruling that sentenced a man to death for being gay in Bauchi state.
